CIC222 - A Day for Daisies

Aren't these cupcakes just beautiful? Certainly they're too pretty to eat and that's okay because they are for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC222.  This week if you aren't inspired by the photo  you're welcome to play as a color challenge.  We've got A Day for Daisies as our sponsor this week.  There are some gorgeous images there and I know I'd love to win this one, but alas I can't.  I can however go shopping there and I just might do that later.

For my card I used "Growing in a Snow Globe".  I think this is the first image I got from a Day for Daisies and it's one of my favorites, thankfully I don't have to pick a favorite, if I did we'd be here forever.  The flowers on the cuppies made me think of the flowers growing as this fairy's hair.  I also carried the color theme to my card, it's such a beautiful soft palette.

Here's the deets:
stamp - A Day for Daisies "Growing in a Snow Globe"; sentiment from MFT "Astronaut Girl"
ink - printer
paper - Bazzill "Apricot" and "Glow" card stock; K & Co "SW Spring Blossom" dsp pad
miscellaneous - copics; stickles; baker's twine; ribbon; lace; bling; button

It's Time To Celebrate!!!!

Can you believe it?  The Cupcake Inspirations Challenge has reached its 200th challenge.  Thanks to all our wonderful sponsors, who generously supply prizes for a winner and samples for the design team to use.  We have been so lucky to work with these companies and  every week one of our fans has been the lucky recipient of a prize.  This week is a really big deal.  Each of the design team members have a prize to give away and there's a Grand Prize worth over $200 on the Cupcake Inspirations Blog.  Some of the sponsors are offering special discounts this week in honor of our celebration.  You can find out those details on the CIC blog post.

We've set up a blog hop so you can visit each of the designer's blogs.  For a little more fun we're being joined by some of our past designers.  If you are following the blog hop you should have started at the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog, if you didn't start there you can go back and start from there now, I'll wait here for you to come back.  You should have gotten here from our past designer Anita's blog, Anita Be Stampin' and when you're finished here you'll be going to visit Christine's blog Sweet Pea Cards.  If you get lost along the way just stop back at Cupcake Inspirations where you can find the list of all the participants as well as the links to their blogs.

For this challenge we've asked each of the designers to pick a favorite cupcake from the past challenges.  I had a ridiculously difficult time picking a favorite.  I don't think there was a single one I didn't like.  Let me give you a piece of advice.  Don't look for your favorite cupcake on an empty stomach (don't ask me how I know).  I gravitated towards the cutesy cuppies.  In the end I decided upon these adorable chickies.  They look yummy and they make me think of spring.

Each of the design team members has been teamed up with a sponsor and I am so lucky to be paired with a Day for Daisies who are giving away a $12 gift card.  In order to be entered to win this prize all you have to do is leave a comment at the end of this post, it'd be nice if you were a follower but you don't have to be.  To win the Grand Prize all you need to do is make a card inspired by any one of the 200 inspiration photos and link it up on the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge Blog.   You have until Saturday, March 8 2013 at 12:00 noon CST to make your comment here and/or link up your creation to the CIC blog.  You'll have to visit the other designers to find out how to win the prizes on their blog.  So when you're done here just start hopping along and enter whatever ones you'd like.

I do love a Day for Daisies.  It was love at first sight for me.  I think the designs have a unique, crisp and fresh look to them.  They can be used as is or they can be colored.  Here's what ADFD have to say about themselves:
A DAY FOR DAISIES Offers the very best quality and variety of digital stamps. Enjoy themed categories of over 1500 fun and whimsical digital images, including fairy tales and magical mermaids, cutie kids, vintage illustrations, sentiments and lovely designs for all occasions! We also offer an exclusive freebie section so visit us at the shop www.adayfordaisies.com and come play with us!

When I make a card for CIC I try to find an image which resembles or has something in common with the inspiration photo and I try to use the color scheme too.  For this card I used the image "Nesting" because I thought the little hatchling chicks looked like the chickies on the cuppies and I used papers that were in shades of beige and yellow like the cuppies.  Because these colors are so soft and subtle I chose a peach ribbon to give the card a little pop.  The lace that's under the ribbon was originally white.  I used Copic E40 refill ink to color it.  It's alcohol ink so it dries very quickly.  All you need to do is drop the lace (this works well with ribbon too) in a baggie and squirt in a couple drops, mush it around a little and it's done in a couple seconds.  If you're concerned about the drying just blast it with your heat gun for a couple seconds.

Here's the deets:
stamp - A Day for Daisies "Nesting"
ink - hp printer
paper - Rubber Soul "Garden Variety Collection" dp; My Favorite Things "Natural" card stock; Stampin' Up "So Saffron" card stock
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up "Festive Paper Piercing Pack" and "Window Frames Framelits"; My Favorite Things "Circle Stax" die-namics; lace; ribbon; pearls; machine stitching

Here's the challenges:
Cupcake Inspirations CIC200 - use your favorite CIC photo
A Gem of a Challenge - Add a Bow
4 Crafty Chicks #131 - You've Got Me In Stitches
Simon Says - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by.  Don't forget to leave a comment before March 8, 2013 at 12:00 Noon CST if you'd like a chance to win the $12.00 gift certificate to A Day for Daisies.

CIC196 - A Day for Daisies

I love the cupcake for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge CIC196.  I could look at it for hours and use it for inspiration over and over again. It looks gorgeous and it looks like it's tasty too.  Pink is my favorite color.  When it's used in apparel it's very flattering.   When it's used in cards it's soft and feminine. This week we have the perfect sponsor for a pretty, pink and feminine card, A Day for Daisies.  I love the images there and I'm sure you will too.  If you're not familiar with them take a look around the shop and take a look at what the sweeties have created using the ADFD images.  Then make your card and enter it in our challenge so that you have a chance to win the prize.
My card uses the color theme as well as being influenced by the photo.  The pink designer papers look fabulous with the kraft card stock.  A little more feminine touches are added by the pearls and the frame around the sentiment.  So that's my card, I'd love to see what you make so don't forget to link it up on the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog.
Here's the deets:
ink - hp printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Kraft" card stock; My Mind's Eye "Lost and Found - Blush" dp

It's Summertime

As the temperature climbs do your thoughts turn to the beach?  I love and hate the beach.  Love the way it looks, and the smell of coconut oil but I hate having sand stuck to me and later on finding it all over my car and house.  Other than that the beach is my idea of the closest thing to heaven.  So until someone invents sand that doesn't stick all over I'll just get over my dislike of sand and enjoy everything else.

The sweeties have been playing with the beach this week and now we're inviting you to join us by making a project inspired by these cuppies for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge CIC163.

AND the really great news is this week we have A Day for Daisies back as our sponsor.  Some lucky crafter is going to be very happy.   I was very happy to pick an image to use for this week.  You should shop now for an image to use for this week's challenge cause you're going to want so many of them that you might as well get a jump on it and pick up a couple now.

I love snow globes and I love mermaids so it seemed a foregone conclusion that I would chose the Mermaid in a Snow Globe.  This image is a keeper.  Can't you picture this with one of those plastic cups over it and some glitter and flower soft for shaking up.  I just may have to get my hands on them.

I've kept the card simple so that all the attention will go to the mermaid.  The card stock is embossed with a seashore theme.
Here's the deets:
stamp - A Day for Daisies - Mermaid in a Snow Globe; Taylored Expressions - It's a Banner Day 3
ink - hp printer; Studio G pink chalk
paper - the Paper Cut "Sno Cone"; Stampin' Up "Island Indigo
miscellaneous - copics; Souffle glaze pen; Taylored Expressions Banner Day 3 die; My Favorite Things Circle die-namics; Spellbinder's "Sea Scape" Impressabilities; pink bling;

A Day for Daisies

CIC158
Does the sight of butter cream icing send shivers down your spine?  It makes me weak in the knees.  Cream cheese frosting is just killer.  The other day I broke down and purchased one of those mini cupcake makers.  While I was in line the woman behind asked me something about it and all I could say was it seemed like it might be better to have a few small cupcakes in the house than one huge cake.  Cause in my mind if you eat a dozen tiny cuppies it's not the same as one big cake.  That's my logic and it works for me, don't try to tell me otherwise.  Thank goodness my doctor isn't into crafts and probably won't ever see this post, she'd be wagging her finger at me.
This week Cupcake Inspirations CIC158 has a new sponsor, by A Day for Daisies.  Lots of adorable stamps to choose from, it was really hard picking just one for this challenge.  If you win this week you're going to have a fun time shopping.

This image is "New Umbrella", one of many umbrella images.  But you don't have to use an umbrella in your creation, just be inspired by something about the photo.  While I was visiting the ADFD shop I was taken with the mermaid images and thought about using one of them, the color scheme is good for anything to do with the sea.  It's also good for boys.  Go where your imagination takes you and share the results with us by posting your card.

don't forget the inside
When you use a dark card stock for your card base it's a good idea to finish the inside of your card with at least a piece of white card stock.  If you have a large stash of paper why not make it a little bit fancier and use some of it on the inside.  This one is pretty simple but I've visited blogs where I've seen insides of cards that look better than the faces of mine.
Here's the deets:
ink - hp printer
paper - Colorbok cardstock; Basic Grey "Skate Shoppe" dp
miscellaneous - copics; ribbon; embroidery floss; umbrella charm; brads and mini brads; machine stitching

Here's the challenges:
