CIC197 - Freckled Fawn

It's time for pretty heart shaped boxes full of candy.  I love the fancy boxes and save them for storing embellishments.  This box full of treats is the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge, CIC197 which is sponsored by Freckled Fawn.   If you're looking for Washi tape the place to shop is Freckled Fawn.  But be warned, you're going to have a hard time choosing, and tape could easily become your next obsession.
For my card I was inspired by the shapes and colors in the photo.  Pink is my favorite color and I love to pair it up with brown, throw in some red to punch it up and I'm a happy camper.  Then hearts and pearls embellishments to finish it off, does it get any better?  I really enjoyed making this card, I'm looking forward to seeing what you make inspired by this photo so don't forget to link up your card on the Cupcake Inspirations blog.
Did you notice the challenge number is 197.  We're getting closer to our 200th challenge and we're really excited about it.  There's several sponsors so there's going to be lots of prizes. In the meantime stop over to the challenge blog and leave a comment, a prize will be awarded to one of the fans.

Mo Mojo

One of the challenges I visit regularly is Mojo Monday.  It's a sketch challenge and the design team always has great samples.  While I was visiting the blogs I found a card request for a young girl who is ill and will be undergoing treatments for two years.  That reminded me of something that occurred when my daughter was that age.  She was covered in large black and blue marks.  There were so many of them that I was scared and called her doctor.  The doctor sent us for blood work which was a horrible experience made better by the very caring and patient nurses.  It took about 45 minutes of coaxing and cajoling and chasing around the room.  In the end it took 3 nurses and me to hold her down and still while they drew the blood.  After a couple days of anguish awaiting the test results we found out that she did not have leukemia, but she did have something else that I've since forgotten, maybe Fifth disease, that was easily treated.  We were lucky.  But that fear, has left an indelible mark in my memory.  Anytime I hear of a sick child I remember that experience and I say a prayer for the family for health and strength and a prayer of thanks that we were spared.
I thought I knew where that request was posted but when I went back to put a link here I couldn't find it.  Hopefully the slip of paper I noted the address on is still on my desk.  I used the Mojo sketch to make a card for the girl.  This image was a freebie from Whimsie Doodles, there's usually a few there and they're all cute like this one.

Here's the deets:

HYCCT - Monster Mash

OMG!  "The Monster Mash" is the all time best Halloween song ever made, at least IMHO.  If you're too young to know it here's a link for a You Tube video.  But I suspect if you're under 45 you may not be entertained in the least.

One of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges is "The Monster Mash" based on the fact that you boobies get mashed during a mammogram.

Here's the lyrics my card is based on:
The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolfman
Dracula and his son.

As you can see Wolfie is the perfect guest bringing along a bag of treats.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Whimsie Doodle "Wolfie"
ink - hp printer
paper - Wausau "Terra Green" and "Lift Off Lemon" card stock; My Mind's Eye "Blackbird" dp
miscellaneous - copics; My Favorite Things "oval Stax" die-namics; ribbon; charm; brads; K & Co die cut chipboard

Here's the challenges:
Splitcoast Stampers HYCCT1211 - The Monster Mash
Terrifically Thrilling Thursday - Spooky
Milkcoffee - Yum, Yum, Show Us Your Favorite Sweet Treats (would you believe I LOVE candy corn just like in Wolfie's bag)
Delightful - Halloween Treats
Cute Card #239 - Got Glitter (the skull is covered in black glitter)
Crafty Sentiments - Bows or Ribbon
2 Sisters - #114 - Cute and Creepy
Sweet Stampin' - Halloween
Really Reasonable Ribbon #58 - Halloween and Ribbon

HYCCT means Hope You Can Cling To.  That's the October challenges in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.  This challenge is to use the letters HYCCT in your card.  Not the actual letters, words that start with those letters.  This is getting clear as mud.  Use something or try a technique that begins with those letters.  I give up, I know what it means, if you want to find out hop on over to Splitcoast Stampers and read all about it.

It's Cupcake Time

Are you ready for some more Cupcake Inspiration?  Well, it's Sunday so it's time and here it is.  There's six cupcakes to inspire you.  Don't worry, you don't have to make six cards, but boy would that be a real challenge.  Just make one card or any other kind of project inspired by these cuppies and you can enter the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge.  This week we're sponsored by Whimsie Doodles.  One lucky person will win 2 images from the April release.  That's a good  reason to get inky.

Here's a link to where you can find all the challenge details, the linky tool and see what the rest of the design team has created.

can you see the mushroom charm?  click on the photo to enlarge it
Here's what I made using the Whimsie Doodle digi image "Gnomiegobig".  Now I don't have a clue what the sentiment means but I think the gnome holding that big old flower is so doggone cute that I don't care what the sentiment means.  It sounds sports related and as anyone who knows me can testify, my knowledge of sports is pathetic.  If any of you kind people (Eileen, you know everything- help me) who leave comments know what it means, let me know.  As I was saying, it is a cute image, and if you don't like the sentiment you can crop it out.  I was inspired by the colors and the mushroom cuppie inspired my dp and charm choice.  What will you inspire you?  I look forward to seeing what you make.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Whimsie Doodle digi "Gnomiegobig"
ink - HP printer and Ranger "Weathered Wood" for pouncing
paper - Georgia Pacific white cs for image; Stampin' Up Bold Brights blue cs for card base and mat; Nicole brown cs for mats; blue dotted paper Lasting Impressions "Smooth Sailing Dots"; maroon paper with white dots Me and My Big Ideas "Reds - Color Basics"; Imaginisce "Twitteredpated Mushroom Fancy"
miscellaneous - copics; divine twine; mushroom charm; Kaaiser dark blue rhinestones; ribbon; nesties "deckled rectangles"
