PWC273 - Black and White Plus One

I just love this week's Paper Pretties PWC273 Challenge.  It's "Black and White Plus One".  You can pick whatever other color you'd like your plus one to be.  The most amazing thing about this challenge is that you can't go wrong, whatever color you pick will look good.  So pick one and get cracking so you can enter the challenge and have a chance to win five digital images.

I had a difficult time deciding on a stamp to use.  I had to do the old "eenie, meanie, miney, moe" to make my choice but I am very happy with the outcome.  Once I decided on this stamp the plus one color had to be red for the cardinal.  If the cardinal wasn't in this card I could have gone with blue for snow, orange for the carrot, any color that I like for the stripe in the scarf - you get the idea.  Now get going.

This card is so quick to make and looks great.  You can make it even quicker with a few changes.  Make it a single layer card, stamp the snowman a little higher on the card and Instead of using the ribbon and button use a washi tape to underscore him.  I have a red and white washi tape so I think I will do just that later on and post it.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Frosty -Clear"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Bazzill "Snow White" and "Grenadine Red" card stock
miscellaneous - red copic marker; Stampin' Up slot punch; red gingham ribbon; snowflake button

Here's the challenges:

The Cat's Pajama Blog Hop

I can't believe the sneaky peeks are over.  It was so much fun playing along with the Cat Pack.  I can't thank Miss Meowy enough.  She really is the Cat's Pajamas.

Of course if the sneaky peaks are done that means the stamps are going to be released today.  Now Alma is on the west coast and she hosted a party last night so if you're sitting at your computer on the east coast in the early hours of the morning don't be surprised if the new stamps aren't there yet, give her a little time and come back later.   In the meantime enjoy the bloghop.

The hop starts at Alma's blog Dancing in Pajamas.  So if you just popped in here without being on the hop why don't you join us now.  Pop on over to Alma's and follow along to see what the design team and the Swanky Stampers have created for this special event.

If you are following along you got here from the fabulous Noelle's blog Paper and Ice.  When you leave here you're going to Kimberly's blog It's So Pretty!  It's So Cute!

I made this as part of my daughter's birthday present and she actually liked it.  If you have a teenager you know how hard it can be to get things right.  Inside the bag there's a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing, her favorite.  Since the cupcake is in a plastic case I sliced up some of the dp and put it in the bag for color.

For some occasions a cupcake with a pretty tag is just the perfect gift but sometimes you need a little more.  My daughter's birthday called for more so I flipped over the tag, covered it with dp and then attached a gift card envelope to it.

Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas - One Cupcake
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Close To My Heart "Chantilly"
Miscellaneous - copics; the Cat's Pajamas "Bitty Banners", "Apron border", "Gift Card Envie" Cut Ups; hole punch; ribbon;  brads

Thanks for stopping by.  Now it's time for you to hop over to Kimberly's blog.

The Cat's Pajama's Sneaky Peeks Day 7

It's day 7 of the Sneaky Peaks.  This is the last stamp set for this release and boy have they been the BEST EVER!  But the fun isn't over yet.  There's the release party tonight and the blog hop that starts tomorrow at 12AM (or midnight tonight depending on how you look at it) on Alma's (Miss Meowy herself) blog.

For today's card bun bun is back and he's got one heck of an ice cream cone.  Can you find where I used the new bitty banner die?  It's in reverse, in the upper right corner of the ice cream paper I used one of the banner punches and sewed a button in the space it created.

This month the challenge at the Cat's Pajamas is to make a card that will fit in a long envelope.  It's a little bit out of my comfort zone but I was game to give it a try.  Basically I took the measurements of a legal size envelope  and made my card base slightly smaller and tried to figure out how to use some TCP toys on it.  Fun, fun, fun.

Don't forget there's still a chance to win today's stamp set.  Just leave a comment on the Are You In It To Win  thread and you could be picked.  How sweet is that?

Here's the deets:

The Cat's Pajama's Sneaky Peeks Day 6

It's Day 6 of the Cat's Pajamas Sneaky Peeks.  Today the penguins are up and they're staying out of trouble for a change, this release they've gone camping.  Isn't that adorable and romantic.

This card worked up very quickly.  There's just a little bit of coloring for the grass, tent and beaks and the sky was sponged.  The Cat's Pajama's Cut Ups were used for the banner, the star topper and stars.  A few green brads were used to give it a little more pop of color.

This stamp set will be available at the Cat's Pajama's store on 8/27.  In the meantime there's still a daily prize of a stamp set being made to one of the people who leave a comment on the Cat's Pajamas "In It to Win It" thread at Splitcoast Stampers.

Here'a the deets:

CIC225 Di's Digi Downloads

It's back to school time and that's the theme of this week's at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC225.   Our sponsor is Di's Digi Downloads where you can find some of the cutest images around.  Stop over and check them out, I'm sure you'll love what you see.

For my card I've used a Paper Pretties stamp and October Afternoon designer papers.
From this angle you can't see that the charm is a chalk board.  Even though there are lots of layers this card looks kind of clean and simple to me and I like that look.  If that's not your style you can dress your card up with as many embellishments as you'd like.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties - Off to School Sohpia
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black

PIO#34 - Designer Paper

It's time for a new Pile It On challenge and I think that unless you're a clean and simple fanatic you're going to like it.  We want you to use designer paper.  We don't care how many you use, use as many as you like.  Just have fun doing it.

We've got a new sponsor this week,  Red Rubber Designs.  They supplied the design team members with an image.  This is "Who Am I".  I don't know about you but I like it, a lot.  It just cracks me up and it is very me. I love the vintage design and the in your face attitude.

It was a lot of fun making this card.  I sponged Ranger Tea Dye ink around the image layer to give it an aged look and decided NOT to tear or rip the edges.  I'll give that a go on another day.   The Graphic 45 paper also has a vintage look.  A little ribbon lace, charm and bling to dress it up and it's all done.

Here's the deets:
stamp -  Red Rubber Designs "Who Am I"
ink - printer; Ranger "Tea Dye"
paper - Bazzill "Yukon Gold" and "Pinecone" card stock; Graphic 45 "Once Upon a Springtime Collection - Pixie Post", Botanicabella Collection - Dragonfly Duet" and
"Christmas Past Collection - Let It Snow" designer papers

miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up ribbon lace; twine; bee hive twine; bling flourishes

the Cat's Pajama's Sneaky Peeks Day 5

What happened to Bun Bun?  Every now and then Alma has to let some of the other characters out to play.  Today's sweet bear is versatile.  Besides a soup bowl, there's a cake and a wrapped present that could be placed on her platter.  How cool is that!   Of course there's a birthday sentiment and a get well sentiment.

You know you want to add this to your stash, and you can, it will be available on 8/27 in the Cat's Pajama shop.

While you're waiting for the big release you should stop over at the Cat's Pajama's Forum at  Splitcoast Stampers.  If you lieave a comment on the Are You In It To Win It thread you'll have a chance to win the day's stamp set.

Jellypark Friends - Things with Wings

It's time for a new challenge at Jellypark Friends.  This fortnight the theme is "Things with Wings" so get out those butterflies, birds, angels and fairies and have some fun.  If you've got something else that's got wings you can use it and you don't have to use Jellypark Friends images but if you've got them we'd love to see them.

My card uses "Butterfly Girl".  After it was colored I cut it out and popped it up on the oval die cut.  For fun I put stickles on the dots of her dress and the spots of her wings.

Here's the deets:

The Cat's Pajama's - Sneaky Peeks Day 4

It's Day 4 of the Cat's Pajamas Sneaky Peeks and I am so excited to show this card.  When I opened the package of stamps and saw this fella I actually squealed out loud.   OMG!  He's gone to outer space!  What a guy, he's my hero.
To make this card I fussy cut the bunny. He's popped up on a star that was made by tracing around the outside of the largest star in the "3 x 3 Stars" Cut Ups and then fussy cutting that out.  The real fun is that under the star is an "action wobble" spring, so the star and bun bun move around.  It looks great. The grey card stock was die cut twice.  First it was run through the Big Shot with the Chevron Cut Up and then with a Spellbinder's circle die and finally attached to the navy card stock in the hopes that it would look like a planet.  I forgot to put glossy accents on his face mask and the carrot's globe.  I'll have to go back for that.

Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas "Fly High" (available 8/27)
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" and "Paris Dusk"
paper - My Favorite Things "Nightshift Blue" card stock; Bazzill "Stonehenge" (grey) card stock; Stampin' Up "So Saffron: card stock; Crate Paper "Orbit Collection - Satellite" dsp

The Cat's Pajamas - Sneaky Peeks Day 3

It's day three of the Cat's Pajamas Sneaky Peeks and the big eared bunny is back.  Don't you just love him?  I can't get enough of him.  I love to color him and I love to paper piece him.  I love to have his ears pop over the edge of a die cut.  The bunny is just soooo dang cute and how about that big cupcake - YUM!  I could sink my teeth into that bad boy.

For this card I used the sweetest paper, literally sweetest, it's covered with all kinds of cakes and cupcakes and a matching plaid paper.  The colors are my favorites and the bunny really does look fabulous in plaid.  The banner is made with the new "Bitty Banner" die and just to keep everything matchy matchy the buttons are made with the "Buttons" Cut Ups using one of the card stocks that was used for the banner.

This adorable stamp set and banner dieas well as the rest of the Cat's Pajamas release will be available on 8/27.

Here's the deets:

The Cat's Pajama's Sneaky Peaks Day 2

The blackboard look is all the rage these days.  Sentiment stamps look great on them.  Today's Sneaky Peak from the Cat's Pajamas is just that, a set of "Sassy Birthday" sentiments.  If your best friend makes you laugh so hard that milk comes out your nose then you need to send her a sassy card.  All the sentiments in this set will crack you up and be perfect for your card to your bestie.

Don't forget to stop over at Splitcoast Stampers to comment on the Sneaky Peaks Thread.   A prize will be awarded everyday to someone picked from the comments.   It could be you so stop over there and say hello, tell us what you think about the new stamps or whatever's on your mind.

PWC272 - Girly Cards

Hey guys, it's Wednesday so there's a new Paper Pretties challenge.  This week we want you to make a "Girly Card".   That should be fun and easy for most of you.  I love girly elements but was in a subdued mood today otherwise you'd be seeing lace and ribbon and bling.  Instead I went with PINK.  Lots and lots of PINK.

You can go either over the top or simple, just make something so you can be in the draw for the prize of 5 digi images.

For my card I used the Everyday Lily stamp set. This set comes with five sentiments so besides making a birthday card you can make a thank you or a thinking of you card.  I also think this could be sent to a teenager or an adult.  So if this image isn't in your stash it's time to add it.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Everyday Lily"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" and "Grey Flannel"
paper - Bazzill "Romance Pink" and "Snow White" card stock; Stampin' Up "Basic Grey" card stock; Teresa Collins "Sweet Afternoon" patterned paper

The Cat's Pajamas - Sneaky Peaks Day 1

It's Sneaky Peaks time at the Cat's Pajamas and I am so excited because I was invited to play along.  So for the next week you have to stop by every day, you really HAVE TO stop by to see the new stamps that will be released next week on August 27.

By the way, today is my birthday and I completely identify with this bunny and this sentiment.  I will be eating cake, as far as I'm concerned there is no better way to celebrate a birthday.

Besides the new bunny stamp  I'm also using a new background die cut.  Don't you just love how the little cut out arrow shapes let the patterned paper in the background show through.  I think that is so cool and I've used it again on my card for Friday.  You're gonna love it.

Don't forget to check out what the rest of the pack created.  You can find them all over the place.  Start with the Cat's Pajama's Forum at Splitcoast Stampers and join in the conversation.  All you have to do is leave a comment on the Sneaky Peak Thread for the day and you're in for a chance to win that stamp set.

You can also find the Cat's Pajamas on Facebook and Pinterest.  AND you can sign up for the Mewsletter.

Here's the deets:

SFTW - #17 - Use Butterflies

What a great challenge Stampin' for the Weekend's got going on for the next two weeks.  It's "Use Butterflies" and our sponsor is Saturated Canary.  Who doesn't like butterflies?  Actually, my daughter hates butterflies.  If you've read some of my previous posts you'll notice that there's a trend, that is, things that I would think everybody likes, well my daughter doesn't.   If you're like my daughter, try to put your dislike aside so you can play for a chance to win the Saturated Canary prize.

You can stamp your butterfly, use a die cut or punch.  My card used a sticker and butterfly patterned paper.  We're not fuzzy about what kind of butterfly you use, just use at least one and we'll be satisfied.

PWC271 - Back To School

The new challenge at Paper Pretties is PWC271 "Back To School".  Did you look this happy as Sophia on your first day back? I did,  I loved going to school.  In fact I was in my mid 20's, had finished college and was going back part time for some more classes when my best friend pointed out to me that if I could find a way to make it profitable she knew I would spend my entire life as a student.  She was right.  Even this week I was looking at some Adult Education Classes catalogue.  My husband also loves school so can anyone explain how our mixed genes produced a child that HATES school.  So as cute as this card is I could never give it to her.

This card features "Off to School Sophia".  I fuzzy cut the image and popped it up on a scalloped oval die cut.  This die also punches holes inside the edge so I wove some baker's twine through it and hung a blackboard charm.

Play along with us by making a
"back to school" card.  Link it up on the Paper Pretties blog and you'll have a chance to win 5 digital images.

Here's the deets:

This stamp reminds me of the good old days.  My father and uncles always seemed to find those huge tires and inner tubes and we kids would have a blast playing with them.  I had many cousins (about 30) and we spent most of the summer weekends together at my Uncle Joe's.  He wanted us to have a place to be together so he built a pool in his yard and a barbecue pit and tables.  It was a magical time for us.

I hope to see you play along.  Just make a card using our theme and link it up.

Happy Wednesday and welcome to Paper Pretties PWC270 challenge to use two or more patterned paper on your card.  We don't require that you use Paper Pretties stamps or digis to play in our challenge but we are always happy to see you use them.

CIC222 - A Day for Daisies

Aren't these cupcakes just beautiful? Certainly they're too pretty to eat and that's okay because they are for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC222.  This week if you aren't inspired by the photo  you're welcome to play as a color challenge.  We've got A Day for Daisies as our sponsor this week.  There are some gorgeous images there and I know I'd love to win this one, but alas I can't.  I can however go shopping there and I just might do that later.

For my card I used "Growing in a Snow Globe".  I think this is the first image I got from a Day for Daisies and it's one of my favorites, thankfully I don't have to pick a favorite, if I did we'd be here forever.  The flowers on the cuppies made me think of the flowers growing as this fairy's hair.  I also carried the color theme to my card, it's such a beautiful soft palette.

Here's the deets:

Stampin' for the Weekend - Rick St Denis

It's the weekend and at Stampin' for the Weekend we've got Rick St. Denis for a sponsor and a challenge for you to make a shaped card.  Shaped cards are a lot of fun to receive but I rarely make them so I think it's a good thing when I get challenged to make one.

I've made a teapot, a cupcake,a  crayon, a Christmas tree, a heart and Easter egg shaped cards but I just couldn't figure out what shape I wanted to use with this image. So I did a google search for "shaped cards" and got so many ideas that I could make shaped cards for the rest of my life and not use all of the shapes that came up.  OK, I'm exaggerating but if you need an idea for your shape try that search.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Rich St. Denis "Texas the Vamp" digi
ink - printer
paper - MFT "Natural" card stock; Crafty Secrets "Heart Warming Vintage Collection" dp
