Warm Fuzzies

can you see the heart charm?  click on the pic to enlarge

Warm Fuzzies is the name of this stamp, but for me it's what I felt when I saw it.  It reminds me of when my daughter was a little girl, she loved to wear footie pj's.  Come to think of it those pj are often fuzzy, and they are definitely warm.
This card was made for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge.

Here's the deets:
stamp - My Favorite Things "Warm Fuzzies"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black for image and sentiment; Ranger Tattered Rose and Shabby Shutters sponged around egg edge

I'm a Guest Bartender

Woohoo!  What'll you have?  A fancy drink with a little umbrella, a shot and a chaser or maybe just a draft.  Oh, don't get me started on beer, there's only about a gazillion of them.  Bar tending was possibly the most fun job I ever had.   I suppose if you consider being on design teams work then this is the most fun job in the world.

Raise the Bar picked my Painting Eggs post as one of their top 3 cards which means I could be a guest bartender.  Sounded like fun to me and it is.  The challenge is "April Showers" make a card depicting any kind of weather.  Obviously I didn't go with the showers.  It's those beautiful sunny days I decided to celebrate and isn't this Pure Innocence stamp just the perfect image for this celebration.  What weather will you celebrate?  Whatever you choose you can find all the challenge details and the linky tool by clicking here.

Darling Daisies

Oops, what happened, there's no charm.  Click on the photo to enlarge.
EEK! That's the sound I made when I saw the challenge photo for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. You should have seen my cat jump.
Those daisy cupcakes are just gorgeous.  Week after week I marvel at the beautiful pastries Rachel finds for our inspiration.
Years ago I took all three of the Wilton cake decorating classes so I have an idea of what went into making them.  It was a lot of fun taking the classes, making the cakes, and eating the cakes.  Even though it's fun, it's work and not easy.  So I will spend most of my days decorating cards and leave the cakes to the rest of you.

Aren't these yummy looking.

don't forget the inside

The sponsor for this week's challenge is Heather Ellis, the creator of Pure Innocence.  She's giving a prize of three images.  Did you just make the "eek" sound?    What a great prize!  And all you have to do is be inspired by those gorgeous cupcakes.  So take a look at them and get cracking.  Wipe the drool off your face before you start your card or project, it makes a mess, yeah, you can cover it with an embellie but if you can catch it beforehand...

I look terrible in yellow so I tend to shy away from it. However, when I see yellow cards I always think they look very cheerful so I took this challenge to heart and went out shopping for yellow papers and embellies. After all, it's me not my cards that look lousy in yellow. I got a little carried away and came home with lots of fun stuff.   I even used some of it on this card.

Here's the deets:
stamp - digi image by Heather Ellis
paper - Georgia Pacific white cs for image and mats; Hot Off the Press yellow gingham dp; October Afternoon "Ducks In A Row" dp; Rubber Soul
"Garden Variety" dp; Colorbok yellow cs for base
miscellaneous - copics; Nellie's Multi frames; ribbon; Favorite Findings daisy button; yellow rick rack; daisy ribbon; green grads; green and yellow mini brads; stickles; sewing machine; MFT "Sweet Stack" die-namics; nesties ovals

Here's the challenges:

Paper Cutz #83 - Any color, any theme

Get Your Sunglasses

Can you see the birthday cake charm?  Click on the photo to enlarge.

'Cause this is one bright card.  If you have Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely pad or the Wausau Classic card stock you know how bright this stuff looks in person, It loses a little bit of its edge when you photograph it.
It's time for the MFT Guest Designer challenge so I had to make a card.  I do this every month.  I figure I'm making cards anyway, why not give it a try.

Coffee and Cream

did you notice the little pail charm?
That's the color challenge put out there by Simon Says. Well, I drink my coffee very light. I even put milk in my latte. So for me that's beige, light beige and tan. I needed to add a little yellow for sunshine and blue for the water on the beach but otherwise this card is beige. You wouldn't believe how many "E" copics I used on this image. This is the first time this stamp set has seen ink. It's about time! Pure Innocence is such a cutey pie and it's always fun to play with her so making this card was as much fun as going to a party.

If Dante Only Knew

can you see the lace under the ribbon?
If Dante had ever used these Martha Stewart micro beads he would have invented a whole 'nother circle in hell.
I defy you to use these suckers and not feel the same way.  They make glitter look like a neat freak's dream tool.  You think I'm exaggerating.  No, not at all.  I put this piece inside a box before pouring on the beads and after cleaning up hours ago I'm still finding these suckers.  THEY BOUNCE!  And why don't I just throw them away, after all I have plenty of other toys.  Well I blame the nuns, that's right the nuns.  My first grade teacher told us we would burn in purgatory until we used up all the paper we wasted.  Yes, she really said that.  I assume she would tell me I'd burn if I didn't use up the beads too.  So if you're ever looking at my work desk and wondering why the heck I have saved all those little scraps of paper, well there's your answer.  I'm trying to toss the scraps but I'm going to need a whole lot more therapy to get rid of this stuff.  AND I have three bottles of it!

a close-up of the blasted beads
Now onto the card.  This card is pretty dang cute in person but it just doesn't photograph well.  I tried several angles and it didn't matter, none of them show off the card well.  So how about a close-up of the beads to give you a better idea of what the card looks like.  Also the image panel is popped up on triple dimensionals and you just can't see that in the photographs.
I made this card for the Paper Sundaes challenge from last week to pick your favorite challenge from the past.  They decided to let it run a couple extra days so I decided to stop being lazy and go look for my favorite challenge, that's when it hit me, I won their first challenge (picked by random org.) so I decided to use the first challenge from January 17, 2010, which was a sketch. This is my new card and here's a link to the old one.  It's a good sketch.

A Card for Katie

While I was going through the challenges for today I read about Katie on the Color Throwdown.  I like the Color Throwdown for lots of reasons, including that they have a fantastic design team so that every week there's lots of eye candy to see.  But today I like them even more because they're doing something extra which is really sweet.  They've asked us to make our cards for Katie.  Katie's a fellow stamper on Splitcoast and she's ailing.  You can read about the challenge and Katie here.
My card colors deviate a little from the challenge colors, usually some deviation is accepted so I'm hoping they won't mind my changes.  Instead of the Early Espresso and Melon Mambo , I'm substituting Kraft and some pink for the Melon.

The layout if from this week's Mojo Madness. I flipped it around a little to to acommodate the stamp.

This heart charm is so sweet but it's tiny so I'm giving you a close up view.

Over on the MFTWSC thread on SCS we've been talking about sewing so I decided I would get my machine out.  Some people have trouble with sewing circles.  My advice is to use a zig zag stitch because it allows you more room for fudging.  Take your time, it's not a race.  AND if you're getting frustrated, STOP.  If you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong.

And let's not forget the inside.  Because it's so pretty, I repeated using the Martha Stewart Hydrangea border punch.

Here's the deets:
stamp - My Favorite Things Pure Innocence Fairy
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Pumice Stone
paper - SU Kraft cs for base and mats; SU Soft Sky and Kiwi Kiss dp
miscellaneous - heart charm; Divine Twine; SU Crochet Trim; bling; Hero Arts Sparkle Gems Hearts and Flowers; Martha Stewart Hudrangea border punch; Cotton Candy Pink Sparkly fluff (on the heart on the dress); Polar White flower soft (on wings); round corner punch; white opaque pen (on ribbon on dress); Spellbinder's Label Eight; Sulky variegated green thread in sewing machine

Here's the challenges:
Mojo Monday #173 - sketch
The Color Throwdown #124 - Melon Mambo, Early Espresso and Soft Sky, with a twist, make a card for Katie
Pile It On #2 - It's All About the Cute Children
Bah, Humbug! #1 - Holly and Fairies

Thanks for visiting, I hope you'll come back again.  Thanks for commenting.  Please click on the pink ribbon on the sidebar before you leave, it's a good thing.

Pure Innocence Sneaky Peeks

Let's hear it for the boys! I tend to ignore the boys in my card making. That's kind of sad because I have a husband, a grandson, two step sons, a brother, an uncle, men friends. You get the picture don't ya? Unless you're an orphaned cloistered nun (in which case what the heck brings you here?) you probably have a world populated by similar men folk. But I bet if you go through your stash it is sadly low on cards you can give to a guy. So I am always thrilled to see a fun image for a guy card. I think that should be my New Year's resolution, make more guy cards, forget about the diet, at least with card making I've got a fighting chance of success. But I digress...

It's day three of the sneak peeks and this brings us to one of My Favorite Things in the whole stamping world - Pure Innocence. I love Pure Innocence stamps. (yeah, I know, I love just about everything - and I've discovered if I don't love it now I will probably love it eventually). But Pure Innocence is a heart string tugger. She and he have got me every time. There isn't a release that goes by that I don't sit waiting to see what PI looks like and they are always the first thing into my cart.

Today I'm debuting "Splish Splash" and "Hello Cupcake" but you have got to see "Sending a Box of Chocolates and "Love You With All My Heart". If you click here for Kim blog after 11 AM she'll have links to all the designers that are showcasing PI, that way you can see them all, and they'll be done to the nines. I've been checking and I have been left agog by what the design team has done.

Every month MFT posts a challenge on the Saturday before the new release (that's the first Saturday of the month). A lucky crafter wins the next release and gets to be the guest design team member for the next month. That's a whopper of a prize. This month the challenge is to Stitch it Up". You can find all the details here. As a member of the guest design team I not eligible to win but I can still play so I got my trusty old embroidery floss out and did a little stitching on this card. You may want to click on the card to see a larger image of it. I made French knots around the edges of the image and the sentiment. I also sewed the buttons onto felt. Easy Peasy. You don't have to have a sewing machine or even floss. You can faux stitch on your creation. So get you fingers moving and play along. You have till Tuesday at 10PM to link up your creation. Just think of how excited you'll be if you win. I can guarantee that if you are a Guest DT for MFT you will be excited.

How about a project for my next peek. It's a gift in a jar with a matching recipe card. The recipe is for a dozen Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes. Perfect stamp for this recipe. PI is stamped on a MFT Perfect Panel, paper pieced and colored, punched out with a nestie, adhered to a mat punched with a larger nestie. Punch a slot, add a ribbon and a flower and you've got a great adornment for the jar. Mask off PI's arm and stamp the cupcake on a MFT Perfect Panel, cut it out and pop it up and it'll look adorable on the recipe card. By the way, PI doesn't come wearing socks but I like to add them, all you need to do is use a permanent ink pen like a fine point Sharpie and draw 2 slightly curved lines around her ankles with a few straight lines going in the opposite direction. If you're going to color over the sock lines try it on a scrap of the same card stock first. I'd hate to see you ruin your image doing something that should be simple, easy and fun. Here's another tip, if you cut out a square of material to cover the jar lid, put an elastic band around it before you try to tie the ribbon around it.

Don't forget the release party will be on the Splitcoast forum on Wednesday December 1 at 8 PM. Following the party the goodies will be on sale. (Take deep breaths, it's only a couple more days - I know, I know, there's a few things on my list already and Wednesday seems like a long time away). Everything will be available here on the MFT site.

Here's the deets for the card:

Stamp - My Favorite Things Pure Innocence "Splish Splash"

Flurry of Love

This week the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge is to be inspired by the lyrics of "My Favorite Things" from the Sound of Music.  Is there anybody who hasn't seen the movie with Julie Andrews and if you saw it could you possibly not love that song.  I doubt it!
I was likely enough to see this as a Broadway musical in NYC, it was the first show I ever saw.  I was about 8 years old and my father took the entire family and I remember that I didn't want to go.  I didn't want to get all dressed up (everyone dressed up to go to the theatre in those days) and have to be on my best behavior.  It seemed like it would be worse than going to school.  So all five of us piled into the theatre and us three kids did our damnedest not to fidget while we waited for it to start.  But when that orchestra started the overture I was mesmerized and remained enthralled for the entire show.  There is nothing that can compare to sound of a live orchestra.  Needless to say I was hooked.  If I could go to a musical every night of the week I would.  But I digress...
This card was made with the lyric "snowflakes that stick on my nose and eyelashes" in mind however I hope that I have seen the last of snowflakes that stuck to anything of mine.
The stamping and card construction is pretty much what you see is what I did.  What you might not pick up on is that the image is stamped on a cream (MFT) perfect panel with Memento "Rich Cocoa".

Here's the deets:

stamp - My Favorite Things - Pure Innocence "Flurry of Love"

Let's Go!

and if I'm saying "Let's Go!" it's usually followed by "Already!"  I'm so impatient when it's time to take off.  I just gotta hit the road, and I hate waiting around for people.  It's a bit rude but I am what I am and it's awfully late in the game for me to start changing but I'm giving it a try.  I'm going to try to adopt the leisurely pace that is prevalent here in the South.  Stay posted to hear how I'm doing.
I made this card using the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge.  Another one of my plans is to do all of the sketches that Frances and Cyndy have created.  It's not like I have anything more important to do.  hmmmm.

Here's the deets:

Happy Birthday Kim!!!

Happy Birthday Kim!  That's Kim from My Favorite Things
If you want a better view of any of the photos, clicking on them to enlarge them.

When Julie from her design team invited me to participate in this birthday blog hop I said yes immediately without even stopping to think about.

There are 42 avid paper crafters sending birthday wishes, one for each of her years.

You can hop over to Kim's blog where Jody has posted the list to start at the beginning or you can hop around as you see fit.  I've also included the list at the end of this post.

I wanted to make something special for Kim.  Something more than a card.

I decided upon a mini word scrapbook.  You can pick up these chipboard books up at most craft stores and scrapbook stores.

There are several words available, like "family", "party" and "baby".  I've also seen people make and sell custom books at craft shows and scrap booking weekends.  You could have your child's name made up, or any word that has meaning for you.

For this book I wanted to showcase MFT products.  I love the colors and patterns of the MFT Spring Collection which I used for my palette.  It's cute and girly and so much fun.

I stamped a few Pure Innocence girls and used them to decorate some of the pages and I just went through my stash looking for whatever would properly dress up a page.

When I make these books for my family and friends I usually include mats with little post it notes that say "mount your photo here" and sometimes I even include the photos.  Since Kim is a stamper and scrapper, and certainly will have paper that matches I haven't included any.

Here's the list:
