I Love Beetles

I love VW Beetles.  I have loved them since I was a little kid and wanted to own one when I was old enough to drive.  Back in those days the cars had the motors in the back and my father adamantly refused to let me drive one.  If he had his way he would have got me a tank to drive.  So for years I pined for a beetle.  When I heard that VW was going to make a convertible beetle back in 2003 I had to have one and as soon as I saw one on the local VW car lot I stopped and bought one.  If you're a regular here you know it was orange with a black roof.  It was so much fun to drive.  Shortly after that I traded it in for one that was robin's egg blue with gray roof.  There aren't too many of them around, they usually have a black roof.  The point of this is to say that if there were a lavender one on the lot I probably would have gotten that one.  And while I didn't put flowers on either of them I did cut out yellow foam shapes and put them on the orange one so it would resemble a jack o lantern.
So I had to have this image.  It's called "Lovebug" and if you have to have it too just click here.  I got it today and wanted to use it right away so I printed it out and got my copics out.  Stamp Something has a photo inspiration for this week challenge.  That was where I got my start from.  I focused on the party hat with the flowers on it and used the colors for my card.  I remembered the Sweet Wednesday Sketch would be great because I could echo the flowers on the beetle in the layout.  So that's how the card came together.

Here's the deets:
Stamp - Shirley's 2 Girls "Lovebug" digi image
Ink - printed on my HP with a little bit of Ranger pink sponged on the sentiment banner
Paper - dp Cosmo Cricket "De Lovely"; cs the Paper Cut Sno Cone (light blue mat) and Pink lemonade (card base); yellow cs DCWV
Miscellaneous - Creative Memories paper flowers; MFT buttons; car charm from acharmingplace.com; the Cat's Pajama's twine; stickles; Recollections Rhinestone stickers and purple Pearl stickers; My Favorite Things "rick rack" die-namics
