Hippity Hop

It's time for another Paper Pretties challenge.  This week we want you to use punches.  Now that's an easy challenge.  You can use any theme, any color scheme, any sketch, it's up to you, just use some punches.  Heck, you can even use any stamps you'd like but if you have a Paper Pretties stamp we'd sure love to see how you use it.

My card uses "Hippity Hoppity Sophia".  Sophia is one of my favorite characters and this stamp set is especially fun.  It comes with a couple sentiments and a couple small egg stamps, which you can use to make your own dp.  I used a corner rounder punch, a wavy edge border, a grass border, an oval and a scalloped oval.  I think that the green design paper matches well but sadly the punches I used on it don't show as well as they would have on a solid card stock.  Well, that's how you learn, you try something and if it works that's great and if it doesn't well, you've learned something.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Hippity Hoppity Sophia"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" and Close To My Heart "Ocean"
paper - My Favorite Things "Pink Lemonade" cs; October Afternoon :"Ducks In a Row" and "Sidewalks"
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up "Oval" and "Scalloped Oval" punch; EK Success "Dotted Wave" border punch; Martha Stewart "Grass" border punch; corner rounder punch; bling; charm; cord; My Favorite Things "Oval Stax" die-namics

CIC199 - Pink Cat Studios

These little trees are so dang cute.  I would love to have these for decorations in my home.  They're so cheerful and perfect for spring.  I love all the pastel colors and the little birds.  So when I saw  the birds in the trees image at Pink Car Studio I just had to have it to make my card for this week's challenge.  There are so many cute images there I wish I could win the prize and add a few more images to my stash.

It's perfect isn't it?  I used the colors from the inspiration photo when I colored it, and found papers that also had the inspiration photo colors.  It's hard to see the designs on the papers.  The bottom paper is a wood grain print and the one above it is tiny trees.  They are mostly in shades of greens and aquas.  For some visual interest there are three strips of different prints with more colors crossing near the bottom of the card, they have the divine twine wrapped around them.  To make the card pop I used a bright pink thread for the machine stitching as well as pink bling and a pink sentiment.

Next Sunday we celebrate our 200th challenge!  How exciting is that?  Mark your calendar, you'll want to be there and in the meantime, don't forget you can be entered for a prize if you leave a comment on the challenge blog.

Here's the deets:

Jellypark Friends - Shape Up!

It's time to shape up!  No sit ups required.  It's this week's Jellypark Friends challenge, we want to see lots of shapes on your cards. On my card there's ovals, stars, circles, squares and hexagons.

My card uses the Jellypark Friends new release "Football Supporter".  One of the most common things I see and hear stampers say is that they need masculine images.  Jellypark Friends has a good selection of boy images, and they are very cute.   I'm partial to girly images but the boys at Jellypark are so cute I can't resist them.  In the past my stash was sorely lacking cards for boys and men but with Jellypark images I've got a few stored up.  Yeah!  No more last minutes craziness trying to whip up a card.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Jellypark Friends "Football Supporter"
ink - hp printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Bana split" card stock; My Mind's Eye "Lme Twist - Fly a Kite" dsp; Core'dinations green cs card base
miscellaneous - copics; MFT "Hexagon" and "Oval Stax" die-namics; Spellbinder's "Star" dies; mini brads

PWC246 - Circle Cards

This week at Paper Pretties were going round in circles.   Challenge PWC246 is to make a circle card.  For me it was relatively easy because I have a package of plain white scalloped circle cards.  If you have to make your own circle card it isn't very difficult and there are several ways to do it.  Use your circle dies with a folded piece of card stock, leaving a small section of the folded edge inside the die when you cut it out.  Or you can cut out two full circles and a small rectangle.  Fold the rectangle in half and attach it to the inside of the circles.   You can find directions on Splitcoast Stampers in the tutorials or do an Internet search for directions.

My card was made with a Paper Pretties digital image, "Daisy".    Don't you just love the sentiment?  I get a kick out of it, it's silly and we can all use a little more silliness in our days.  The digi set includes 3 sentiments.   Besides rubber and clear stamps Paper Pretties has many digital images for sale.  Digis are great for lots of reasons.  They can be made to whatever size you want.  They always make a perfect print.  They don't require any storage space.  You  get them quickly, faster than Fed Ex and they're inexpensive.  Go take a look at the digi section of the Paper Pretties store, I bet you'll fill a cart in no time so pace yourself.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Daisy" digi
ink - hp printer
paper - Studio G card base; Imaginisce "Splash Dance- Bubble Bash"

CIC198 - Core-dinations

Yum!  These cupcakes look unbelievably delicious and pretty too.  They're your inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge CIC198.  This week we're being sponsored by Core'dinations.  Check them out, every paper crafter uses card stock and they've got outrageous card stock.  If you aren't familiar with this paper what you need to know is that the various colors have a white core, which makes it really fun to distress.

My card is inspired by the flowers and the color of the party hat.  I made a very simple card to show one of the things you can do with the core-dinations card stock.  I ran the cardstock thru my Big Shot with a floral embossing folder.  With most card stock you get the embossed look and that's that, but with Core'dinations you can sand it so that the embossing will not just stand up but will show the white interior.  It looks really good.  I should have tried ripping the paper away around the edges of the flowers, so that's an idea for another card, I'd like to see this with pink paper.

By the way, we're getting really close to the 200th challenge.  Lots of prizes will be offered for that challenge, lots of great sponsors AND in the meantime you can get in on the chance for a prize put together by the team.  Stop at our blog, let us know which was your favorite cupcake inspiration, or just leave us a comment.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Verve "Birthday Blessings" sentiment
ink - VersaMagic "Aegean Blue"
paper - Core'dinations card stock
miscellaneous - Stampin' Up "Manhattan Flower" embossing folder

Shaken, Not Stirred

Every time I see this image I think of Sean Connery, back in his days as Bond, James Bond.  This doggie is just as suave and debonair as Mr. Connery.  In fact, I think he can stand up to any of the Bond boys.  Daniel Craig watch out, you've got some stiff competition.
The Cat's Pajamas has changed up their challenge.  It's now a monthly competition so that we have more time to enter.  This month the challenge is to use an existing stamp in a new and creative way.   This stamp is a holiday stamp, at the base of the martini glass there's holly and berries.  I used the TCP "Button" die to cover that up, so that I could make a Valentine's or Love card.

Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas "Make Merry"; sentiment by Outlines
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" and VersaMagic "Aegean Blue"
paper - Bazzill "Blossom" card stock; My Favorite Things "Sno-Cone" cs; My Mind's Eye "Lucky in Love" dsp
miscellaneous - copics; bling; TCP Divine Twine; TCP "Heart Border" and "Buttons" Cut Ups; charm; hemp twine

SFTW - Distress It

It's time for the latest Stampin' For the Weekend challenge "Distress It".  Most of you have a little more free time for getting crafty so I hope you'll play along.  If your style is crisp and clean distressing can be a little intimidating but give it a try, you will probably find out that you like it.  It's fun to smudge ink on the edges of your paper.  OR, if you use a die you can smudge the ink around the inside edge of the die so that when the die is removed it looks like it has a white mat around it.  That's what was done on the ornament die for this card.  The same ink was used around the edges of the embossed panel.  It's your turn, if you're not ready and need a more inspiration stop over at SFTW to see what the rest of the design team has created. When you're finished link up your card.  We all want to see it.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Flourishes "Snow Days"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"; Ranger "Antique Linen"

PWC245 - Red, Pink and White

Love, love, love, let's celebrate love.  This week the Paper Pretties challenge PWC245 is "Red, Pink and White".  That's the perfect color scheme for a Valentine Day card for your sweetie.  Of course you don't have to make a Valentine, you can make any kind of card as long as you use red, pink and white as your main colors.  You don't even have to use Paper Pretties products but if you have them we'd love to see you use them.

My card is celebrating love of a different kind, shoe love.  It uses my favorite Paper Pretties stamp set, Sassy Shoes.  I think every woman should have at least one funky pair of shoes and at least one pair of red shoes (I have four pairs) and every stamper should have this stamp set.  Just look at those shoes, pointy toes, sky high spike heels and animal prints.  How have you lived without them.  There's even bows and flowers to decorate the plain shoe and of course some sentiments.  AND of all the cards I've made, the ones made with this stamp set get the most notice and compliments.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Sassy Shoes"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black"; MFT Color Box "Razzle Berry" and Color Box "Chianti"

CIC197 - Freckled Fawn

It's time for pretty heart shaped boxes full of candy.  I love the fancy boxes and save them for storing embellishments.  This box full of treats is the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge, CIC197 which is sponsored by Freckled Fawn.   If you're looking for Washi tape the place to shop is Freckled Fawn.  But be warned, you're going to have a hard time choosing, and tape could easily become your next obsession.
For my card I was inspired by the shapes and colors in the photo.  Pink is my favorite color and I love to pair it up with brown, throw in some red to punch it up and I'm a happy camper.  Then hearts and pearls embellishments to finish it off, does it get any better?  I really enjoyed making this card, I'm looking forward to seeing what you make inspired by this photo so don't forget to link up your card on the Cupcake Inspirations blog.
Did you notice the challenge number is 197.  We're getting closer to our 200th challenge and we're really excited about it.  There's several sponsors so there's going to be lots of prizes. In the meantime stop over to the challenge blog and leave a comment, a prize will be awarded to one of the fans.

Jellypark Friends - So Sweet Challenge

It's Friday, time for the Jellypark Friends challenge - So Sweet.  Come play along with us.   For my card I chose to use the Cake Shop digi image.  It makes me wish I could open the door, walk inside and pick up some goodies.                                                    Would you believe that the ribbon on this card was white when I purchased it?  You can dye ribbon using copics inks.  There's a ton of colors available, it's pretty likely you can find the exact color you want.  It's fast and easy.  Just put the ribbon in a baggy and drip the ink onto the ribbon.  It's alcohol ink and it dries very quickly, you can use your heat gun to speed up the process.  I am amazed that I was able to color it the same color as the cord I used to hang my charm.  That's my idea of cool.
Here's the deets:
ink - hp printer; Ranger "Antique Linen" sponged on edges
paper - Cosmo Cricket "Art Angel"
miscellaneous - copics; ribbon; cord; charm; brads; machine stitching

CIC196 - A Day for Daisies

I love the cupcake for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge CIC196.  I could look at it for hours and use it for inspiration over and over again. It looks gorgeous and it looks like it's tasty too.  Pink is my favorite color.  When it's used in apparel it's very flattering.   When it's used in cards it's soft and feminine. This week we have the perfect sponsor for a pretty, pink and feminine card, A Day for Daisies.  I love the images there and I'm sure you will too.  If you're not familiar with them take a look around the shop and take a look at what the sweeties have created using the ADFD images.  Then make your card and enter it in our challenge so that you have a chance to win the prize.
My card uses the color theme as well as being influenced by the photo.  The pink designer papers look fabulous with the kraft card stock.  A little more feminine touches are added by the pearls and the frame around the sentiment.  So that's my card, I'd love to see what you make so don't forget to link it up on the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog.
