CIC235 Stamp Fairy

Don't you just love the gorgeous fall colors?  I sure do, but I don't get to see the leaves change here in sunny Florida so I love to see all the beautiful fall themed cards and paper crafts around the Internet.  That makes this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC235 a very fun one for me.  It's sponsored by Stamp Fairy and that's just the icing on the cake or cupcake so to speak.  The winner of this week's challenge will receive a $10 gift certificate to spend in the Stamp Fairy shop. That's going to be fun for someone.   The design got to use some cute images and this week a couple members of the Stamp Fairy design team joined us making samples so you really must stop over to see all the creations on our blog.  Then get busy making your card or project.

My card is using the digital image Mimi Falltime.  How cute is she?  I know she's just adorable.  It's colored with copics.  The edges of the square are punched with one of my favorite Stampin' Up corner punches and the orange leaves were made with an EK Success punch.  Everything else is just straight edge cuts.  The acorn charm is from Oriental Trading.  The punches and charm are old so if you are trying to get this look dig into your embellies and you'll find something to substitute.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Stamp Fairy - Mimi Falltime
ink - printer
paper - My Favorite Things Safety Orange, Gumdrop Green and Orange Fizz card stock; Authentique  Collection:Thankful dsp
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up corner punch; EK Success leaf punch; twine; charm

CIC201 - Stamp Fairy

The Cupcake Inspirations 200th challenge party's almost over, but first we need to announce the winners. If you entered all of the designers blogs don't forget to visit them again to see if you were a winner.  Thank you to everyone who stopped to leave a comment on my post.  I wrote all your names on little pieces of paper, folded them up, put them in a bowl and choose one.  While I was tossing the papers my husband woke up from his nap and asked a million questions about what I was doing.  He never did understand my answers and he felt left out when I wouldn't let him pull the winning slip.  Too bad, he can have his own contest if he wants to pick winners.  The winner of the $12 gift certificate from A Day for Daisies is Sian Ridley.  Sian, I'll drop you a line when this post goes live to tell you what you need to do.

This week we are sponsored by Stamp Fairy.  You will find the cutest images there, I love the little bears, and if you are a teddy bear lover you could be there for a very long visit.  The inspiration for my card is the flower with the pearl center and the colors.  This shade of blue on the hat is one of my favorites and I was very happy that I was able to match it up with these papers.  Usually I would pick my papers and then match my coloring to it because that is easier but sometimes it doesn't work that way.  For this image I pulled colors from the inspiration photo and then looked for paper that would match.  These are great spring colors so it wasn't a difficult task.  The decorations on the cupcake are also great spring images so it's going to be an easy peasy challenge for you.  Don't forget to link it up on the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog so  the sweeties can see what you created and so that you'll have a chance to win the Stamp Fairy prize.
Here's the deets:

miscellaneous - copics; butterfly brads; pearls; the Cat's Pajamas "Topper" cut-ups; Stampin' Up "Festive Paper Piercing" and "Framelits Window Frames Collection"; Spellbinder's "oval" die

This week at Stampin' for the Weekend our challenge theme is "Anything Goes" and we're sponsored by Stamp Fairy.  I've been very lucky to be on design teams for challenges that are sponsored by Stamp Fairy so I have lots of cute images (you can see more of my Stamp Fairy cards by clicking on it in the labels near the bottom of the side bar).  If you're not that lucky why not make a card for our challenge.  It's anything goes so you can make whatever you need or want.  Link it up on our challenge blog and you've got a chance to win Stamp Fairy booty.  Come on, you're probably going to make a card anyway so you might as well enter it in the Stampin' For the Weekend challenge.  We'd love to see what you create.

PIO #34 - Cuddly Critters

"Cuddly Critters" is the theme for this week's Pile It On Challenge #34.  Sounds like the opportunity to be making a cute card.  I can always use a cute card with a cuddly critter on it.  There's no sentiment on it so it could be used for a few different reasons - birthday, get well, thanks, lots of different uses for a card without a sentiment on it.

We're sponsored by Stamp Fairy so if you're the lucky winner you can add to your cuddly critter collection.

Here's the deets:

Be Bee

CIC168
Boy oh boy does this cake look inviting.  I wonder what kind of cake is under that icing.  It's probably a good thing I don't know, it's just be more temptation.  Did you ever hear people who work in bakeries say that after awhile you get sick of the stuff?  Yeah right!  I don't think so.  Maybe a lobotomy would take my mind off sweets but short of that I think cake will always be my favorite food.

This cute beehive cake is the inspiration for Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #168.  What comes to your mind?  There's those little bees, the hive, the color combo, the shapes, lots of stuff going on there if you take a good look.  If you play along with us this week you could win a prize from Stamp Fairy.  They're a great place for shopping, even better for winning a little shopping spree so get inky and play along.

My inspiration is obviously the bees.  Check out "Lenny Bee", isn't he a cutie pie?  He's from Stamp Fairy, so if you think he's cute (and who doesn't) you have got to go Stamp Fairy and shop.  If you're like me you'll probably have a hard time picking just one.

Bees make me think of beehives, which makes me think of hexagons, which makes me think of the bees crawling around in the hive which gives me hives and at that point I stop thinking about bees and start coloring.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Stamp Fairy "Lenny Bee" digi

paper - Stampin' Up "Crushed Curry" and "Bermuda Bay" cs; My Mind's Eye "Follow Your Heart - Be Anything" dp
miscellaneous - copics; My Favorite Things "Oval" die-namics; SU crochet ribbon; baker's twine; beehive charm; brads; mini brads; gold bling; machine stitching

Pile It On - Fairy Tales, Fantasy and Daydreams

Are you ready for the Pile It On challenge, well you better be cause it's here.  How about this fun theme "Fairy Tales, Fantasy and Daydreams".  There's an awful lot of images that will fit this theme so finish your web browsing then go get busy pulling out your supplies.  This week we're sponsored by Stamp Fairy, the winner of the challenge will receive a $10 gift certificate to spend in the Stamp Fairy store.  I'm sure you'll have a fun time with that.

For my card I'm using a "Garden Goblin" and Close to My Hearts "Route 66" paper because whenever I see a creature that looks like this I think about a story I saw on TV many years ago.  It was about a family who had a gnome like this on their front lawn and it was stolen.  Over the next couple months they received touristy pictures of the gnome from all over the country.   One day the gnome was home again.  They never found out who did it.

Hoppy Easter

CIC155
These cuppies would be a great dessert today, or any day.   These look like they wouldn't be that difficult to reproduce if you were so inclined.  Looks to me like it's a couple of marshmallows cut in half with pink sugar on them for the ears, mini marshmallows for the cheeks, maybe skittles or M&Ms for the eyes and nose, a little coconut on top of the icing and you'd have a reasonable facsimile of these guys.  Soooo cute and edible too.  They're also the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #155.

The cute and generous Stamp Fairy is our sponsor this week.  Lots of cute images there, you're always a winner at Stamp Fairy because there's a page of freebies there (there's a bunny freebie hint, hint).

I love the white bunnies so I used that for my inspiration and then went with the pink and blue for some color choices.  It's hard to see in the photo but the egg is a very faint aqua color and the bunny is highlighted with gray.  It's very subtle but when you see the card in real life it makes a difference.  To make the white image stand out I cut it out and then popped it up on an oval of pink card stock.

Don't Worry...

Be Happy.  Do you remember that upbeat ditty by Bobby McFerrin (here's a you tube video if you're interested)?   When it first came out It irritated me to no end.  If I had a gun I would have shot the radio (my first argument for gun control) but eventually it grew on me.   It's got a Friday kind of feel.  Time to kick back and relax, have some fun, have some me time, maybe even get some stamping done.  Which brings me to...Stampin' for the Weekend.  It's time for another SFTW challenge.  This week we're sponsored by Stamp Fairy and it couldn't be easier to play along because this week the theme is "Anything Goes".  So dig out your supplies and make anything, then link it up for a chance to win a $10 GC to Stamp Fairy.

Irish Cupcakes

I find myself wondering if the baker put green dye in the batter of this cute cuppies.  These are the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge.   We're sponsored by Stamp Fairy, one of our regular and generous sponsors.  They've got cute and sweet bear images for every occasion.  If you enter the challenge this week you may win a little shopping spree.  If I weren't a DT I'd be playing along.

There's lots to be inspired by in this photo.  There's the cute little bear, the pot of gold, the flag, the rainbow, and of course the shamrocks.  There's something for everyone in this photo and everybody's Irish in March.

You can see I've been inspired by that cute little bear and the St. Patrick's Day theme.  The Stamp Fairy bears are just about twins with the cupcake bear.

Shaped Card

It's time for another fabulous Cupcake Inspiration.  Boy do I love this cake that's topped with a cupcake.  The colors are so soft and feminine.  It looks divine, another cake I couldn't bring myself to cut but I wonder what's under the fondant.  Is it a chocolate cake or a yellow cake?  Is there fruit or lemon between the layers.  Fortunately you don't need to know what's on the inside to be inspired and if you need a little jump start there's plenty to see on the Cupcake Inspiration challenge blog.  The design team has been busy making cards for your viewing pleasure.

This week the challenge is sponsored by Stamp Fairy.  My card is made with one of the freebies on the site.  If you've never tried using a digi before, this is a great way to find out if you'd like it.  You can choose from 10 images.

I was inspired by the top layer of the cake.  I made a card shaped like a cupcake and used the colors of the top layer when I made it.  A cupcake is a pretty simple shape to make.  I took a piece of plain paper and cut it the size of an A2 card, then rough sketched the shape of a cupcake, making sure to have a part of the icing area be on the card fold.  Trace it or affix your pattern to your card base with a removable tape then cut it out.  Then cut the "icing" portion off of the pattern and do the same thing to cut out a piece of white card stock. The "icing" was fancied up  with an embossing folder and glitter.

To make the card a little more interesting I used the paper tole technique and made three layers of the image.  The bottom layer is the entire image.  For the middle layer the heart and halo are cut off.  The top layer is the head.   The close up is supposed to show you the three layers but it isn't the best photo I've ever taken.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Stamp Fairy Freebie digi
ink - hp printer
paper - The Paper Cut "Sno Cone", "Sweet Tooth" and "Red Hot" card stock
miscellaneous - copics; Spellbinder's oval, scalloped oval and cherry dies; Kaisercraft pearls; embossing folder; glitzy glitter

Layer It

Layer, layers and more layers. This week at Pile It On that's what we want to see, lots of layers. So combine this challenge with as many other challenges as you can and play along with us. Our sponsor this week is Stamp Fairy. The image on my card is Barry Halloween. He's a pretty cute little fellow all dressed up for the funnest of the holidays. If you're looking for images as cute as this rush over to Stamp Fairy, cause everything is this cute.

For this challenge I looked for a sketch (this is from the Sweet Stop) with lots of layers but for a little more interest I used a technique called paper tole. This is where you stamp more than one of the image and then you cut and paste pieces of the image on top of themselves (that's clear as mud, huh?). In real life you can see it, but not in the photo of the card face so I'm adding this close up of the face and arm with wand. Here you can see that the face is popped up on dimensionals. With the paper tole that makes 5 layers without counting the mats.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Stamp Fairy "Barry Halloween"

ink - hp printer

paper - Recollections naturals card base; Wausaw cs; K and Co "Tim Coffey Halloween Specialty" pad; Georgia Pacific white cs
