It's time to play with the Pretty Girls. This week's Paper Pretties challenge PWC255 is to make a card with more than one fold. Are you cringing? Getting ready to visit the blog on your reader?
Don't go, stick around and give it a chance.
For me this is a love/hate kind of challenge. I hate that I can't just cut a piece of card stock in half and paper it up. I hate that I have to think about and/or look up directions for a fancy fold. On the other hand I really love that I have to do this because it's actually challenging for me AND it's fun to see a different kind of card.
This is a center step card. It is surprisingly easy to make. I am astounded at how easy it is to make one of these. You can find a very easy to follow tutorial to follow on Splitcoast Stampers. I even made a change to the dimensions and had no problem doing it. You'll find directions for several fancy folds in the tutorial section. If you aren't a member just sign up, it's free.
Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Life is Good - Cooper" clear
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" for image and Versafine "Toffee" for sentiment
paper - Stampin' Up "Peach Parfait" and "So Saffron" card stock; Paper Pretties "Memory Box Beach" dsp
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up "Modern Label" punch; baker's twine; sun charm; bling; EK Success beach border punch

Papertake Weekly - Weather With You (my favorite - beach weather)

Shaken, Not Stirred
Every time I see this image I think of Sean Connery, back in his days as Bond, James Bond. This doggie is just as suave and debonair as Mr. Connery. In fact, I think he can stand up to any of the Bond boys. Daniel Craig watch out, you've got some stiff competition.
The Cat's Pajamas has changed up their challenge. It's now a monthly competition so that we have more time to enter. This month the challenge is to use an existing stamp in a new and creative way. This stamp is a holiday stamp, at the base of the martini glass there's holly and berries. I used the TCP "Button" die to cover that up, so that I could make a Valentine's or Love card.
Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas "Make Merry"; sentiment by Outlines
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" and VersaMagic "Aegean Blue"
paper - Bazzill "Blossom" card stock; My Favorite Things "Sno-Cone" cs; My Mind's Eye "Lucky in Love" dsp
miscellaneous - copics; bling; TCP Divine Twine; TCP "Heart Border" and "Buttons" Cut Ups; charm; hemp twine
Pals Paper Arts PPA152 - Primrose Petals, Pool Party and Real Red collection closed

Bunny Hansel
Hey kiddies, are you ready for another calorie free recipe from Katie? Of course you are. So here's this week's challenge #55 from Cooking It Up With Katie: "Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine". I like sparkly and shiny stuff so this is right up my alley. Too bad my photographic abilities are not that great because there's lots of stickles on this little guy (I assume he's a guy because the name is Hansel)
This week the challenge is sponsored by Pizzaz Aplenty. You can find all the challenge details, more fun cards created by the rest of the design team and the ever important Mr. Linky thingie by clicking here.
If you're a regular visitor to my blog or a stamping buddy you may be wondering what the heck is that image doing here. If you're not one of the aforementioned you probably don't know that I am put off by stamps that have people without noses and mouths. How the heck do they breathe. If I look at them long enough I feel a little suffocated (seriously). What's really odd is that I am not bothered by images of people without heads. I just figure if the head were visible they'd have a nose and a mouth. I never said that the way I think makes sense.
Here's the deets:
stamp - CC Designs "Bunny Hansel"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger "Tattered Rose"
paper - MFT "Sweet Tooth" cs for base; Stampin' Up "Old Olive" cs; Georgia Pacific white cs; October Afternoon "Ducks In a Row" dp
miscellaneous - copics; Nesties Labels 4; ribbon; twine; charm; mini yellow brads; flower brads; Stampin' Up rhinestone brads; stickles; gelly roll
Here's the challenges:
Cooking It Up with Katie #55 - Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine
Kaboodle Doodle #60 - Spring Has Spring
Really, Reasonable Ribbon #20 - One for the Boys (Hansel is a boy, that's why I mage him a blue bunny instead of a pink bunny)
One Stop Craft week 124 - Fairies and Angels (he has wings)
CES #29 - Die Cut Crazy
Fairy Fun Fridays #49 - Oh So Spring
Stamp Something - Spring Somethings
Pile It On - PIO#13 - Cutie Patootie
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again. Now go get inky and make something for the Cooking It Up With Katie Challenge.

A Fancy Fold
Yikes a fancy fold! This week the recipe challenge at Cooking It Up With Katie is to use a fancy fold, autumn and embossing. I don't usually bother to do anything more than a simple fold so this was a real challenge for me. A long time ago I made a card with a swinging piece and I loved the way that looked so I went back through my blog to find it because I knew I put a link to the directions in the post. Yeah me! I won't make you go back to look for it, I'll just give you this link to the directions. Turns out that making a "flip flop" card is pretty easy and the real challenge for me was the embossing. I adjusted the size of the card a little so that the image would fit in the piece that flips but otherwise I followed the directions in the Splitcoast tutorial (that's where the link will take you). The two small pictures show you what the card looks like when it's laid flat. This type of card makes a great invitation, where I've put the sentiment you would put the party details.
If you've been following me you know that I recently moved and that I don't have a crafting space in my new house. I'm hoping to get something together somehow in the future but for now my supplies are all over and I'm working on my kitchen table. So it's time to emboss and I can't find any embossing folders. Dang nabbit, so I figured I'd just find a stamp and emboss it, I do love the way gold embossing looks, and it would be nice to emboss some leaves for autumn. Hmm, first finding my leave stamps, not working out for me, so I looked for a background stamp. Found the Hero Arts "Manuscript Background" and couldn't find my gold powder. ACK! I found lilac, turquoise, clear, red and silver, none of which I cared to use. Then I found yellow! Wohoo! I sat down and got ready to play and realized I didn't know where my heat gun was. This meant a trip to the sauna, otherwise known as my garage to look for unopened boxes of craft supplies. Twenty minutes later I emerged dripping wet with heat gun in hand and stamped the background with Versamark applied the powder and heated it up. Well, it doesn't show in the pic, and it's not as evident as the gold would have been but it is embossed. In the end I pulled the card together, it may not be my best effort but I bet someone who doesn't read my blog, will think this card is absolutely adorable.
Don't forget to visit Katie's blog to see what the rest of the Design Team did, you'll get some ideas for different folds, and maybe you'll enter the challenge and win a prize.
Here's the deets:
Stamp - C.C. Designs Baby Tricks or Treats Pumpkin; Sentiment, A Muse "Got Candy"; Hero Arts "Manuscript Background"
Ink - Versamark for the embossing, orange SU marker for the sentiment, Memento Tuxedo Black for the image
