CIC180 - Autumn Leaves with Doodle Pantry

Just look at those luscious cupcakes, I mean colors, it must be autumn.  This is about as close to autumn leaves as I'm going to get.  Palm trees just don't do autumn.  Oh well, I'm happy to have this photo for Cupcake Inspirations challenge #180.  I'm also happy to say that our sponsor this week is Doodle Pantry Digi Doodles as our sponsor where the image I'm using is from.  They have great digital critter images, and more.  AND if you're not that keen on coloring you can find lots of pre-colored images.  Can't beat that when you're in a hurry.

My card was inspired by the colors and the image.  I love the fall colors so working on this card was a blissful time for me.  Isn't that image perfect for fall.  It would be good for invitations to Thanksgiving dinner and if you have to make a lot of invitations this is one of the images that you can get already colored.

What are you inspired to make?  Me and the rest of the sweeties can't wait to see your creations.  So break out your supplies and whip something up.  Don't forget to link it up on the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog.

This week at Pile It On the challenge theme is "For a Child" with Soft Pencil Studios for the sponsor.

My card is using "Lily" from Soft Pencil.  It's perfect for a card for a little girl.  Normally I'd color her dress in pink or lavender, maybe even baby blue but since this autumn there are lots of challenges calling for autumn colors.  Turns out she looks cute in a little orange dress.

Thank You - World Gratitude Day

Fall is the time of year when we think about "Thanks".   Here in the states we've been celebrating Thanksgiving forever or so it seems but that holiday often gets boggled down with the food and the thanks part gets somewhat forgotten.  There's another thank you day to celebrate.  It's World Gratitude Day and no it wasn't created by Hallmark or some other card company to generate more business.  It was started in 1965 by the United Nations Meditation Group.  It's purpose is to express thanks for the great things individuals and groups do. WGD is September 21 but no one will mind if you send a belated thank you.

How pathetic is this - I had the image colored, the papers picked and a sketch to follow and I still couldn't get the card done.  This is for last week's My Favorite Things sketch challenge.  Maybe this week it'll be a little easier.  I hate when the wanes.  I know, you do too.

Fall Fairy

The temperature here today was in the 90's so the only way I'm going to be experiencing those cool "need a sweater" days is in my imagination.  So with the memories of pumpkin pickin' days in mind I colored up this cute little fairy fellow.

CIC179 - Bottoms Up

Another clever decorating idea for your cupcakes.  This is the kind of decorating that even I can do.  The problem is that I'd have to start buying Starbuck's coffee and collect those sleeves.  I have a love/hate relationship with Starbucks.  It's mostly about the names of things, especially the sizes.  I'm too old for this stuff, what's wrong with small, meduim and large?   Dunkin donuts is so much easier for me.  But I do love those frapper dapper thingies.  But I digress...  These adorable cuppies are for your inspiration this week at the Cupcake Inspriations Challenge.  And what better sponsor than Fresh Brewed Designs.  There's lots of coffee inspired images but that's not all there is, you need to go check them out.  It'll be fun.

For my card I chose to use an image of a " to go" type cup.  I love that little sleeve with the buttons.  It's too dang cute.  I haven't seen them for sale anywhere but I bet some clever crafter is making them and selling them, they'd be a great craft show item.  I could make them but I'm too lazy, I rather just admire someone else's handy work and again I digress... I kept the color palette of the inspiration photo.  It's perfect for a masculine card.  Since the image is gender neutral, make those buttons pink and you've got a girly card.

Pour yourself a cup of joe and get started on a card, you'll have fun and maybe win a prize.  So don't forget to link up to the challenge.  Why not stop over there and see what the rest of the sweeties have made.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Fresh Brewed Designs "Warm and Cozy Latte"
ink - hp printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Hot Fudge" card stock; Stampin' Up "Garden Green" card stock;  Echo Park "This and That" sp
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up "Glorious Green" marker for doodling; buttons

Tea Time

I'm a sucker for teapots and tea cups.  When I was a child my aunt lived with us for awhile and she had a lovely little collection of porcelain teacups.  They were in the don't you dare play in this room and don't even think about touching these things decoration in the off limits rooms.  I really hated not being allowed in that room.  As an adult who's had a few kids around the house I now understand why we weren't allowed in that room but I still don't like the idea and never had an off limits room.  Of course on the day I found the red lipstick drawing on the back of my off white sofa ....

Here's the deets:

SFTW #18 - Feeling Floral

It's time for the weekend.  Yeah!  So if you aren't up to your head in children's activities maybe you can find some time to stamp.  In which case if you add some flowers to your card you'll have an entry for this week's Stampin' for the Weekend challenge.

I'm not very good with flowers so I found a little pink flower charm and added that to my card but decided it wasn't enough so I added a few prima roses to a corner.  I'm not sure if they look good or not.  One of these days I'm going to "get it" and know just how to use the flowers but that'll probably coincide with flowers going out of style.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo - "Cupcake Word Block" digi; Lockhart  "Happy Cupcake Day"

paper - Stampin' Up "Taken with Teal", Yo Yo Yellow" and "Melon Mambo" card stock; cosmo Cricket "De Lovely" dp

Back to School

The end of summer was always bittersweet for me.  Summer was so much fun I hated to see it go but getting back to school was great.  Mom would take me shopping for new shoes, and school supplies, I had to wear uniforms so clothes weren't usually part of the spree.  Then the big day came and I'd get to see all the kids who didn't live in the neighborhood and catch up on what they'd been doing for the last couple months.  It was so exciting.  Believe it or not I actually liked the school part too.  Every now and then I think about signing up for a class.  Once a nerd, always a nerd.

Halloween's on the Way

This is my favorite time of year.  Halloween is my favorite holiday.   It's my favorite  because it's all about fun, dressing up in costumes, begging for candy, scary decorations.  What can be more fun than that?  I also love the colors associated with fall, they are so rich, and warm.  When I lived in NJ the foliage changed colors.   It is awesome driving through the Delaware Water Gap this time of year.   While I miss leaf peeping I love seeing palm trees, there are so many different types, one prettier than the next so it's a trade off I'm willing to accept, plus there are some spots around here where it reminds me of a northern fall so as they down here "it's all good".

CIC178 - Get Sassy

I am loving the cuppie's for this week's Cupcake Inspiration challenge.  What a brilliant idea for dressing up your cupcakes without having to know how to do any special frosting strokes.  Just use pretty papers, stick some paper umbrellas and cherries on top and then plunk them into a fancy glass.  That's pure genius.  I guess I'm not just easily amused, I'm also easily impressed.

This week the challenge is sponsored by Sassy Design Studios.   I love those sexy big eyed girls, you will too.  If you stop by the challenge blog   you'll see what the sweeties created with just a few of the images.  If you stop by the Sassy you'll find a sassy gal for any occasion.

For my card I chose to use Sassy cocktail.  It's that little umbrella, I had to have the umbrella.  I'm a sucker for those little cocktail umbrellas.  I haven't seen them around lately, but then I haven't been ordering Pina Colada's lately.  Maybe it's time for a change.  but I digress...

For the challenge you can use any brand stamp and papers you just have to be inspired by our cupcake photo.

Here's the deets:
Stamp - Sassy Design Studio "Cocktail Sassy"
ink - hp printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Sno-cone" card stock; Basic Grey "Phoebe" dp

Pile It On #38 - Stitching - Real or Faux

Stitching is a one of my favorite techniques.  It can be real or faux, I like to use both, it dresses up the paper edges nicely.  So whether you have a sewing machine and the skills to go with if or not you can still play in this week's Pile It On "Stitching" challenge.  If you don't have a machine you can take a skinny liner marker and make a few strokes on your card.  There's a third possibility, you can sew by hand on your card.  A few embroidered stitches will look really special on your card.  It's your choice and over at Pile It on we're anxious to see what you create.  The challenge is sponsored by Floppy Latte.Digital Designs.  You'll find lots of fun stuff there.

Here's the deets:

Super Memories

Who doesn't have memories of dressing up as a super hero?  When I was a kid my family and my cousins family went on vacation at the Jersey shore.  It was a different time, a time when parents let kids go out by themselves.  We used to go to the boardwalk and drape our towels over our shoulders and pretend to be Superman and we'd dive off the boardwalk into the sand dunes.  It may sound dull or dorky but we were having the time of our lives.

In the not so long ago past my little darling used to dress herself up in some wacky outfits.  There was almost always a pair of panties on the outer most layer and often a long sleeved tee shirt with the sleeves tied criss cross over her chest.  I have no idea how she did it but she did and she would run around the house yelling "Super Liddy".  I remembered scrapping it so I dug out the books and found the page.  Too bad I didn't have this image when I made the page.

This image made me realize how much I've neglected scrap booking, I haven't made a page in over two years.  I think it's time to start catching up.

Talk Nerdy to Me

There's a large orange furbaby laying half on my keyboard as I type and he seems to be getting annoyed when I have to move his tail to reach a key.  Most people would shoo him away but I prefer to wait and see how long he can put up with me instead of vice-versa.

CIC177 Relax - Frankie Says So

When I see a bubble bath the first thing I think is "Relax" and then I think of Frankie goes to Hollywood singing "Relax (Don't Do It)".  Some of you may need to ask your parents or your grandparents who Frankie is or you can watch this  You Tube video.   If you go off and make a 1980's big hair kind of card for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge, well, at least I'll understand why.

This week we're sponsored by one of our regular sponsors Prairie Fairy Designs.   I love the Gilly stamps and this one is just perfect for this challenge.  If you think she's a cutie you need to go visit the shop.  You can find a Gilly for just about every occasion or hobby, and if it isn't there now it'll be there sooner or later.  If you need little boy images there's Lewis and Dillan, Gilly's male counterparts.  The kids aren't the only stamps, there's plenty of others, something fore everybody.  Play along with us this week for a chance to win a gift certificate.

Do you need a little help getting started with your Christmas and holiday cards?   Then this week's challenge at Stampin' for the Weekend is just what you need, the theme is "Early Christmas".  Making this even more enticing the sponsor this week is Simon Says with a $25 gift certificate.

For my card I decided to go with non-traditional colors.  The ornament was done with a glittery embossing powder.  Here's a little tip, if you're going to use embossing powder turn off your ceiling fan, don't ask me how I know.  The paper on the bottom is stamped with three snowflake stamps in silver and light blue inks.  The striped layer is covered with washi tape.  Lots of bling just because...

CIC176 - My Knight

It's time to gawk at cupcakes.  This week at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge we have some yummy pastel icing with symbols of royalty decorations.  Are you thinking "Camelot"?  Maybe the swirls are putting ideas in your head, or is it the crown?  Didn't you always want to wear a crown?   Once you get your idea go make a card so you have a chance to win the prize.  This week we are sponsored by Jellypark.  That's a prize you want to win, so get busy.  No wait, finish reading my post, check out the Cupcake Inspirations page to see what the rest of the sweeties created, leave a little love and then go make your card.

My inspiration is the sword which gave me a reason to make another boy's card.  My stash is light on cards for the not so fair sex.  I mostly wait for challenges calling for masculine cards to make them so that's one of the things I've been trying to do more this year.  It's not an official resolution, just a sort of one.

Here's the deets:

ink - hp printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Hot Fudge"; Simple Stories "Awesome" dp
miscellaneous - copics; ribbon; brads; knight charm; My Favorite Things "Mini Quartet" dienamincs; sewing machine
