CIC232 Bugaboo

BOO!

It's time for Cupcake Inspirations CIC232 Challenge.  It's also time for all the ghosties and goblins to be making an appearance so if you've got some some fun Halloween stamps and embellishments now would be the time to break them out.  If you don't celebrate Halloween you can still play along by using the colors white, chartreuse and black for your challenge inspiration.  We want everyone to be included.

This week our sponsor is the great, and fun Bugaboo Stamps.  I love Bugaboo Stamps, I shop there frequently.  I happen to love a couple of the characters and can't get enough of them.  Stella is my favorite.  She is just so snarky.  She's the kind of woman that if she worked in your office she'd have you spewing out coffee on your keyboard on a regular basis.  I love lots of other images there, I love the Rudy the Christmas reindeer, Gus and JJ, then there's the cupcakes.  I could go on and on but I think you get the point.

Here's the deets:

SFTW - Buttons

It's the weekend, time for to get some crafting done.  So at Stampin' for the Weekend we've got a new challenge for you.  This fortnight we want to see "Buttons" on your work.  That's it - easy, peasy right?  There's a good reason for you to play.  We've got Bugaboo as our sponsor.  Who doesn't want to have a few Bugaboo images in their stash?  There are lots of cute images but I like the funny ones.  Yesterday I was walking through Target, passing the card aisles and I heard the best sound in the world.  Three women laughing hysterically.   I imagine that when someone gets a card made with one of the Stella images from Bugaboo they are laughing when they read it.  That's the best present you can give someone.  So get inky and make a card with buttons on it, and some stamping, and link it up to our challenge so you will have a chance to win some Bugaboo images

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Frame It - Stella and Gus - Person to Annoy". digi
ink - printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Natural" card stock base; Bazzill "Hillary" card stock; October Afternoon "Sasparilla" patterned paper

PIO #18 For or From a Mom

On this side of the pond we're nearing Mother's Day so this week at Pile It On we want to see cards "For or From a Mom".  Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Digi Stamps.   If you're a frequent visitor to my blog you know that I love Bugaboo.  I'm particularly partial to the Stella line.  However there are many, many others that I like.  If you're not familiar with Bugaboo (is that even possible?) take a little stroll through the shop.  I'm sure you will find lots of stamps you have to have.  I know that's what happens to me every time I visit.

If you're living in a place like England where they've already celebrated Mother's Day then make a card for your mom just because you can.  As a mom I can assure that if I got a card from my child on any day of the year I'd be thrilled.  If like me, you don't have a mom, or a mother-in make a card for a friend to tell her what a great mom she is.  Make a card for yourself if you must, just make a card so you can have a chance to win the Bugaboo prize.  Don't forget to link it up on the Pile It On challenge blog and enter it into at least one more challenge to be eligible.  We look forward to seeing your creations.

Here's the deets:

CIC206 - Bugaboo

These cupcakes look heavenly and a great choice for an inspiration photo for this week's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge CIC206.  The sponsor for this week is Bugaboo Stamps

Bugaboo is one of my favorite stamp stores.  They've got lots of cute stamps (and I totally adore cute) but what I love about Bugaboo is that there's tons of humorous images and sentiments.   I particularly like Stella, she's a snarky old babe with a wicked sense of humor.  So of course I hoped I could find a Stella image that would go with the inspirations photo and I found Stella Tidbits - Heaven.  Of course you could go in a different direction, maybe rain clouds or showers, or you can just use the colors.  When you finish your card don't forget to link it up.  The sweeties love to see what you create.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Stella Tidbits - Heaven" digi

PIO #2 - Funny Card

Pile It On's  challenge #2 of the year could easily be my favorite.  It's to make a humorous birthday card.  Who among you doesn't love to torment anyone older than yourself with an insultingly funny card?  Sadly, for some of us, no names mentioned, the list of people we can send this kind of card to is growing shorter.   I've remedied that by sending them to people younger than me too, hey, they're getting up there now too and it's about time I let them know it.  And yes I know that it leaves the inevitable "you'll always be older than me" remark to be made but it's going to be made sooner or later in the conversation anyway so I might as well get my dig in there too.  Have you noticed that the people who are only a little bit younger than you are the ones who really like to dig it in, or am I the only one who has that kind of friend?

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Make It Snappy Stella - Stella Birthday Old Fart"
ink - hp printer
paper - My Favorite Things "Kraft" card stock; October Afternoon "Sarsaparilla"' Stampin' up "Brilliant Blue"
miscellaneous - copics; mini brads; buttons; burlap twine

CIC183 - Bugaboo Witch

CIC183 Cupcakes by Sugarbloom Bev
There are so many fun decorations for Halloween, even decorated cupcakes.  Although in my home cupcakes don't last long enough to be decorations.  Fortunately the photo lasts as long as I need it to make my sample for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge.  This week we're sponsored by one of my favorite companies - Bugaboo Digi Images.  There's always something fun to pick up in that store so be sure to play along for a chance to win a little spree.

Stella is my favorite character from Bugaboo so I choose to use one of her as a witch.  She's a real pip and she's quite at home on that broomstick.  If you're more into cutesy stop over at Cupcake Inspirations see the work of the rest of the sweeties.

HYCCT Cupcake

You never stop learning and that's a good thing.  Yesterday I learned that cupcake is slang for breast.  It's kind of cute, huh?  It's the inspiration for LuvLee's challenge in the "Hope You Can Cling to" challenges on Splitcoast Stampers.  Lee is challenging us to make a pretty wrapping for a cupcake and a tag or note to go with it.

I do love cupcakes and just about anything cupcake themed.  The paper used in this project is called "Cupcake" and the plaid paper co-ordinates with it.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this paper.  I purchased 5 or more sheets of each of them.  If it's still around the next time I'm at the store I'll pick up more - you know, just in case.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Cupcake Word Block"; Lockhart "Happy Cupcake Day"
ink - hp printer and "Pink Passion" SU marker for sentiment
paper - My Favorite Things "Pink Lemonade" card stock; Stampin' Up "Certainly Celery" and "Melon Mambo" card stock; Recollections "Cupcake" and "Pink Plaid" dp

SFTW #18 - Feeling Floral

It's time for the weekend.  Yeah!  So if you aren't up to your head in children's activities maybe you can find some time to stamp.  In which case if you add some flowers to your card you'll have an entry for this week's Stampin' for the Weekend challenge.

I'm not very good with flowers so I found a little pink flower charm and added that to my card but decided it wasn't enough so I added a few prima roses to a corner.  I'm not sure if they look good or not.  One of these days I'm going to "get it" and know just how to use the flowers but that'll probably coincide with flowers going out of style.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo - "Cupcake Word Block" digi; Lockhart  "Happy Cupcake Day"
ink - printer; Stampin' Up "Taken with Teal" marker for sentiment
paper - Stampin' Up "Taken with Teal", Yo Yo Yellow" and "Melon Mambo" card stock; cosmo Cricket "De Lovely" dp

CIC175 - Back to School

This week the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge have back to school cupcakes for your inspiration.  They are adorable.  So are the back to school images provided by our sponsor Bugaboo.  Usually it's the funny images at Bugaboo that I gravitate to but there plenty of cute images I can't resist.   Fortunately the prices aren't high so I let myself go a little nuts when I go shopping there.  Go check out the stop and the prices and you're likely to fill a card in no time.

One of the perks of being on the design team at Cupcakes is that when Bugaboo sponsors us we are given an image to use.  It's always hard to pick one because there are so many I like.  If you pop over to the CIC you can see some more of the back to school themed images that the other cuties used.  Well, if just picking one image is the biggest hardship I have to endure then my life is pretty blessed.  I hope that your life is equally blessed.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Deacon - School Sign It 2"
ink - hp printer
paper - Recollections gold card base; My Favorite Thing "Kraft" card stock; Cosmo Cricket "The Boyfriend" dp
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up notebook punch; hemp twine; apple charm

One Big Martini

The glass in this image reminds me of a funny story involving one of those enormous glasses that some honeymoon type resorts have.  I've never been to one but I have seen photos of them.  Without telling the whole story I'll just say that when you are taking your souvenir photos for show and tell if you aren't properly dressed be aware of where the mirrors in your room are or you could be embarrassed when you take those pics to work.  'nuff said.
I love that there are lots of Christmas in July challenges out there.  It's just the incentive I need to get some more cards done.

the inside
I haven't been showing the insides of my cards lately.  They're still getting done most of the time but I'm just too lazy to take and post the pics.  I know, that's really lazy.  Today is different because one of the challenges calls for a finished inside and I don't think they'll just take my word for it.

Instead of machine stitching there's doodles around the paper edges.  It doesn't show well in the photo but Glossy Accents were applied to the berries, small glass and swizzle stick.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "JJ Christmas Cheer" digi
ink - hp printer; Ranger "Worn Lipstick"
paper - Stampin' Up "Poppy Parade" cs; Me and My Big Ideas "Reds Color Basics" dp
miscellaneous - copics; ribbon; bling; glossy accents; Spellbinder's "Label One"

Let's Go to the Beach

Can you believe those little sand buckets are cupcakes.  They look so realistic, I'd be afraid to bite into one.  They sure are a great source of inspiration.  If you're living in the Northern Hemisphere you just might be planning a trip to the beach today.  I've been hearing the temps in my old NJ stomping grounds have been in the 90's and almost 100.  YIKES!  that's hotter than it is here in the sunny Gulf Coast Florida.  It's probably muggy there too.

Enough about the weather...

This week for the Cupcake Inspirations challenge #166 we've got Bugaboo Stamps for our sponsor.  I do love the Bugaboo images and for my card I'm using the very fun "Flamingo - Car" image.  If you knew me in real life you'd know that I've been a flamingo fanatic for the last 40 years and have had lots of fun with my equally crazy flamingo friend Joe.  He's used a lawn flamingo for his Christmas tree topper for years.  Then there's the convertible.  When VW came out with the "new' convertibles in 2003 I got one of the first ones to hit the lot.  Just like the one of the card it was orange with a black roof.  That was a fun car.  In case you can't read it the license plate is "NO SNO" and there's a tiny flamingo charm hanging off the pink cord.  this was a fun card for me to make.  I can't wait till the middle of winter to send it to one of my snow bound NJ friends.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Flamingo - Car"
ink - hp printer
paper - Recollections gold card base; Imaginisce "Summer Cool - Banana Flip Flop" dsp; Stampin' Up "Melon Mambo" cs
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up ticket punch; My Favorite Things "Bracket Border" and "Ticket Tab" die-namics; pink cord; flamingo twine; bling; sewing machine

Pile It On - Make Your Own Embellishment

Oh boy, this is a real fun week at Pile It On.   The theme is a fun one, make your own embellishments and the sponsor is a fun one Bugaboo Stamps.  .If I weren't on the design team I'd be playing in this challenge every day of the week.  Even though I can't do that you can, so make as many cards with your own hand made embellies and you improve your odds of being the winner of some goodies from the Bugaboo store.

I've got a few Bugs in my arsenal.  I've got a few cute ones and many of my hero Stella.  For this card I went with cute and knocked off another Christmas card.  For my home made embellies I used one of my button dies (yes, I have to admit to owning more than one, what can I say, I'm addicted to this stuff).  The great thing about a button die is that you can always get a perfect match to your papers and they are flat and light weight which makes it good for mailing.  The tiny button was made from white cs and colored with the copic I used for the background of the image.  If you want to have a thicker more realistic button you can use chipboard to thicken them up, most dies are supposed to be able to cut through chipboard.  I like the way this card turned out, I think I will make a few more just like it.  I will enjoy just sitting at my desk, listening to my favorite music and mindlessly coloring the same image over and over.  Hey, what can I say, I'm easily amused.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Make It Snappy - Reindeer Trio"
ink - hp printer
paper - Stampin' Up "Kraft" card stock; Cosmo Crickett "Oh Joy: Frosty" dp; scraps of DCWV cs for yellow border and button
miscellaneous - copics; Sizzex "Buttons #5" die; My Favorite Things "Bracket Border" die-namic; red bling
Here's the challenges:

My Sentiments Exactly

What a day this is!  First, I'm guest designing with the Bugaboo peeps on today's Catch the Bug Challenge.  Second, I'm going up to the My Favorite Things store where Wendy Ramlakhan is giving a couple copic classes.  If you're not familiar with Wendy's work then you must pop over to her blog Sugar Pea Designs.   Could it get any better?  Well, this is Florida and the weather is great and the scenery is gorgeous so I don't it can get much better.

Back to the Catch the Bug challenge.  Today me another designer from the Pile It On challenge will be guesting there and then tomorrow a couple of the Bugaboo team will be guesting with the Pile It On team.  It's kind of like exchange students for crafters.

The Catch the Bug challenge is "Dry Embossing, Designer Paper and Bling.   This card uses the "Cupcake Word Block" digi image.  Did you notice the "ransom" lettering for the word "frosting", too cute!  The dp is Recollections "Cupcake" which is one of the cutest papers I've ever seen.  I should have brought a ream of it.  The embossing is tiny dots on the aqua card stock behind the image.  I haven't figured out how to get a decent photograph of dry embossing but in real life you can see it.  Purple and Aqua bling was used to match the paper.    The "happy cupcake day" sentiment is clipped on, I still can't decide if I want it there or not, so the clip works out well.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Bugaboo "Cupcake Word Block"; Lockhart Stamp Co "happy cupcake day"
ink - hp printer and Memento "Tuxedo Black" for sentiment
paper - Bazzill "Frosted Teal" cs; the Paper Cut "Sno-Cone" cs; Stampin' Up "Orchid Opulence" and "Pale Plum" cs; Recollections "Cupcake" dp
miscellaneous - copics; Spare Parts clip; baker's twine; cake charm; bling; stitching

Here's the challenges:
Catch the Bug - Dry Embossing, Designer Paper and Bling
Crafty Ann's #130 - Stitching
Crafts and Me #81 - Embossing
Simon Says - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you'll come back again.

Snarky Birthday Greetings

I need to build up my birthday card stash.  I have tons of cards but not many are specifically birthday.  There's a couple coming up soon and nothing but a snarky card will do.  That means it's time to ink up some Bugaboo Stellas.  Oh yeah, you don't get much snarkier than that.
This one is for a guy so the embellishments are plain - some stitching, a couple brads and buttons.

Here's the same image and the same sketch.  This one is for a gal.  It's embellished with bling, ribbon and a charm, a little more girly.

The insides of both cards are very simple, just a small piece of one of the dp used on the face and white cardstock space for notes.

That's it for the card stuff but I wanted to add a couple pics from around the neighborhood and house so I can get them onto my Pinterest board.  So you're welcome to to keep scrolling through.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back.

This alligator is about four or five feet long.  Here he's hanging out in one of the ponds we pass on our morning walk.  There was a smaller one a few feet away.

The cranes are strolling along the pond that runs behind the houses on my block.

This morning they were in the street in front of our house and walking up to the boulevard where they made the motorists a little nuts as they kept going in and out of the road.
