CIC215 - Prairie Fairy

Happy Father's Day!   Whatever you do, whoever you  celebrate I wish you a beautiful day.

In keeping with the holiday Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC215 is fishing themed.  Funny thing is that my father, brothers, and husband were/are not into fishing.  They may have gone once or twice but they were not into the sport.  Even funnier my stepdaughter, and best friend Susan love fishing and even my daughter likes to fish.  You can make your card masculine or feminine, we just want you to make a card that this photo inspires.

This week one of my favorite sponsors is back - Prairie Fairy Designs and I'm using one of my favorite images "Fishin' Gilly"  I love this girl.  When I color a Gilliam image I usually make her hair red and then I'm reminded of my friend Judy's who had gorgeous curly red hair.  Such pleasant memories.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Prairie Fairy "Fishin' Gilly"
ink - printer
paper - Bazzill "Hillary (green)" and "Yam" card stock; October Afternoon "Campfire"
miscellaneous - copics;  My Favorite Things "Solid Bracket" border die-namics; divine twine; button; dew drops

CIC185 Prairie Fairy Designs

Looks like winter in the northeast and the cooler climates.  Looks like someone went crazy with icing, that's my kind of baker.  The photo is for this week's  Cupcake Inspirations challenge  For me the northern woods theme is more inspiring for card making than the icing.  Prairie Fairy Designs is our sponsor this week and there are some great images that are perfect for this challenge.  I love the moose stamps and used one for my card.

The "Campfire"patterned paper pad by October Afternoon goes really well with the outdoorsy moose image.  The charm is a rabbit, would you believe I don't have a moose charm, unbelievable but true.

For October Splitcoast Stampers is having the "Hope You Can Cling To" challenge.  There will be a new challenge daily.

"Understand Blue" aka Lydia is hosting the first challenge "Show Me What You're Made Of".  What's your style?

The cards that reflect my basic style are made with cutesy images that can be colored.  There's usually a couple layers and mats, machine or faux stitching, bling and I try to work a charm onto most of my cards.  Some days I'll distress but it's not my go to thing.  I like to play in challenges and make my cards with a couple in mind.

CIC177 Relax - Frankie Says So

When I see a bubble bath the first thing I think is "Relax" and then I think of Frankie goes to Hollywood singing "Relax (Don't Do It)".  Some of you may need to ask your parents or your grandparents who Frankie is or you can watch this  You Tube video.   If you go off and make a 1980's big hair kind of card for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge, well, at least I'll understand why.

This week we're sponsored by one of our regular sponsors Prairie Fairy Designs.   I love the Gilly stamps and this one is just perfect for this challenge.  If you think she's a cutie you need to go visit the shop.  You can find a Gilly for just about every occasion or hobby, and if it isn't there now it'll be there sooner or later.  If you need little boy images there's Lewis and Dillan, Gilly's male counterparts.  The kids aren't the only stamps, there's plenty of others, something fore everybody.  Play along with us this week for a chance to win a gift certificate.

Gone Fishing

CIC174
Here's the Cupcake Inspirations CIC174 inspiration photo for this week.  The more I hang around the Internet the more I see that you can find a cupcake decorated for every occasion, every hobby, basically everything.  Isn't it amazing?  It used to be that if you wanted to dress up your cupcakes the decorations were little plastic models on picks that you stuck into the icing but these days bakers are ingenious sculptors making the decorations out of sugar and food products.  Watching them on television shows gives you a window into what goes on in their heads and kitchens.  They are artists, aren't they.

In case you don't recognize that little redhead, that's Gilly from Prairie Fairy Designs.  Just like the cupcakes there's lots of Gilly's for your cards and crafting projects.  Of course the store isn't limited to Gilly images there's plenty more, you should make a stop over there.  Be prepared, you'll want to shop.  Or you can enter a card into the Cupcake Inspirations challenge and be the winner, in which case you'll get to go shopping with your prize.  So get your fingers inky and play along, you never know, this could be your lucky week.

Here's the deets:
ink - hp printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Sno-Cone" and "Red Hot" card stock; October Afternoon "Campfire" dp
miscellaneous - copics; bic pen; ribbon; Blue Moon fish charm; buttons; corner punch; Spellbinder's "Scalloped Square" die

CIC - Flyin' Gillian

Here's this week's Cupcake Inspirations photo.  There's some great colors and images there.  Does it get youthinking about planes or about taking a trip on one?   Does it make you want to eat a cupcake?  The inspiration photos usually make my mouth water so I have to stay in my crafty room where food is not allowed.

This week we're being sponsored by Prairie Fairy Designs.  One of my favorite stamp companies because there's always a fun image to use.  I especially like the Gillian images and how lucky for me there's a couple of Gillian flying a bi-plane.  If you need cards for boys, there's Lewis flying too.  Lots of other fun stuff too.  Play along with us, you could win some too.  Wouldn't that make your day?

Spring is on the Way

CIC150
When you start seeing cute little chickies and duckies instead of Santas and snowflakes it can only mean spring is on its way.  When I lived in the north it was a favorite time of year.  So I imagine there are many of you enjoying the first glimpses of budding flowers.  Just remember, as my mom used to remind me that you never know what kind of weather March is going to serve up and if you're planning to march in a St. Patrick's Day parade you could be wearing shorts or your heavy coat.  You might start with one and end in the other.

Well, these cuppie chickies are the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.  This week we're sponsored by Prairie Fairy Designs .  They have generously supplied the design team with images.  If you're a fan of Gilly (who isn't) then you must check out the challenge blog because some of  the DT have used adorable Gilly images, just perfect for this time of year.  For me it was a bit of a struggle picking an image to use, I really do love Gilly and they were all great choices to use in this challenge but in the end  I decided on the Spring Ducks.  Of course that just means that some other day I'll have to use Gilly.  It all works out in the end.

Cupcake Time

CIC 132
How cute are these?  I'd like to sink my teeth into that purple monster.
These are your inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge.  This week Prairie Fairy is back as our sponsor.  I know you'll want to win the prize of 5 digis of your choice.  So get your crayons ready and give it a go.  The only down side of having Prairie Fairy sponsor us is that I have a terrible time deciding on an image.

For my card I chose Pumkin Dillan .  Stop by the Cupcake Inspirations blog to see some other fun Halloween images being used.

If you've been reading my posts you know that things are a bit crazy for me.  Well, they're getting crazier.  The sellers of the house we are buying were finally approved for a short sale so now we have moving to add to everything else.  I'm thrilled it's finally happening.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Prairie Fairy "Pumkin Dillan"
ink - hp printer
paper - K & Co "KP Halloween" pad; Bazzill "Tangelo" and "Witch Hazel"

Pink and Purple

CIC124
I've gone to heaven.  Pink and purple are my favorite colors.  Flowers in icing are very high on my favorites list too.  If it didn't make me dream about eating cake I'd frame this photo and stick it right in front of my work space.  When I laid eyes on this photo I didn't feel like trekking to a bakery so I got busy working on a card for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge.  We're sponsored by Prairie Fairy.  The winner will have a choice of 5 images, nice prize, if I could I'd be playing along.

can you see her pearl earrings?  click on the photo to enlarge it
For my card I used one of Prairie Fairy's Gilly images.  This character has grown on me.  She's so darn cute and lots of fun to color.  She's perfect for a little girl's birthday card but equally fun for an adult.

To give her eyeglasses the look of actually having lenses I used Ranger's Glossy Accents.  To punch it up a little there's some stickles in her hair and on the green stripes and dots on the cake.  Those yummy looking flowers on the cake inspired me to dig out some of the flowers I horde.

The stickles and glossy accents were still wet when I took the photo so there's no picture of the inside.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Prairy Fairy "Birthday Gilly"
ink - hp printer
paper - Georgia Pacific white cs; Doodlebug "Cake and Ice Cream"; MFT "Bubblegum" cs; Bazzill "Intense Kiwi" and Intense Amethyst"
miscellaneous - copics; stickles; Ranger's Glossy Accents; lavender lace; button; brads; Maya Road big pink central flower; assorted flowers from Michael's $1 bin; sewing machine

Yummy Time

CIC115 - inspiration photo
Don't you just love these cupcakes?  They are so colorful, and there's so many little designs in the frosting that you're bound to be inspired.  At least that's what we're expecting.  These are the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspirations CIC115 challenge.  This week the sponsor is Prairie Fairy offering a prize of 5 single images of the winner's choice.  Now that's a great prize!

The "sweeties" (the Cupcake's DT) were given our choice of images for playing this week.  There are so many great images it was hard to choose.  In fact I started out thinking I was going to use the "daisy fairy" but when I saw this "Birthday Gilly" well I just had to have her because her cake reminded me of the cupcakes in the photo.  I used the colors in the photo to color my image and to pull my papers.  How are you inspired?  We can't wait to see what you make.  It can be a card or any king of project.  Need more inspiration?  Check out the Cupcake Inspirations challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team did.  You'll find all the challenge deets and of course, the linkey thingy.

By the way, I didn't forget to finish the inside of my card but I did forget to take a photo of it.

Here's the deets:

It's Cupcake Time Again

Is Sunday a lazy day for you?  First off you sleep in.  Then when you finally get up you take your time going through the paper, reading the Parade and all the sales flyers.  Later you move onto your computer to check out the challenges and then you move into your craft space and make a couple cards.  Or do you live in the real world and have a family.
Whatever kind of day you have, you can probably use some inspiration so we Sweeties at Cupcake Inspirations have got this lovely platter of cuppies to get your grey matter moving.
This week's sponsor is Prairie Fairy who gave the sweeties images to use, you can see some of the other images by hopping over to the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge blog where you'll also find the details and the linky thingie for your project.

Can you tell that's a charm hanging off the lace.  It's got Asian symbols on it.

I picked the Japanese Lanterns image.  This image reminded me of summer parties when I was a kid.  The lanterns were a popular decoration.  Because that was a long time ago I decided to make a distressed card.  I think I spent more time making this card look shabby then I spent doing everything else.  I particularly went out of my way to mess up the stitching by pulling out the threads from some parts and letting snippets show.  Then everything was smudged and rubbed with a couple different inks and the edges were scraped up.    It looks even better in real life.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Prairie Fairy digi "Japanese Lanterns"
ink - HP printer; Ranger "Tea Dye" and "Antique Linen"
paper - Stampin' Up dark pink cs; Recollections beige cs; MFT Pink Lemonade cs
miscellaneous - copics; brads; ZVA crystals; lace; charm; twine; sewing machine; MFT die-namics "Lacey Doily"; SU Embossing plate
don't forget the inside

So Sweet

who could cut this cake?

This cake is the most beautiful thing I've seen this week.  It's jaw dropping gorgeous.  Who could put a knife to this?  Well I'm glad I'm not faced with that dilemma.  My job was to use this photo for inspiration, now that I can do.  How about you?
This week at Cupcake Inspirations the challenge is to make a card or project using this bit of scrummy-liciousness as your inspiration and if that isn't enough to get you inky the prize this week is 5 images from Prairie Fairy.  Did you get that?  Are you double checking, yes 5, FIVE images.  The design team got to pick an image to use and it was not an easy choice, there are so many beautiful images available at Prairie Fairy.  Stop over at Cupcake Inspirations to see some more of the images you could win.  The DT have made some beautiful eye candy to get your creative juices flowing.  You'll also find the rest of the rules (don't worry it's pretty laid back, but you know there's no back linking, that sort of stuff) and the linky thingy to post your creation.
As I was telling you, Prairie Fairy gave the DT a choice of images.  For my card I chose to use "So Sweet" and that is the perfect name for this fairy.
I used the colors and looked for a paper with a design similar to that on the cake.  What will you do?  I can't wait to see your card or project so go get inky and then get linky.  I'll be checking.

Here's the deets:
can you see the flower charm?  click on the pic to enlarge it.
