Happy New Year

Are you resolving to lose weight, and exercise more?  Yeah, you and most of the population.  Me, I've given up on that resolution, I'm resolving to use up more of my craft supplies, ink up stamps that are sitting unloved and to finish the inside of cards.  I bet I have as much luck with these resolutions as the others.
I've been on a Cat's Pajamas binge.  So even though it isn't the new year yet I did ink up some stamps that have been unloved, and I did the inside of one.
Will I be able to keep this up in the new year?  Well keep stopping by to check up on me.
Here's the deets for the penguin:

stamp:  the Cat's Pajamas "Make Merry"
ink:  Inkadinkado black chalk ink
paper:  Su kraft cs for base; Lasting Impressions dp; Georgia Pacific white cs
miscellaneous:  the Cat's Pajamas Cut Ups "Icing";
EK Success "cheers" border punch; stickles, copics, charm; Heidi Swapp bling; the Cat's Pajamas Divine twine; nestibilities

Here's the challenges:

Next up, a birthday card.  I've got a few coming up in January so time's a wasting.
This bunny has become one of my favorites characters.  I can't wait to see what trouble he gets into this year.

Here's the deets:
stamp:  the Cat's Pajamas "Forget About the Cake"
ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
paper:  SU Certainly Celery cs for base and small mats; Nicole blue cs for mat; Scenic Route candles dp; Recollections "Monkeying Around" (dots) dp
miscellaneous:  Glitzy glitter; charm; buttons; floss; copics; stickles; nestibilities

Lastly, I made a card for my buddies in Elizabeth, NJ.  We were supposed to drive North on Christmas night and I had planned to hook up with them yesterday but Mother Nature had a different idea.  There was a traveler's advisory that driving conditions in the Carolinas were perilous so we cancelled.  At the time we didn't know what was going to hit NJ.  Turns out they got over 30 inches of the white stuff!  Yikes!  It was so news worthy they were showing video of it on the news here in Florida.   I'm really sorry I didn't get to visit with my buddies but I'm really, really, really glad that I don't have to deal with that snow.
AND, I finished the inside of this card!  Maybe I'll be keeping a resolution for a change.

Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas "Ski Bunny"; MFT letters for banner
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black for front image and inside sentiment; SU Bordering Blue for letters on banner; SU Soft Sky for interior image

Happy Hippo New Year

Some of you will be seeing pink elephants but I tend to be different.  I'll be seeing pink hippos.  Ever since I was a little girl  when I saw Walt Disney's Fantasia I have had a thing for happy hippos so I had to have this image from Shirley's 2 Girls.  It comes with Christmas sentiments but I'm using it as a New Year's card, okay, you got me, it's a belated Christmas card, like you didn't forget somebody.  But I digress...
It's Twisted Thursday, and this week the twist is "New Year" so I'm seeing pink hippos bringing in the New Year.
If you'd like to snag a hippo for yourself you can click here to shop.  Once you've figured out what stamp to use, get that card put together and post it on the S2G blog, you could win a digi.  Need more inspiration, well you can see the rest of the DT's projects on the S2G blog too.

So get inky this week, make a New Year's card and join the challenge.

Here's the deets:
stamp - S2G digi Hippo
ink - HP printer
paper - Georgia Pacific white cs for the image; Warsau green cs for mats and card base; My Mind's Eye Wonderful Winter pad dp;

I Can't Believe...

It's Christmas day and I'm doing a blog post.  Well, the presents have been opened and we don't have to be anywhere till much later, so why not.
This card was made for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge to use Die-namics.  That little pink strip across the bottom is a Dainty Dots with pearls placed over the holes.  I love this die and I have to say "Thanks" again to the lovely and generous Kim who asked me to be on her November design team.  This die was part of my package.  That was so much fun.  But I digress...
I didn't think that just one little strip was enough AND I just purchased another set of die-namics in the January VIP package.  I don't know the name but I had to use them right away.

They are perfect
for sentiments so I used them on the inside of the card.  It's a set of 3 dies that can be used alone or together.  Can you see that - there's a piece of pink cs as the base, a piece of the striped dp layered over that and then a white piece of cs with pink sponging and the sentiment on the top.  (I asked Santa for better camera skills but he failed to come thru with them).

Besides cards I've been busy knitting and boy is my arm killing me. Just making cards get my carpel tunnel kicking up but knitting puts it into overdrive. My right arm is numb from the elbow down when it isn't there's the pins and needles prickling me.  The Elmer Fudd hat was a big success.  There was also a pair of boot covers that didn't go over as well as I'd hope and a scarf that she loves.  In the knitting basket there's a pair of leg warmers that were requested but have to be sewn together so I guess I should stop "fooling" around here and get those done.  There's nothing worse than a demanding teenager waiting for something she knows is just a heartbeat away.

So here's the deets:
stamp - My Favorite Things - a la Modes "Cheers"
ink - Memento Tuxedo black for image and sentiment; Ranger Worn Lipstick sponged on edges around sentiment
paper - Autumn Leaves "Wink" dp, MFT pink lemonade cs for mat; MFT Blending card paper for image and sentiment
miscellaneous - charm; divine twine;  Nellies oval die; copics; glossy accents; SU corner punch; Recollections pearl stickers; MFT Dainty dots die-namics; die-namics for sentiment

Here's the challenges:
My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club MFTWSC12222010 - Simply Dienamic
For Fun - Anything Goes (not just paper crafting - so here's one of my knit projects)
Simon Says - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Tuesday Morning Sketches #73 - Embellish It

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you're having a wonderful Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate.  I hope you'll come back again.

Sweet Dreams

It's Twisted Thursday at Shirley's 2 Girls but this week we're taking a break.  So sit back and relax.  Instead of making a card for this challenge make one for yourself, the one you've been waiting to get around to but haven't had the time.  Use the image you've been dying to ink up or print out.
AND you can still go shopping at the store.  Buy yourself a present.  I always buy myself plenty of Christmas present because I want to make sure I get things that I love.  Hey, I'm serious, if you've ever gone shopping with me you know it's true.  I will be visiting the Shirley's 2 Girls shop in just a short while, maybe we'll bump into each other there.
I can't find the "cheat sheet" where I wrote down my deets and I've already sent this card off to someone so I'm going to try to remember what I used.
I think these are the deets:
stamp - digi image "Sweet Dreams" from Shirley's 2 Girls
ink - HP printer
paper - Doodlebug dp; Stampin' Up Certainly Celery cs for mat and Kraft for card base; Georgia Pacific cs for image and sentiment
miscellaneous - copics, stickles, Doodelbug candy shaped brads; I think the pink things in the scallop points are Candy Dots; nestibilities
Here's the challenges:
Freshly Brewed challenge 27 - Merry Christmas

Simon Says - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Paper Playtime #30 - Christmas
If the Shoe Fits FF#59 - Get  Krafty
Paper Sundaes #49 - Cut It Out - the image is cut out

Thank you stopping by, I hope you'll come back again.

Time Out

Has it gotten to you yet?  If it hasn't more power to you.  If you've got everything under control why don't you join us at Shirley's 2 Girls for a twisted challenge.  This week the twist is "Flock".  I used it on the Santa hat trim.
This image is "Christmas Cheers" and you can pick it up here in the S2G shop.  It's a digi image so you can make it as teeny tiny as you like or as large as the paper your printer can take.
Doesn't this chair look like the one you'd plunk in?  It's supposed to look like velvet, well maybe if you squint.  The papers are Graphic 45.  Can you see that I used one of the dp like a ribbon, it's the little striped pieces under the snowflake edges.  When you use this punch you get some snowflakes and a tiny strip of paper left over.  I've used all these pieces on the card.  You really have to look closely to find all the snowflakes but they are there and they've gummy bling in the centers.  Any flake you see on the plaid dp is one of the punched flakes.
If you're like me you're squeezing in Internet time here and there.  So I won't keep you much longer, just enough to list the deets and the challenges and to remind you to that we'd love to see your creation, so post it on the S2G challenge blog.  Who knows, maybe you'll be this week's winner.

So here's the deets:
stamp - S2G "Christmas Cheers" digi image
ink - HP printer; Ranger tea dye sponged on edges
paper - Georgia Pacific cs for image; Graphic 45 "Christmas Past" collection
miscellaneous - EK Success snowflake punch; Taylor's tiny twinkles, snowflake charm; ribbon, flock; copics

Here's the challenges:
Shirley's 2 Girls - use flock
Cupcake Craft Challenge #121 - non-tradional Christmas (I think the colors gold and pink are non-traditional)
Stampin' Royalty #50 - Bring on the Bling (the centers of all the snowflakes)

Stamp with Fun #89 - Christmas
For Fun - Christmas
Freshly Brewed #27 - Merry Christmas

Thank you for visiting, I hope you'll come back again.

I Remembered....

NOT!!!  I just sent this card out for a friend's birthday, too bad it was a week late.  If I had a decent photo of the inside you'd see that there's a belated sentiment stamped on the beige cs.

This is a crazy time of year, it's hard to keep it all organized isn't it?  It's getting harder and harder to find the time to make a card, and the time to write a blog post.

Since I need to keep this brief I'm going straight to the deets:
stamp:  My Favorite Things "I Remembered"
ink - Memento Rich Cocoa
paper - SU "To the Nines" dp, SU "Soft Suede" cs; My Favorite Things beige perfect panel for the stamp; dark brown scrap cs mat
miscellaneous - MFT die-namic; buttons, Making Memories brads

I don't have any challenges for this card.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again.

Brrrr

I get the shivers just looking at this card.  I hate snow, even when I was a kid I hated snow.  If there's snow out there it's cold.  I don't like the cold.  But do you care?  Based on all the challenges that are asking for snow, snowflakes or snowmen I'm guessing no one cares that I hate the white stuff.  Oh well...
This week the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club's challenge is to "Create a Winter Scene",  I should make a card with one of the WTG bikini images, afterall, here in Florida people are still going to the beach.

Here's the deets:

Big Mojo Bear

This is one of the Cat's Pajamas latest releases.  He's called "Big Bear".    That pretty much says it all.
This dp has been in my stash for over a year so when I saw "Big" I figured the stamp and this paper would be a perfect match.  But "Big" is pretty big so he's covering most of the bears on the paper.  You can see one peeking out over the "snow!" sentiment and another one peeking out from under the snowflake.   A good thing about big images is that you can easily paper piece it which I did here.
You may not be able to see that the paws and inner ears are covered with flower soft or that there are turquoise bling on the snowflake.

Here's the deets:
stamp - image  the Cat's Pajamas "Big Bear"; sentiment the Cat' Pajamas "Candyland Christmas"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black for the image; Ranger Shabby Shutters for the sentiment and sponged around the image mat
paper - turquoise cs for card base Nicole; Imaginisce Polar Expressions dp; MFT Sno-Cone cs for snowflake and icing
miscellaneous - Labels One nestibilities; Spring Green Candy dots; SU curvy square punch for sentiment; the Cat's Pajamas snowflake and icing dies; the Cat's Pajamas twine; flower soft; snowflake charm; green felt

Here's the challenges:
the Cat's Pajamas #138 - use any TCP Holiday stamp
Mojo Monday #168 - Sketch
Daring Cardmakers - Snow Much Fun
Belli Challenge #106 - Christmas Embellishments/Papers
L'il Red Wagon #58 - Use a die cut

Let It Snow, Let It snow....

Let it snow! Just not here. I moved a couple thousand miles to get away from that white stuff.

If you like snow I hope you have a white Christmas but for me, I like palm trees and flamingos. But that's not why you're here so onto my project.
It's Twisted Thursday again at the Shirley's 2 Girls challenge blog and this week the twist is "Glitter and Bling". Don't you just love glitter and bling. I wish the glitter and bling on this box showed up a little more. I used some Taylor's Tiny Twinkles on the image's falling snow and there's some glitter on the snow on the chair and the drifts on the ground. I need to work on my photograhy skills cause my pics are just not showing what the cards and projects look like. Maybe if you click to enlarge the image you'll be able to see them better but I digress...
It should be easy for you to join us this week. You can get another gift or card knocked off your list so go get your stamps and papers out and join in the fun. You could win a digi image, all you have to do is make a card or project using glitter and bling and link it up on the S2G challenge blog.
This is a really easy, fast, inexpensive (yeah, cheap, but inexpensive sounds so much more elegant) and fun to make project. It's an altered pencil case I picked up at CVS for less than $2. How could you go wrong for that price?
I'm a sucker for anything with an Adirondack chair on it. I had to have this stamp. It's "Winter Chair", you can get it and lots of other fun, cute and fanciful winter and Christmas images in the S2g shop so go take a look and spoil yourself with a little purchase. You deserve it.

To make this all you need to do is cut a 12 x 12 piece of dp in half. Score it at 1/2", 3-1/2", 4-1/2", 7-1/2", 8-1/2". Hold the paper around the box and press it down where the closing snap is, to get a marked spot, then punch a hole there. Put a strip of red line or score tape down the 1/2" edge, on the top and bottom of the 3" edges and down the edge of last side and tape it onto the case. Punch a slot on the image's mat, run your ribbon through it and cut it at a length that will go around the box and allow you to tie a bow. I added a charm to my bow, but you know me, I use a charm whenever possible. Adhere the mat to the box, tie the bow. You can fill it pencils and pens or markers, maybe a gift card or ribbons. Whatever you put inside it, it's going to be a fabulous present.
Need some other ideas to get your mojo going.  Well stop at the S2G site and see what the rest of the design team has cooked up.

Here's the deets:

stamp - "Winter Chair" digi image from Shirley's 2 Girls

ink - HP printer

paper - Gerogia Pacific for the image; MFT Sno-Cone cs for mat; Imaginisce dp

miscellaneous - ribbon, snowflake charm, Taylor's Tiny Twinkles; circle punch; glitter; copics

Three Times the Fun!

It's time for another Cooking It Up with Katie challenge. This week we're sponsored by Stamping Dragon and the recipe is Red, Christmas (if you don't celebrate Christmas you can make it birthday or get well or another holiday) and Layers.

I like this candy cane digi so much I had to put three of them on my card. In fact there are six of them. It's not clear in this photo but I colored six images and cut three of them out. I popped them up on dimensionals and placed them on top of the three matted images. The matted images are also popped up and then the argyle layer is popped up too. I think I got the layers done! The red and Christmas part is pretty obvious.
The dp on the card base has a blue cup in the design. I pulled that color for my mats and ribbon. The ribbon is very sheer so it doesn't show well in the photo but the blue really pops on the card. The red on the candy canes is covered in Christmas Red stickles. In my charm stash I had one candy cane and this strikes me as the perfect card for it. For the final pop I put some green rhinestones in the corners. Did you notice the little notches in the corners of the mats? That's a retired Stampin' Up corner punch.

I wish I could show you all this card in person. While it looks cute in the photo there is so much that gets lost. The stickles, the ribbon, the rhinestones and the dimensionals all make this card so much livelier in person.

Now it's time for you to show us what you can do with red, layers and Christmas. Don't forget to link your creation up on the Cooking It Up With Katie challenge blog.

Here's the deets:

stamp - digi image from Stamping Dragon

ink - HP printer; Ranger Weathered Wood sponged on the card base edges

paper - argyle dp Making Memories; base dp Imaginisce; Georgia Pacific cs for images; MFT Sno-Cone cs for mats

miscellaneous - copics; rhinestones; stickles; MFT ribbon; TCP bakery twine; SU corner punch; candy cane charm

Secret Crafter #112 - Christmas

A Pair of Purple Trees

I bet you love color, love to see how one color looks with another color.  Love to see what colors the designer paper companies are featuring.  How thrilling it is when they pick your favorite combinations.  Isn't playing with colors one the best things about paper crafting.
Well, I love purple, from the deepest violet to the palest lavender and every shade in between.  So it drives me bonkers when I try to post the cards I make that are mainly purple.  They never look right.  They look more blue than purple.  But this time I've gotten closer to the actual colors than ever before.   However the paper with the small print on it is showing a little too blue so use your imagination to see it as purple.  Maybe squinting will help.
Because I love purple I was thrilled to see that this week's Cat's Pajama challenge was a color challenge to use aqua, ice blue and lavender.  And how equally fortuitous for me to have just received a package of Creative Memories papers that feature those colors.  Wohoo!  Some days it just comes together.
Have you seen the newest dies from the Cat's Pajama.   On the first card I used the "Icing" cut up and the snowflake cut up.  I'm loving them both, and dying for a Hostess cupcake or Snowball.  Is it me or has the paper crafting community gone out of its way to make me want to eat cupcakes whenever I go on-line?

For  the second card I used some Glitzy Glitter on the snowflake, I'm telling you that snowflake is just yummy.  Isn't it just perfect for winter cards?  I think so.

Here's the deets:
stamp - The Cat's Pajama "Your Gift"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
paper - MFT perfect panels for image; SU Orchid Opulence for card base and mats; MFT Sno-cone for mats and snowflakes; Creative Memories "Cheerful Winter" dp
miscellaneous - The Cat's Pajama's "Snowflake" and "Icing" Cut Ups; MFT "Doily" die-namic; copics; snowflake charm; glitzy glitter, SU corner punch; TCP Divine twine; MFT ribbon; Viva pen for pearls on 1st snowflake; lavender embroidery floss on second card

Here's the challenges:
The Cat's Pajama TCP Tuesday 137 - colors - aqua, ice blue, and lavender
Crazy for Challenges C4C66 - sketch 1st card
Raise the Bar #46 - Trees
Just Add Ink #46 - Critters
Paper Cutz #7 - use 2 patterned papers

Fruitcake Anyone?

This is Shirley's 2 Girls "Fruitcake Angel".  Isn't she just a little twisted?  Well, that's okay cause it's Twisted Thursday, that's right we're back to challenges and this week it's buttons and bows.  I put so many buttons on this card I couldn't fit the sentiment "You say fruitcake like it's a bad thing".  AND the two other sentiments that come with the image are a equally funny.
Fruitcake has such a bad reputation but I have to tell you that in my family the Italian fruitcake is something we adore. It's too bad that it's so difficult to make, my aunts no longer make it and no one else wants to carry on the tradition.  One year I took a vacation day to learn how to make this cake.  As much as I love the cake it's something that I couldn't do alone and no one else is up to the task.  Lots of rolling dough.  It's rolled and filled with honey, cloves and nuts and raisens, then layered and cut and wrapped into a circle shape.  Maybe one year my daughter will want to give it a try but I digress...
To make the card (you might want to click on it, that way you can see a larger version of it) I used a Memory Box pink card base.  To make the papers stand out I sponged the edges with Ranger Worn Lipstick.  The pearls on the mat were made with a Viva pen.  The bow was tied onto a Spare Parts clip and attached to the mat.  The little white dots were made with a gel pen.
I think I have to send this card to my Aunt Kay, she made those cakes for so many years she'll get a kick out of it.
It's time for you to join us.  Just make a card or project with the twist "buttons and bows" and link it up to the S2G blog for your chance to win a prize.  All the details are here.  You don't have to use S2G images to play but if you have them we'd love to see you use them.  If don't have them but want to get some you can shop for them here.

Here's the deets:

paper - Doodlebug dp
miscellaneous - copics, ribbon, charm, Viva pen, gel pen, Spare Parts clip, buttons, nestibilities

Hoppin' and Shoppin'

It's time for the MFT December release blog hop, wohoo!  If you're following the hop and arrived here from Julie's blog then you are in the right place.  If you just happened upon this post welcome aboard, you're very close to the beginning of the hop, why don't you stop by Kim's blog and follow along for some My Favorite Things yummieness.   While you're hopping take the time to leave some love on all the blogs because there will be a prize for some lucky person but you gotta leave a comment to be in the pool.  When you finish hopping go shopping.

The hop is the icing on the cake for me and rest of temporary Design Team.  I know they feel the same way cause I've been reading all their posts this week.  What a blast this has been!  I can't thank Kim enough for the opportunity to be part of the team.

Onto my project.  It's an altered pop top can.  To make one of these all you need is a can with a pop top and one of those new fangled can openers that slice under the edge.  This is a Progresso soup can, I wanted something large enough to hold a scarf or a pair of socks and large enough so that I could use the "Heartfelt" stamp for decoration.  I stamped the image onto Blending Card by X-press, this is great paper if you're going to be working with copics. It was easy to cut the image out and wrap around the can.   I think the MFT Perfect Panels is the best paper for working with copics but it is thick and will be a bit more difficult to work with for this project.

You can use smaller or larger cans, you check that it'll be big enough for your gift and of course large enough for your stamped image.  A small can would be great with the sentiment stamps.  Your kids would love it with cash inside but if you have a crafty friend (like me hint, hint) you could put MFT ribbons, or baby brads, or buttons, or hot fix crystals inside, basically any Adornments works.

Once you've decorated the can all you need to do is apply some good strong clear glue to the edge of the lid and put it back in place. You've got a gift container that will knock the socks off your non-crafty friends.

This post isn't intended to be a tutorial on how to make one of these.  There is a tutorial on Splitcoast in the Resources section.

Thanks for stopping by, it's been a pleasure sharing my project with you.  It's time for me to pass you along to Sherrie.  I'm dying to see what she's got tonight.  She always has wicked good stuff to show off and she gives great directions for making your own.

Since it's the holidays, why not ask your honey to go the MFT store and buy a gift voucher, or you could make a wish list with the website at the top and leave it on your honey's pillow.

Don't forget to leave some love on all the blogs.  We love to read your comments and someone will be a winner of a gift voucher.

Here's the deets:

It's Today!!!

It's finally here, it's MFT release day. You're finally going to be able to shop for the new goodies - tonight at 10 PM (here). Of course we'd love for you to join us for the release party at the MFT Splitcoast forum, starting at 8PM. Sadly, that means this is my last day of sneak peeks but it's been a total blast and I hope you've been enjoying it as much as I have.

Today I have two cards to show you. The first one uses the iconic WTG (Who's That Girl?) "From the Bottom of My Heart". She comes with two other images (a bunch balloons and a box of candy- both so fun) and lots of sentiments all of which are perfect for making a Valentine or for any time you want to express your love.

This card uses one of my (and everybody else's) "go to" lay-outs. Because I use it so much I'm always looking for something to make it a little bit different. This time the Dainty Dots Die-namics did that. I used it for an inside border on the top and bottom of the cross element of the card. I like the way it looks and I'm sure it'll be appearing on more of my cards. In fact...

Here it is again on my next card. This one uses one of the sentiments from the "Clearly Sentimental About Love" set. If you visit here regularly you probably know that I have never ventured into making a "sentiment" card. I wasn't sure I could do it but here it is. This time when I used the new Dainty Dots die-namics I wove a MFT Spring collection ribbon through them. I also used the the Rolled Rose die-namic. I hardly ever use flowers but this die is becoming a favorite of mine especially because you can put fun embellies in the center.

Don't forget that Kim is giving away two $10 vouchers every day of the sneak peeks. You can get the details here on Kim's blog. After 11 AM she'll have links to all the DT members who are posting samples and you just need to leave some love for a chance to win.
