My favorite Broadway musical is "Wicked". I can listen to the soundtrack over and over and over. Everyone else is sick of hearing it but I can keep listening. In case you have no idea this show is a back story of the Wizard of Oz. Elphaba is the future Wicked Witch. She has a younger sister, Vanessa, who is in a wheelchair. Glinda is Elphaba's roommate. One of the songs is about the kids going to the Stardust Ballroom. Vanessa says to the fellow she came with that she thinks he asked her there because he felt sorry for her. He tells her no it's because she's beautiful and then he sings the lyric "Let's Dance!" And in the show he twirls her around the dance floor in her chair. I just love that part, it's very joyful.
This image has nothing to do with "Wicked" or the "Wizard of Oz" but whenever I look at it I hear that lyric playing in my head.

CIC208 Stampotique
I hope this week's Cupcake Inspirations CIC208 photo doesn't make anyone go off their diets. This cupcake looks like one you can find in any bakery or maybe even your local supermarket. I'm just about ready to jump in my car and throw caution to the wind to get my hands on one of these. Thankfully I'm already in my pajamas and I'm too lazy to get dressed just to get some cake.
This week we're sponsored by Stampotique Originals. I've long been a fan of this company. They've got some of the most fun stamps around. Before my last move I had a few Daniel Torrente stamps but now I cannot find them. Hopefully, they'll turn up soon.
For this card I choose to use "Nerd Cat" and the sentiment "Happy Unbirthday". Since I used the colors for my inspiration this week I used pinks and browns for both the coloring of the image and for the papers. But this image could be used for a masculine card too. If you have a cat or your recipient has a cat you can color the cat accordingly and the glasses and shirt can be done in masculine colors or even paper pieced. This sentiment is just plain old fun. I love it.
You should visit the Cupcake Inspirations challenge blog to get some more inspiration and see what the other sweeties have made then get busy and make a card for our challenge. Who knows? Maybe you'll be the winner.
Here's the deets:
stamps - Stampotique "Nerd Cat" (4001) and "Happy Unbirthday" (3036)
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - My Favorite Things "Hot Fudge" card stock; Bazzill "Blossom" card stock; S.E.I. "Chocalat" assorted paper pack
miscellaneous - copics; ribbon; baker's twine; cat charm; Spellbinder's "Circle" and "Inverted Scalloped Circle" dies; bling; Stampin' Up border punch and "Modern Label" punch; Machine stitching

PWC255 - More Than One Fold
It's time to play with the Pretty Girls. This week's Paper Pretties challenge PWC255 is to make a card with more than one fold. Are you cringing? Getting ready to visit the blog on your reader?
Don't go, stick around and give it a chance.
For me this is a love/hate kind of challenge. I hate that I can't just cut a piece of card stock in half and paper it up. I hate that I have to think about and/or look up directions for a fancy fold. On the other hand I really love that I have to do this because it's actually challenging for me AND it's fun to see a different kind of card.
This is a center step card. It is surprisingly easy to make. I am astounded at how easy it is to make one of these. You can find a very easy to follow tutorial to follow on Splitcoast Stampers. I even made a change to the dimensions and had no problem doing it. You'll find directions for several fancy folds in the tutorial section. If you aren't a member just sign up, it's free.
Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Life is Good - Cooper" clear
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" for image and Versafine "Toffee" for sentiment
paper - Stampin' Up "Peach Parfait" and "So Saffron" card stock; Paper Pretties "Memory Box Beach" dsp
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up "Modern Label" punch; baker's twine; sun charm; bling; EK Success beach border punch

Top Tip Tuesday #99 - Say It Isn't Sew
Papertake Weekly - Weather With You (my favorite - beach weather)

PIO - Color Challenge
Happy Sunday, and welcome to another Pile It On challenge. This week we've got a color challenge sponsored by Dilly Beans Stamps. Such a fun place to shop for digi images. I think of them as cutesy and cutesy gothic designs. You can get a sweet little fairy like the one in the image I've used or you can get a big eyed voodoo girl. Sounds like a strange combination but it works really well. It's just like my teenage daughter, she's kind of punk, kind of goth and kind of cute, so these images are great for making cards for her and her friends. If you like cutesy but are a bit edgy it's the perfect place to shop. I'm not doing a very good job of describing the store so if you aren't familiar with them please stop over there to see what they are about.

Jellypark Friends - Make Us Laugh
It's time for a new Jellypark Friends release and this one is perfect for this fortnight's Jellypark Friends Challenge to "Make Us Laugh and Smile". Everyone likes to receive a card, it's even better when it's a homemade card and it's down right heaven when that card makes you laugh. That's the challenge for this fortnight, make us laugh and smile and you may be the winner of a digi. The rules are easy peasy and pretty much the usual - no back linking, you can use any products you have (if you have a Jellypark image we'd love to see how you use it),and you make any kind of papercraft project but no more than two entries. Like I said easy, peasy.
If the sentiment is too small for you to read here it is:
You drink too much, swear too much and have questionable morals... You're everything I ever wanted in a friend.
I think I'll be using this one pretty often!

Flowers, Lots of Flowers
This is for April's The Cat's Pajamas challenge "Flowertastic". So... I dug out some flowers. I don't know if this looks good or not but I gave it the old college try. I just don't feel the magic when it comes to flowers. I like them, in fact I think they are gorgeous and I have my fair share of a stash of flowers as well as several dies to make my own flowers but I rarely use them except when a challenge I want to participate in calls for them. Go figure... I sure can't explain it.
It's also using the sketch from the March Splitcoast Fan Club challenge.
Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas "Ewe Complete Me"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"

CIC206 - Bugaboo
These cupcakes look heavenly and a great choice for an inspiration photo for this week's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge CIC206. The sponsor for this week is Bugaboo Stamps.
Bugaboo is one of my favorite stamp stores. They've got lots of cute stamps (and I totally adore cute) but what I love about Bugaboo is that there's tons of humorous images and sentiments. I particularly like Stella, she's a snarky old babe with a wicked sense of humor. So of course I hoped I could find a Stella image that would go with the inspirations photo and I found Stella Tidbits - Heaven. Of course you could go in a different direction, maybe rain clouds or showers, or you can just use the colors. When you finish your card don't forget to link it up. The sweeties love to see what you create.
Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Stella Tidbits - Heaven" digi
ink - hp printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Kraft" and "Whip Cream" card stock; Stampin' Up "Notebook" dsp

It's time for a new Stampin' for the Weekend challenge. The theme is "Friends" and the sponsor is Saturated Canary. Did that get your attention? If you love the wild hair and big eyed characters then you should play along. I can't resist them, they're a lot of fun to color. This image is "Secrets". It reminds me of school days and having a best friend and sharing secrets with her. Now it's your turn to show us what you think of for our "Friends" challenge.

PWC253 - Buttons
It's time to get pretty. This week's Paper Pretties challenge PWC253 is buttons. Does it get any easier? If you don't have a button jar in your craft room (and who are you? even my mother had a button tin- which I inherited and still have) go rip some off the bottom of shirts you wear tucked in, nobody will notice they're gone. You really need to get some buttons in your stash. They are the perfect embellishment for masculine cards and they work on feminine cards too. They come in thousands of shapes, sizes and colors. There are some really neat shaped buttons but they usually have shanks so if you're going to use them get your hands on a pair of wire cutters otherwise those metal shanks won't come off. They'll still be fun to look at but with those shanks on you'll either have to sew them onto clothes or just enjoy hoarding them. Hoard if you like, who am I to judge?
For this card I used "Life's Treasures Sophia". This image brings back some sweet memories of days at the beach with my daughter when she was just a little girl. Those were the best of times. These days it's a miracle if I can get her to spend more than 5 minutes with me. Well it's just another stage and I expect that in the future she'll want to hang out with me more than she does now, time will tell. While this image looks great on a card it would also be great on a scrap book page. For those of you who have sons, don't feel left out there's a "Life is Good Cooper' that you can use.
Here's the deets:
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Memory Box Beach dp; Co'ordinations yellow card stock
miscellaneous - copics; buttons; baker's twine; sun charm; Twinkle Goosebumps; bling

PIO #14 - Wood
How about "Wood"? I'm not the most knowledgeable on what's hot and what's not but I've noticed that a lot of paper packs have a wood design included in them so I'm guessing that wood is a new trend. It's also the theme for this week's Pile It On challenge #14. We want to see wood on your creation. It can be in your image (the boat in my image is wooden and I paper pieced it with a scrap of paper with a wood design), your paper or an actual wood embellishment. The sponsor this week is one of my favorites - Jellypark Friends, offering the prize of 2 digital images. That's a prize worth winning.
For my card I chose "Pirate and Dog on Boat". One of the things I like about Jellypark Friends stamps is that there are a lot of masculine images that are cute. The boat's hull and the water have been paper pieced. The charm is a pirate.
Here's the deets:

CIC205 - Kenny K
Polka Dots - is there anyone who doesn't like them? Some of my favorite dresses had polka dot fabric. There's just something cheery about them. You cannot wear a polka dot outfit and feel crummy, they just lift your spirits. I bet you're smiling looking at those cupcakes and hopefully you're getting an idea for a card. Once you're ready you can join us at Cupcake Inspirations for our challenge #205. We've got Kenny K for our sponsor - you know you want to play for a chance to win a Kenny K image. Pull out your polka dot papers and get cracking, I mean crafting. Don't forget to link you card up. The sweeties can't wait to see what you create. You can see what they created by stopping off at the CIC blog.
Because of the dress I choose to use "Happy Hour" from the "Retro" collection for my card. Most times I would make the dress red with white polka dots but for this card the colors were taken from the inspiration photo. Now that I've seen it in this color choice I'm likely to use it again, maybe even try some other different color combos because there a lot of people I know who will relate to this gal. I may need to change the drink color to pink for my Cosmo drinking buddies. Now if only she were holding a Corona or red wine and of course there's diet Pepsi...
Here's the deets:
stamp - Kenny K "Happy Hour" digi

Because of the dress I choose to use "Happy Hour" from the "Retro" collection for my card. Most times I would make the dress red with white polka dots but for this card the colors were taken from the inspiration photo. Now that I've seen it in this color choice I'm likely to use it again, maybe even try some other different color combos because there a lot of people I know who will relate to this gal. I may need to change the drink color to pink for my Cosmo drinking buddies. Now if only she were holding a Corona or red wine and of course there's diet Pepsi...

Jellypark Friends - It's About a Book
This week in recognition of Library Week, Jellypark's Friends challenge is "It's About a Book". We want to see your cards have a book theme. It can be based on a book you've read or are reading or the image can feature a book; you can even make a bookmark. We can't wait to see what you make so don't forget to link it up.
Need some inspiration? Stop over at our blog, the team has been busy making gorgeous cards AND there's some new releases being features too. My card uses one of the new releases "Book Worm".
Does this look like your kid? No, I didn't think so. If your kid is like most kids he or she is more likely to be playing a video game. If you're trying to get him/her to read more here's a couple tips. Don't just think about books as reading material - magazines and comic books, yes comic books can get your kid to read. Try one of the manuals about the video game your child loves. Don't focus of "what", just get them into something, anything in print. Once they discover that reading can be fun for them they will seek out books on their own. AND you can personalize a book mark for them. How about a card like this with a library card or a gift card to a book store. Make if fun, kids will follow.

PWC252 - Flowers
From what I've been hearing Spring has been a bit of a no show for my Norther buddies. So maybe this week's Paper Pretties Challenge will bring a little spring indoors for them. This week the theme is "Flowers". You can have flowers in your image, flowers on your paper, a flower charm, flower bling, or flower embellishments. I managed to get all of those and I'm not much for flowers on my cards. So if I can do it, you can too. Any way you can get some flowers on your card will work. You don't even have to use Paper Pretties products, but if you have them we'd sure love to see how you use them. Once you've made your card don't forget to link it up on our blog so that you can be entered for a chance to win 5 digis. You're probably going to make a card sometime this week, how hard is it to incorporate flowers. Even if you're making a card for a man it can have one little flower somewhere, he won't mind.
Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "You're Fan-tastic"
