A New Home

Can you see the birdhouse charm?  Clicking on the pic enlarges it.
It's time for the Paper Pretties Challenge.  This one is going to be  one you'll have to enter.  It's "PWC147 -Bring on the Bling".   I know you all just love using your bling.  For my card I added the bling to the corners and to the one of the mugs.  I'm sure you can find some spots to add a little extra sparkle onto your card, so bling it up and link it up.  Need a little more inspiration, here's the link to the Paper Pretties Challenge blog, that's where you'll find the details for the challenge, Mr. Linky to link up your creation and some more cards by the other members of the design team.  I can guarantee you, you'll like what you see there.

Last summer my dear friend's daughter was married.  Now she and her husband have purchased their first home.  How exciting for them!    The "Brew Your Coffee" stamp features a bunch of little birdies and their homes so I inked it up to make a congratulations card for them.

Working with this image is fun.  In case you can't make out the sentiment it says "Home is where you brew your coffee and sip your tea" so it works for just about anybody (I do know one person who drinks neither coffee nor tea, but she's weird).

Here's the deets:
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
paper - the card base is red on front, it was from a box of assorted colored cards from the craft store;  Stampin' Up "Soft Sky" cs for mat; Georgia Pacific white cs; October Afternoon "Modern Homemaker" dp (I saw this on Stamp Owl's cards and had to have it!)
miscellaneous - copics; ribbon; twine; charm; Stampin' Up corner punch; Taylor's Tiny Twinkles; button

Here's the challenges:
Paper Pretties PWC147 - Bring on the Bling
City Crafter Week 50 - Celebrate Good Times

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again.  Now go get you bling out and join us in the Paper Pretties Challenge, we can't wait to see what you make.

Bunny Hansel

Hey kiddies, are you ready for another calorie free recipe from Katie?  Of course you are.  So here's this week's challenge #55 from Cooking It Up With Katie:  "Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine".  I like sparkly and shiny stuff so this is right up my alley.  Too bad my photographic abilities are not that great because there's lots of stickles on this little guy (I assume he's a guy because the name is Hansel)

This week the challenge is sponsored by Pizzaz Aplenty.  You can find all the challenge details, more fun cards created by the rest of the design team and the ever important Mr. Linky thingie by clicking here.

If you're a regular visitor to my blog or a stamping buddy you may be wondering what the heck is that image doing here.  If you're not one of the aforementioned you probably don't know that I am put off by stamps that have people without noses and mouths.  How the heck do they breathe.  If I look at them long enough I feel a little suffocated (seriously).  What's really odd is that I am not bothered by images of people without heads.  I just figure if the head were visible they'd have a nose and a mouth.  I never said that the way I think makes sense.

Here's the deets:
Don't forget the inside.

stamp - CC Designs "Bunny Hansel"

Here's the challenges:
Cooking It Up with Katie #55 - Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine

Really, Reasonable Ribbon #20 - One for the Boys (Hansel is a boy, that's why I mage him a blue bunny instead of a pink bunny)

Fairy Fun Fridays #49 - Oh So Spring
Stamp Something - Spring Somethings

Isn't he handsome?  I realize you aren't here to see my kitty.  I've had trouble with my blog and not being able to get photos to appear so this is my test to see it it'll stay.  Now I have to see if I can get the photos back onto the post they were deleted from.

Sunday, March 27, 2011

Can anybody help this non-techy type figure out what's going on with blogger.  This morning the post below this had 3 photos in it.  I was reading the comments and when I came back they were gone.
I tried to edit them in but they disappeared again.
I tried to do a new post of the same material and the pics disappeared.  When I went to delete the post the pictures show at the bottom of the post and ask if I want to delete them but they no longer appear in the post where I positioned them.  I checked the original post and it's the same.
I looked at the help menu but don't understand any of the stuff that is in there.  can anybody explain in a non techy way how I can fix this?

A Spring Garden

Every week I find myself asking "Where does Rachel find these photos?"  These are some amazing cupcakes and they are the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspiratons challenge CIC104.  The sponsor this week is Paper Pretties, a company that is very near and dear to my heart.  I'm very luckyand proud to be a member of their design team

The inspiration for my card came from the vibrant spring colors.  They are so cheerful and I just happen to have a new pad of paper that features spring flowers.  The image is from the new digtal set "Easter Babies".  It's being sold as a fund raiser, all the proceeds from the sales of the set (minus the paypal fees) will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Since they are a digital set they will be immediately available for you to use, just in time to get your Easter cards or projects started.

Putting the fun in Fund Raiser

You can click on the photo to enlarge it
When I was making winter cards I wanted to put some snow on them but darn if I couldn't find my Polar White Flower Soft.  I looked and looked and it didn't turn up but I knew it would so I refused to buy more because I figure this jar will last for the rest of my life and at least 3 generations of crafters after me.
For my winter cards I picked up a different product and really liked it so that worked out for me and just the other day, now that winter cards and snow are pretty much done I found the Flower Soft.  Does this sound like your life?  I thought so.  Maybe we should change our names to Murphy.
Finding the Flower Soft turned out to be a good thing because it looks really good on this little lamb.  Isn't this lamb just adorable!?  It's a new digi image that's available from Paper Pretties.  It's part of a set of Easter/Spring images designed by Joni Stringfield.
don't forget the inside
Because they are digital you'll get them right away so you can start working with them right away and have plenty of time to make decorations and to get your cards in the mail.
AND this can be a totally guilt free purchase because Paper Pretties' owner Heather has made this a fund raiser for Cystic Fibrosis.  See, you'll be doing a good deed when you buy this set.  All the proceeds (less Pay Pal fees) from this sale will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Stop over to the Paper Pretties blog where you can see the rest of the set and get all the details.  You'll be glad you did.

Joy Ride

can you read the charm? click on the pic to enlarge it

Not too long ago I saw a pink Vespa parked at Walmart of all places and my heart skipped a beat. What a fun vehicle. If it were the least bit practical I'd have to buy one. Heck, if gas prices keep going up I just may have to buy one. Can you imagine how mortified my daughter will be when I go to pick her up at school. Hmmm....

This week the Cat's Pajama is having a photo inspiration challenge.

Last weekend I got my itchy little hands on this fun dp, which I purchased to use with this stamp.  The plan was to use the pair somehow this week.  When I saw the inspiration photo I was tickled pink (I know you did not just groan at me cause you aren't that rude).  Ahhh, I love when my plans work out.  Life if good.

Happy Birthday Frances!

It's time for another Paper Pretties birthday blog hop.  Today we're celebrating Frances Byrne's big day. The hop starts at the Paper Pretties blog so if you just popped here on your own why not go to the beginning.   Many of you probably know Frances as Stamp Owl.  That's her name at Splitcoast Stampers.  Splitcoast is where I started my on line pursuit of stamping.  There were two stampers works that I kept noticing and one of them was Frances.  I became an immediate fan and now I am honored to be on a design team with her.  Lucky for me she's very patient and helpful, not to mention encouraging and supportive.

don't forget the inside

So I mentioned earlier that there were two women on Splitcoast that I noticed immediately.  The other stamper I noticed right away was Cindy Haffner.  Isn't it funny that they are both on the Paper Pretties team and how lucky  for me to be able to work/play with these terrifically talented women.  So now it's time for you to move onto the next stop on the hop and you can see for yourself what I mean cause your next stop is Cindy Haffner's Corner.
If you get lost at any time just go to the Paper Pretties blog and you can find the list of the participants and links to the blogs.

Birthday Girl

You can click on the image to enlarge it
Can you ever have enough birthday cards?  Seems I'm always looking for one so for this week's MFT challenge I decided to go with a birthday stamp and inked up the a la Mode "Birthday Girl".  The paper is from a package I've been wanting to break open for awhile, it's "Up, Up and Away" by Kaiser Craft.  The colors and images could be used for a masculine card.  But if you dress it up with lots of soft pink embellies it becomes feminine and romantic.

Painting Eggs

You can click on the photo to enlarge it
Spring is my favorite time of year but here in Florida it feels more like the middle of summer felt in my old stomping grounds.  MInd you I'm not complaining.  It's quite enjoyable.  But it is Spring so I'm in the mood to make Spring cards which is why I chose to use the penguins decorating an egg stamp.  The sketch is  the Cat's Pajama's challenge for this week.  Banners have become a big thing in the paper crafting community and when I see them I marvel at how good they look, but they don't come easily to me, well, that's why it's a challenge!

Darling Daisies

Oops, what happened, there's no charm.  Click on the photo to enlarge.
EEK! That's the sound I made when I saw the challenge photo for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. You should have seen my cat jump.
Those daisy cupcakes are just gorgeous.  Week after week I marvel at the beautiful pastries Rachel finds for our inspiration.
Years ago I took all three of the Wilton cake decorating classes so I have an idea of what went into making them.  It was a lot of fun taking the classes, making the cakes, and eating the cakes.  Even though it's fun, it's work and not easy.  So I will spend most of my days decorating cards and leave the cakes to the rest of you.

Aren't these yummy looking.

don't forget the inside

The sponsor for this week's challenge is Heather Ellis, the creator of Pure Innocence.  She's giving a prize of three images.  Did you just make the "eek" sound?    What a great prize!  And all you have to do is be inspired by those gorgeous cupcakes.  So take a look at them and get cracking.  Wipe the drool off your face before you start your card or project, it makes a mess, yeah, you can cover it with an embellie but if you can catch it beforehand...

I look terrible in yellow so I tend to shy away from it. However, when I see yellow cards I always think they look very cheerful so I took this challenge to heart and went out shopping for yellow papers and embellies. After all, it's me not my cards that look lousy in yellow. I got a little carried away and came home with lots of fun stuff.   I even used some of it on this card.

Here's the deets:

Happy Mother's Day

Can you see the charm?  Click on the photo to enlarge it.
Does it seem a little early for a Mother's Day card?  Not if you're from the United Kingdom, Mother's Day is April 3rd in the UK.

Stampin' for the Weekend is challenging you to make a Mother's Day card.  If you're from the states you'll just be ready early, nothing bad about that, so go ahead and get a jump on things.  You can find all the challenge details here as well as get some more inspiration from the other Design Team members.

For my card I used a stamp that's been in my stash for a long time but this is the first time it's seen ink.  Yeah!  It's always a good thing when the rubber meets the ink.  The dress was paper pieced so to make things work every element of the image was pieced.  In person all that piecing adds a little dimension to the card.  Also the lilies were covered in stickles and it doesn't show in the photo.

Howdy Cowboy!

can you see the cowboy hat charm, click on the pic to enlarge it
Do you always make girly cards?  Left to my own devices I make cards that may not be frilly but would not be suitable to send to a man so it's a good thing when I'm challenged to make a masculine card.  This week Paper Pretties PWC145 Challenge is to make a masculine card.  You should play along with us so you will have something in your stash for when you need it.  You don't have to use a Paper Pretties image but if you've got then we'd love to see what you do with them.
I always say that masculine is code for brown and even though I'm joking it usually turns out that my masculine cards end up being brown, but bright colors could be perfect.
Need some more inspiration?  Visit the Paper Pretties blog and see what the rest of the design team has created.
So what will you do?  I'd love to see your cards, and get some ideas to get away from the brown.  After you make your card link it up here

ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger "Spiced Marmalade"
paper - Cosmo Cricket "Joy Ride" pad; Stampin' Up "Soft Suede" cs for base; Georgia Pacific white cs for image

Welcome Spring!   Welcome warm weather.
It seems like just yesterday that the Northeast was blanketed in a couple feet of snow.  Well it is still only March and I'd like to share a little wisdom that my mother passed on to me one year  when the weather turned warm early.  She told me that one year they may be wearing shorts at the New York Saint Patrick's Day parade but the next they could be marching in a blizzard.

It's time for another Cooking It Up with Katie recipe.  The challenge is "Green, Cute and  Easter".  The sponsor is Digital Delights and they supplied this "Bunny Dylan" image. You could make those PJs in your child's favorite color for an extra special touch.  Whatever you do your handmade project will be appreciated by children and adults alike.  By the way, if you're not Christian you can substitute "Spring" for Easter.  So everybody get busy and make a card or project.  You can link your creations up here.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Digital Delights "Bunny Dylan"
paper - Basic Grey "Origins" dp; Stampin' Up "Soft Suede" cs for mats, "Certainly Celery" for card base; an SU scrap for the image mat it was an in color awhile ago.
miscellaneous - copics; bunny brads; mini brads; button; bunny charm; stickles; burlap twine; sewing machine

Here's the challenges:
Cooking It Up With Katie - Green, cute and Easter
the Pink Elephant TPE95 - Springtime
Crafty Catz #73 - Yellow and Green
Terrifically Thrilling Thursday - something green
Paper Play week 10 - Shades of Green/Good Luck
Crazy CCH #58 - Eyelets or brads

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again.  Now get busy making a card for Kate's challenge.

Glorious Green

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you!

While I'd love to have one of these cupcakes I think I'll be hunting' down a loaf of Irish Soda Bread instead, that's one of my favorites.

These cuppies and cookies are the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspiration challenge, sponsored by the Doodle Pantry.  Can you stop drooling long enough to make a card or project.  There's so much to be inspired by, those beautiful roses, the sweet little shamrocks, the soft colors, and of course cupcakes!

I used an image from the Doodle Pantry that features an ant and a four leaf clover to make my card so I used the color of the shamrocks as my inspiration.  All those sweet little white dots on the pastries made me get out my liquid pearls to decorate the lacey circle mat.

Do you walk past all those tiny  $1 clear stamp sets when you're in the craft store.  I'm a sucker for them.  Since I didn't have any "Irish" designer paper for this card I was able to make my own using some of those little stamps.   It's fun and easy, give it a try sometime.
Here's the deets:
stamp - Doodle Pantry digi for main image and large inside sentiment; Studio G clear stamps for" 4 leaf clover" and "It's All About the Green"
ink - printer for image; SU "Glorious Green" and "Green Galore" for homemade dp
paper - Warsau Paper Classics card stock for dp and mat; Georgia Pacific white cs for printing digis
miscellaneous - copics; stickles; bakery twine; charm; liquid pearls; nesties circle and lacey circle dies; green silk ribbon

don't forget the inside

Here's the challenges:

Really Reasonable Ribbon #19 - Green Theme
Sisterhood of Crafters - Leaping Leprachauns
L'il Red Wagon - St. Paddy's Day Green
Stampin' Royalty #62 - Go green for St. Patrick's Day

I hope you're inspired by this week's Cupcake Challenge photo.  Go get your supplies out and start stamping.  When you're finished link up your creation here so we can see what you've done.  We love to visit your blogs and marvel over how creative you all are, and who knows, you could win a prize.

Let's Hop!

you can enlarge the photo by clicking on it
Are you hopping along with the Pretties?  Then you came here from Amber's blog.  When you're done here you're going to go to Cindy's blog (don't worry I'll throw another link to Cindy in at the end of this post).   If you just popped in here why don't you join the hop.   There are four new stamp sets being released today (you can start shopping at 7 AM) and the design team members have each picked at least one to showcase.  We started the hop at the Paper Pretties challenge blog, just click on the name it's a link to bring you there.  I'll wait for you to get back here.  Go have fun!
It's also challenge day at Paper Pretties.  Convenient how that worked out.  The challenge this week, PWC144, is to use ribbon.  How easy is that!?  I tied a little piece of green ribbon tied around the image panel.  Speaking of the image, it's "Party Giraffe".   I was in a fun and funky mood the day I colored it in, thinking that if I were a party animal I'd be very colorful.  Besides who says you have to use brown and tan?  Not me.  I say go for pinks and purples, neon greens with bright yellows, or oranges and hot pinks.  Have fun with color.   Just saying...
So, for this weeks challenge find a favorite ribbon or ribbons and use them on your card.  After you've completed your card link it up on the Paper Pretties challenge blog for a chance to win a prize.   You don't have to use a Paper Pretties image but if you have them we love to see what you do with them.

don't forget the inside

Here's the deets:

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll come back again and of course I want to see what you do for the ribbon challenge so don't forget to link up your card or project.  And now it's time for you to move onto the lovely and extremely talented Cindy Haffner's blog.  I know you're going to like what she does, cause it's always drop dead gorgeous!   Have fun hopping.

Happy Birthday Sweet 16

can you see the pin in the ripped paper up top, click the photo to enlarge
Sneaky Peaky time again.  Today we're showing off "Sweet 16".  You have to stop by (that's an order!) the Paper Pretties blog to see some more cards made with this stamp.  This one is so cute and fun I actually squealed when I saw it.

I happen to have a 16 year old daughter, so after I made this card I showed it to her and it got her seal of approval, which is not the easiest thing to get.

As if being the mom of a teen-ager isn't hard enough, they turn 16 and we're supposed to teach them to drive!  YIKES!

Making a birthday card is a lot easier and if you make yourself a nice big margarita you'll soon forget about the driving.  Eventually you'll forget about everything but your crafting skills may be compromised.  You may want to stay that way for most of the teenage years.  At least it's only a few years.

Signs of Spring

Click on the photo to enlarge it and see the flower charm
When you live in a place where there is snow, like my old home in New Jersey, when March rolls around you find yourself looking for signs of spring.  That's the crocus.  They are gorgeous and they are making their appearance on front lawns all over the Northeast.
I almost miss seeing them.  Almost, but I got a great surprise from Cupcake Inspirations Challenge.  This week we are sponsored by Paper Garden Projects who supplied this beautiful digital image.  They've got lots of beautiful images to choose from, have fun, go shopping, pick up something to use for this week's challenge.  Here's the inspiration photo.

There's so much in this one little photo to inspire you.  So sit back and relax, think about it for a little while then get your supplies out and play with us.   After you've made your card or project don't forget to link it up on Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog.  You may be the lucky winner of a $20 store credit to Paper Gardens Project but everybody is a winner this week because they are offering a free digital cupcake stamp to everyone.  How great is that!  So click here to see what Paper Garden's Project is giving you.

I am sorry to tell you that I can't put the deets here today.  I'm on the road and left my list at home.  If all goes well I will be back to edit this post.  If you leave a comment saying you'd like to know what something is, I'll get back to you with an answer.

A Boy's Birthday

It's preview time.  Paper Pretties is previewing the March releases.  This is so much fun for me.  I've seen the stamp sets but I haven't seen what the rest of the DT has done with them yet so I'll be hopping over to the Paper Pretties blog to see it all.

I don't know about you but I struggle with cards for boys and men.  I'm drawn to images that are more girly so I was thrilled to receive this goofy (I mean that in the most complimentary way possible) giraffte stamp.  Isn't it just FUN!  It can easily be made into a girl or a boy's card, it's just a matter of switching your colors, maybe adding some sweet embellishments for a girl's card.  AND the set comes with sentiments that can be used for an invitiation.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties - "Party Giraffe"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"; Memento "Cottage Ivy" for sentiment; Versafine "Toffee" inside image
paper - Stampin' Up rich regals cs; Georgia Pacific white cs for image and sentiment; K & Co, "Daydreams" dp
miscellaneous - copics; charm; SU hemp twine; SU oval and scalloped oval punches; Nesites oval and scalloped ovals; Martha Stewart border punch; stickles

don't forget the inside
