PWC308 - Mother's Day/Spring

It's time to start thinking about Mom, well it's always time to think about Mom, but in the USA her special day is coming.  So to kick start your card making this week at Paper Pretties the challenge is PWC308 Mother's Day/Spring. For those of you in countries that have already had Mother's Day, and anyone else not in the mood for a Mother's Day card our challenge also accepts spring cards.  Enter your card in our challenge and you could be the winner of five digis.  Check out the Paper Pretties Challenge Blog for all the details and to see what the rest of the design team has created.  We can't wait to see your entries.

My card uses two of the stamps from the  Cluck Part II clear stamp set.  I don't have a clue why, but I sure do love the chickens in both the Cluck sets and I adore the wire mesh in this set.  The mesh was stamped on yellow card stock and Cluck was stamped on white card stock then cut out and glued onto the yellow card stock. Then that was popped inside a frame die cut to look like an old Polaroid photo.  I couldn't help but write "Mom and Me" and the year my daughter was born on the frame.  Then to dress it up a little I stuck a bling heart on it.  It looks like the photos I have in an old shoe box except of course my mom isn't a chicken.  Can you tell that the word on the patterned pattern that's peeking out under the frame is "eggs".

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Cluck Part II - Clear"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black

Pile It On #17 - Ink on Paper

I'm back at Pile It On.  And what a week I picked to come back.  Suffice it to say, things are a little crazy for me and this is going to be a very short post.

This week Pile It On is being sponsored by Rogue Redhead Designs.  They're offering the winner a $25 voucher.  Cool!

One day while I was on hiatus from Pile It On a package appeared in my mailbox.  It was filled with some gorgeous stamps that I hadn't ordered.  Because this sponsor was so generous I just had to make a card this week. This image is beautiful, it has such a restful feeling.  I decided to keep the embellishments simple so that I can send this to a fellow I know who can use a little encouragement.  But this card could easily be turned into a card for a woman.  Instead of a knot make a bow and put a little bling or flowers on it instead of the triangles and that's it.

Here's the deets:
stamps - Rogue Redhead Designs
ink - Stampin' Up - Baked Brown Sugar
paper - Stampin' Up - Baked Brown Sugar card stock; Retro Fresh dsp; My Favorite Things Blu Raspberry card stock

PWC306 - Masculine

It's time for a new Paper Pretties challenge, PWC306, make a masculine card or project.   This is a great challenge for me because I hardly ever have a masculine card handy when I need one and I really hate to have to make a card at the last minute.  So if you're like me here's your chance to get one in your stash.  Enter your card or project on the Paper Pretties blog and you'll be in the draw for 5 digis of your choice.

My card uses my favorite masculine stamp set "Handyman".  It's my favorite because it has three great images and countless sentiments.  With this set you can make a card for any of the men in your life.  If you don't already have it, you should get it.  You'll be glad you did.

My favorite stamp changes with the weather, my mood, the holiday, whatever.  This is my favorite stamp for today.  It's so full of spring and I love the little chickie peeking out between her legs.  All that and it's fun to color!

Jellypark Friends - Happy Easter Challenge

Has Spring sprung in your neck of the woods?  I sure hope it has because I know all my friends and relatives who live in the Northern United States are sick of snow AND Easter is just around the corner.  With that in mind it's time to start using those fun Easter images and lovely  spring colors.  Put that all together and you're ready to play in the new Jellypark Friends challenge - Happy Easter!

My card features one of my favorite Jellypark images "Rabbit Costume".  It's just adorable and perfect for this time of year.  I colored the costume with copics E11, E13, and E15 and then to get the textured look I put a daub of "0" (colorless blender) on a wash cloth and lightly touched on the coloring.  Usually I will color the face, body parts and hair first but if you are going to do this texture technique you need to do the costume first so that the face doesn't blotchy looking.  It's very simple and gives the image a little punch.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Jellypark Friends Rabbit Costume digi
ink - printer
paper - Stampin' Up "Pistachio Pudding" and "Crisp Cantaloupe" card stock, "Sweet Sorbet" DSP
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up "Pistachio Pudding" Stretch Ruffle Trim; Spare Parts Burlap Gem Flowers; lace; bling; Easter Basket charm

PWC305 - Punches

It's hump day so it must be time for a new Paper Pretties challenge.

My card features Life's Treasures Sofia.  Sofia's having a fun day at the beach collecting shells and playing in the water.  Depending on where you live this might just be what you're daydreaming about, or as we say here in sunny Florida "it's just another day in Paradise."

This stamp is perfect for this week's Paper Pretties challenge PWC305 "Punches".   I don't know about you but I have a lot of punches but there are a few that I love and use over and over.  If you've been visiting here for a long time you probably recognize some of them.  For this challenge I used the beach border and the corner cut outs.  I love the border punch, I wish it went with everything.  I use it every chance I get.  The corner punch is great because it can be used all year round on any kind of card.  It's a great quick and easy way to add a little something extra to dress up your card.  Doesn't that little bit of color from the mat look pretty popping up in the image layer?  Another thing that's great about punches is that you don't need any equipment to use them so if you're on a budget you can  pick up an interesting punch to spice up your cards without breaking the bank.

Now it's your turn.  Pick up a punch and get busy playing your paper.  Don't forget to link your creation up on the Paper Pretties Challenge Blog.  You could win 5 digis.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Life's Treasures Sofia" (currently out of stock)
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" and Ranger "Scattered Straw"
paper - Bazzill "Whirlpool"; Stampin' Up So Saffron"; the Paper Company "Gold"

PWC304 No Markers

Paper Pretties challenge PWC304 this week is no markers. Ack!  No Markers!  That's probably  the hardest challenge I've faced since I've been on the design team.  Now, I have made some cards that haven't used markers, but that wasn't on purpose.  I've never sat down and thought about not using markers, that's just happened by accident. Even when I paper piece (which I did in with this card - and yes, I did cut out all those little pink details) I usually use markers on part of the image (and I would have used markers at least on the cake stand for this one) but a challenge is a challenge and I will rise to the occasion and do my very best to make a card that fits the theme.  So as much as I love to pull out my copics and color away I left them on the side of my desk and I went through my stamps to see which one I would like to play with that didn't need to be colored with a marker.  Remarkably there were a couple that would work but I haven't used this one yet so here it is - a paper pieced wedding or anniversary cake.  If paper piecing isn't your thing you can just stamp it or you can get fancy and use wet embossing.  If you want to use color there's  pencils, pastels and paint.  Maybe you can come up with another way to make your card or project - whatever you do just remember to link it up to the Paper Pretties challenge blog and you'll have a chance to win 5 digis.  I can't wait to see what you create.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Time for Cake- clear"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Bazzill "Buttercream" card stock; Stampin' Up "Blushing Bride" card stock; Paper Studio "Mirabelle" pack
miscellaneous - My Favorite Things "Oval" die-namics; cord; cake charm; Queen and Co. pearls; lace
