Ship Happens

Ship happens, yes it does, it happens to all of us, it's just a matter of attitude as to how it turns out in the end.  "Ship Happens" also just happens to be the same of this stamp set from the Cat's Pajamas.  It features those whacky lovable penguins Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod, some of the kitty pack have called them Moe, Larry and Curly or Larry, (my brother) Darryl and (my other brother) Darryl.  Oh Lordy, they do remind me of the Darryls and the stooges.  Whatever you call them they sure are fun to play with.
Since they are off in a tea cup I had to get out my Ranger Tea Dye pad and sponge up the edges of all the papers and the the flowers, those crocheted flowers were once a lovely shade of white.  I also dug out my Deco Color Liquid Gold pen.  I used it for the faux stitching all around the dps and on the tea cup.  My mother always said that tea tasted better in porcelain or china cup and this tea cup looks like it could be china so to mimic a proper fancy cup I paper pieced the cup and then covered the curlicue with gold and lined the rim with the gold.  It's not so obvious in the photo.
All the details of the card have one challenge or another as its basis.  The sketch is Jen Del Muro's I Heart 2 Stamp SFYTT challenge.  The 3 dp's, 2 flowers and ribbon were picked Stampin' for the Weekend.  I try to use a charm and pearls or bling on all my cards so the "extra credit" for using a charm worked out for me.  The faux stitching is for Paper Sundaes.
One last detail which isn't obvious is that the I stamped the middle penguin a second time, cut him out and glued him on top of the first stamp so that his little wing could sit over the edge of the cup.  It wouldn't like right otherwise.

Here's the deets:
Image - The Cat's Pajamas "Ship Happens"
Ink - Brilliance Graphite Black; Ranger Tea Dye
Paper - dp My Mind's Eye "Dreamy 2" package, cs Stampin' Up "Kraft"; white cs Georgia Pacific
Miscellaneous - copics for the beaks and cup interior; CTMH crocheted flowers; Prima flowers; TCP twine; May ribbons; Queen and Co. pearls; Decor Color Liquid Gold pen; tea cup charm; cork
