Something New
I'm so excited I can't sleep. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. Earlier tonight I opened my e-mail to find a note that told me I was accepted as a Design Team member for Shirley's 2 Girls. I'm positively giddy.
Awhile ago S2G went digi but I didn't have the ability to print so all I could do was drool over the new images, this was particularly frustrating when they "went to France", those Paris images are totally adorable. Well, now that I've got a printer I can pick up some of the images I coveted.
Since I can't sleep I decided to make a card for this week's challenge which is Brides and Babies, the twist is to use something new. Being twisted is not a problem for me, using something new is pretty easy too. I picked the twine used to tie the buttons ad charm to the ribbon. The charm is pretty new too. If you're having trouble seeing it, it's a set of blocks with the letters B A B Y on them. Try clicking on the picture, it'll be enlarged and you should have a better view.
I love the twine, it reminds me of the stuff they used at the bakery when I was a kid, nowadays they use tape, which is fast and easy for the bakery workers but it does not have much visual appeal.
So here's the deets:
Stamp - Shirley's 2 Girls "Stork Delivery"
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Faded Jeans
Paper - Stampin' Up Dusty Durango card stock; K & Co. Itsy Bitsy dp
Miscellaneous - copics, buttons, twine, charm, Pebbles orange candy dots
Here's the challenges:
Shirley's 2 Girls - Brides and Babies #62 - twist Something New
Sweet Sunday #75 - sketch
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again. Please click on the pink ribbon before you to, it's good for everyone.

The Good Old Summertime
It's the good old summertime and over the last couple weeks there's been lots of challenges with summer themes. Well, I'm happy to see them, I love the summer images and colors. You wouldn't believe how many stamps I have that have beach chairs on them. Well, if you visit here often you'll be able to see them all sooner or later.
One of my favorite designers is Joanne B, she's on the design teams for My Favorite Things and The Cat's Pajamas. Over on her blog Just a Little Something she's having an inspiration challenge which will last for another week. She's offered this photograph for our inspiration.

It's a lovely looking spot. I would love to climb into that hot tub with a refreshing drink. But for me this is just inspiration and imagination. I don't think I've ever been to any place so quite so quiet and secluded, not sure I really want to be in that quiet a place. I like a little noise around me. Whenever I get away to the country I get antsy after a couple days and start thinking about going shopping or for a ride into town or to some place touristy.
I realize my card doesn't look much like this photo but the photo inspired me to think of the beach, which made me think of this stamp which hasn't been inky probably since last summer.
I used the sketch from Crazy for Challenges. I moved the ribbon element to the bottom of the card so that you could see the punched border on the card stock. When it was in its proper spot you could only see a pail on each side, kind of a waste of cute border. I adhered some gathered ribbon to it and tied some of twine around that. Of course I had to hang a charm on it, the sun brad might be bit much but it's so cute I threw it on anyway.

After coloring the stamped image, I restamped the sunglasses, pail and flip flop. Colored them, cut them out and popped them up on dimensionals over the original image. There's lots of stickles for shimmer and some Ranger Glossy Accents for shine, and a few pearls and rhinestones cause let's face it, every card can use a little bling.
So here's all the deets:
Stamp - Outlines rubber Stamp Co 1795
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper - card stock from Urban Oasis pad; dp Me and My Big Ideas "Ellen - Starfish"

Bloom
Did you just go double check which blog you were on? I would have. This just doesn't look like a card I would make, if I wasn't with me when I made it I wouldn't believe it. It also wasn't as quick and easy as it might look. Even though it didn't take long to make the flower or stamp and cut out the leaf, it took me ages to figure it out.
This card was made for the Cookin' with Kate and My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club challenges. This week Kate's recipe is make or alter an embellishment, add some sparkle and use a die cut. MFT's challenge is to use felt and/or cork.
The flower was made using Spellbinder's nestibilities dies to cut MFT felt. It's held together with a button from a local scrapbooking store and the edges have Glitzy Glitter sprinkled on them. The sentiment on the leave was done in gold embossing powder on some scrap card stock cut out in a leaf shape. The cork was cut with the MFT rick rack die then ruffled ribbon was tied around it with yellow and white twine. I love that twine, you can find it over on the Cat's Pajamas. It comes in lots of colors. I was lucky enough to have four scrapping buddies (hi guys, I know you're stalking) who joined me in a purchase so we could get several colors, so along with lots of pearls you're likely to see lots of twine in my upcoming posts. But I digress...
The rick rack is a nice wide cut and it easily accommodates a strip of ribbon. I also like that the way you can wrap the twine around it. Of course I had to hand a charm off the twine (and yes Jenni, I did buy out the store, so you're likely to see charms, twine and pearls for a very long time, I hope you like them as much as I do). The edges of the dp have been sponged with Ranger Tea Dye and then distressed and lastly some pearls were added.
Here's the deets:
Stamps -Stampin' Up "Bloomin Beautiful" sentiment
Ink - Versamark; Ranger Tea Dye
Paper - Stampin Up Dusty Durango card stock base; October Afternoon "Thrift Shop" dp
Miscellaneous - cork; felt from MFT; ribbon from Stamp and Create; charm from acharmingplace.com; Queen and Co Green Grass Pearls; Glitzy glitter and twine from the Cat's Pajamas; button; DMC floss; Nestibilities; rick rack dienamics from MFT
Here's the challenges:
CCEE 1025 - Summer include flowers or floral ribbon or both
Stamp Something - Something vintage (the paper) with flowers
Cookin' It Up with Kate #20 Sparkle an altered die cut - recipe make or alter an embellishment; add some sparkle and use a die cut
My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club - use felt or cork
As always, thank you for visiting, I hope you'll come back again. Please click on the pink ribbon before you leave, it's a good thing.

By the Sea
Some days I'm in the mood to spend a lot of time working on an image. Maybe coloring and shading with markers or paper piecing it. Days like today I'm short on time and just want to make a card. That's one of the things I like about these stamps. You can add a dash of color and be done really quickly.
Tonight I wanted to make a quick card, but I still want it to be special, something you can't pick up in the Hallmark store. With the right embellishments mission accomplished.
I always take a gander at the current challenges (having a bunch of them on my sidebar makes that easy for me) and usually get my ideas from that.
Here's the deets:
Stamps - The Cat's Pajamas "By the Sea"
Ink - Brilliance Graphite Black
Paper - MFT Sno Cone card stock for the card base; Stampin' Up Pacific Point card stock for the rick rack; Me and My Big Ideas Ellen Starfish dp
Miscellaneous - MFT rick rack die and impressibilty; the Cat's Pajama yellow/white twine; EK Success circle punch; Tile's Play Mosaic Stickers; Taylor's Tiny Twinkles; K & Co Sea Glass charm
Here's the challenges:
The Cat's Pajamas - #115 Inspiration Photo of blue tiles
Creative Belli #94 - sketch and use something old (the tiles have been in my stash for over 3 years) - oops now that I'm linking up I see I didn't notice the challenge also has a patriotic element - well how about the starfish being inspired by the stars on our flag?

S2G DT Call with pearls
This is soooo last minute but I just have to do this. As some of you know I am retiring from my full time job next month, so I am looking for some things to fill my time. Since I love making crafting I was thinking of looking for something there. So when I saw the notice that Shirleys 2 Girls were looking for DT members I wanted to apply. It's just a really crazy time for me and I barely found time to sit down to make this card. It was made using a digital image from S2G. That's a minor miracle for me. Not being set up to print kept me from applying in the past but this weekend hubbie and I sat down and worked on the printer problem. Later Kristine from S2G helped me with my download problem and "Voila" here's the result.
About the pearls, let's just say that I made a crazed purchase and you'll probably being seeing lots of pearls on my cards. Good thing for me I like pearls.
Well, I hope that Shirley's Girls will forgive the lateness of my post. The S2G challenge this week is to make a card with a bride and the twist is to use something old. The bouquet is so old I didn't even remember that I had it and what a great surprise it is, I think it's the perfect finishing touch for this card.
So here's the deets:
stamp - Shirley's 2 Girls - digi "Bride"
ink - hah! no ink, it's digi
paper -MFT Sno Cone card stock; Autumn Leave Carlyle dp
miscellaneous - Darlene Finishing Accents bouquet; copics, Creative Memories cutting system; Queen & Co pearls; ribbon; Stampin' Up border punch
Here's the challenges:
Paper Sundaes Week #23 - Pretty as a Princess, girly girl stuff (flowers, ribbons, eyelet, pearls - oh so girly) and the sketch is the Paper Sundaes Week #22 challenge
Crazy 4 Challenges C4C42 - paper flowers
Shirley's 2 Girls - bride and the twist something old

Official Dork
It's official, I'm a dork. You probably knew this already or at least suspected as much. Why is it official today you ask, it's because I named the laundry detergent "SOME". Unless you click on the picture to blow it up you probably can't even see it but I'm dorky enough to point it out.
I hate housework in general but I actually like washing clothes. It's very tactile, I especially love clean fluffy warm towels when they come out of the dryer ad if they smell like bleach, that's the jackpot. Hey I told you I'm a dork.
Because I love laundry when I saw this stamp set I wanted to buy it but it was out of stock. I went back to the There She Goes website but it was out of stock again. When it was out of stock the third time I looked I was beginning to wonder but a couple weeks ago when I looked it was in stock so I nabbed it but I find myself wondering how many other people are out there stamping a laundry basket. More importantly are they stamping it because they like laundry?
This week the challenge at There She Goes is Worn, Torn and Distressed which seemed to be the perfect for laundry, well for my laundry. I enjoy distressing so this was a fun challenge for me. I combined it with a sketch and color challenge and Voila! the card practically makes itself.
So here's the deets:
Stamps - There She Goes "Loads of Fun"; plaid background stamp (not labeled - I got it on e-Bay)
Ink - Tuxedo Memento Black; Ranger Tea Dye; Stampin' Up Cameo Coral
Paper - Stampin' Up Not Quite Navy, Cameo Coral and Certainly Celery card stock; Martha Stewart Playful Pink Paper Pad green print dp

Wohoo! Summer Fun!
It's my favorite time of year, time for fun in the sun. So when there's challenges out there about summer fun I had to get this stamp inky because this is my idea of summer fun. I love riding around town with the roof down. Turn the music up way loud and sing along. I've got a goofy grin on my face just thinking about it. What's your idea of summer fun?

A Posey Picking Turtle
This is such a cute image. It's "Picking Posies" from Stampin' Bella and it's one of the stamps I won from Joanne Basile's blog "Just a Little Something". You never know when she's going to have a blog candy give away or challenge and in the meantime there's always something worth visiting to see.
I'm going to have to get this stamp inky again because it works up really fast and I think it could be used for a man, woman or child. What do you think?
I really liked the sketch challenge on L'il Red Wagon this week. It could be used for a quick and easy clean and simple card or it could be jazzed up . I added a few elements just because. You know that sometimes you just have to play with the stuff in your stash. Even with the additions it still worked up fast.
Here's the deets:
Stamp - StampinBella, turtle tots, "Picking Posies"
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Scattered Straw
Paper - SU cardstock; Basic Grey "Origins" dp
Miscellaneous - SU twill tape; Queen & Co. Pearls; Memory Makers Epoxy Eyelet Charms; SU Magic Mesh; nestibilities; copics; buttons; floss
Here's the challenges:

Can You Dig It?
If you're from Joisey and you have 12 square inches of property or more you've likely planted a tomato. I think everyone I know with those 12 inches has planted them for as long as I can remember. In fact at one time I had a neighbor who was getting her master's degree from Rutger's University and she was specializing in tomatoes, she gave me some great pointers and she had a great garden. There is nothing that compares to a ripe Joisey tomato but I think Pure Innocence is planting something a kid would find interesting. When my daughter was little she wanted to plant watermelon so of course we let her. Our harvest was wonderful. I think we got about 3 melons and the biggest one was about the size of a grapefruit. I guess her green thumb hadn't come in yet.
So here's the deets:
stamp - My Favorite Things Pure Innocence "Mud Buddies"

I haven't played in the Shirley's 2 Girls challenges in ages. I visit the site every week, I visit the design team blogs regularly, I go on the blog hops when there's a new release but I'm not a digi girl so I just drool over what's new. This week the challenge is to create something for a Baby with Pink as the twist. I knew I had an old stamp with a baby image so I decided to jump in and play along this week. Happy Birthday Cuddly Anya
I love the hat on this little girl. My daughter crocheted a hat that reminds me of this and she used to wear it all the time, not outside the house, she used to wear while she watched TV or whatever else she did at home. Lately she's been wearing her Elmer Fudd hats in the house, and no it's not cold here she just likes to do that. Talk about her own sense of style.
I'd probably wear that hat too. In this case the tree didn't grow too far from the acorn.
Here's the deets:

Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Tea Dye

Another Wedding Card
Here's another of the cards I've been working on
for the Shoebox Swap this weekend. It took a little time and playing around to get it this way but I'm happy with it. I've got my fingers crossed because I ordered charms for the cards and when they came in some had loops and some didn't. I contacted the company and they sent replacements right out but they're coming from Colorado and I'm not sure if they'll get here in time. The card looks nice without the charm but I really like the addition of a charm on a card.

Life's a Beach
Did you notice I haven't posted much last week? Have you been wondering what I've been up to? No! Too bad, I'm going to tell you anyway. I've been working on cards for a shoebox swap. This is my card front swap. This card seemed to take a lifetime, probably because I made 30 of them, turned out I didn't need so many, but I will use them or give them away, no problemo. Here's the deets:

My Little Geek
Here's my latest MFT stamp "Who's That Geek Guy". It was in the happy mail I got today. It made me extra happy because I could make my father's day card early and not realize at the last minute I forgot about it and then be really stressed at having to make a masculine card. Like many other paper crafters manly cards are not my strong point. Also like many of the MFT junkies this stamp is a great match for my husband. Do you think there's some kind of strange attraction between geeks and crafters? Any thing's possible and strangers things have happened.
So here's the deets:
Stamps - MFT "Who's That Geek Guy?"
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, CTMH Desert Sand
Paper - Stampin' Up Tangerine Tango and Kiwi Kiss cs; Cosmo Cricket "Boyfriend" collection dp
Miscellaneous - Nestibilities; Stampin' Up Oval and Scalloped Oval punches; cork; laptop charm
