PWC334 Polka Dots

Happy Wednesday, and welcome to another Paper Pretties challenge.  The theme for this week's challenge PWC334 is Polka Dots.  You can have a lot of fun with polka dots, use little ones or really big ones, use just a few of them or use a whole lot of them, just use them.

For my card the polka dots patterned paper is used on the long panel and it is also used to paper piece Sophia's dress. The swirls on the red background paper are also polka dots.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Tis the Season Sophia" clear
ink - memento Tuxedo Black
paper - Bazzill String of Pearls" card stock; Imaginesce "Candy Cane Lane- Ice Capades"; scrap of green

PWC333 - Happy Birthday

Wohoo for Wednesday!  It's time for a new Paper Pretties challenge.  PWC333 is "Happy Birthday".  So now's your chance to bulk up your stash or to whip up one for that special somebody who's big day is coming up.  After you've finished whipping it up just post it to the Paper Pretties blog and you'll be in the running for chance to win your pick of 5 digi images.

My card uses the "Crazy for Cupcakes"  digi image.  I love digis because they don't take up any space but you can print them as large as your printer will allow.  This card is 5" x 7" so the image is fairly large but I could have scaled it down to make a smaller card or tag, that's the beauty of digis.  This particular image is great because you can use for a boy or girl, or a grown up - after all who doesn't love cupcakes?

Again, I've kept the card simple.  There are a couple embellishments.  Down the side panel there's a punched border of candles and across the front top panel there are three cupcake buttons that have had the shanks removed.  The image panel is popped up with dimensionals.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Crazy for Cupcakes" digi
ink - printer
paper - Bazzill "Blossom" pink and  scraps of green card stock;  October Afternoon "Cakewalk" patterned paper
miscellaneous - copics; EK Success candle border punch; cupcake buttons

PWC332 - Friendship

I am sorry to be late adding this week's Paper Pretties' challenge PWC332 "Friendship".   I hope you have more time than I do and will get to play along.

This card uses the digi image "Buttons" which may not seem to be about friends but my bestie happens to love buttons and finds very creative ways to use them on cards so this is a perfect image for her.  I've made a little tag to let her know how I feel about her.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Buttons" digi
ink - printer; Ranger walnut ink for edges
paper - Bazzill Glow card stock; My Mind's Eye Follow your Heart Be Amazing Patterned Paper
miscellaneous - copics; Martha Stewart tag punch; Spellbinders circle and inverted scalloped circle die; twine

PWC331 - Clean and Simple

Happy Fall Y'all and welcome to the newest Paper Pretties Challenge.   The theme for PWC331 is Clean and Simple.

It seems that most stampers start out making CAS simple cards and if they have the time and money to grow their stash they start to make more complicated cards using lots of layers and embellishments.  Well, at least that's what happened to me and after awhile it started to become difficult to make a CAS card but I've been trying to work at doing things a bit differently than I usually do them, like use colors that I don't usually use, or try a new technique, make more masculine cards.  Just shake things up a little and making CAS cards is one of the things I've been trying to do more often.

For those of you who don't know what a Clean and Simple card is, it's a card that is all about the design, not about embellishments and they should have lots of "white" (in this case white means empty and can be any color) space, basically what the name implies.

For my card I used the "Fall Cooper" stamp set.  To go with the Clean and Simple theme I decided to just put a hint of color in a few spots.  After I finished I thought this might have looked even better if I had only colored his cheeks instead of his entire face, well, that's a project for another day.  If you're not very good at coloring you can add some interest to your stamped image by just touching a bit of marker color or pencil in a few key spots.  It's so much better than just a plain stamp and very easy to do.  Just a pick color that's in your patterned papers that co-ordinates with your card stock.  Or be daring and pick a color that contrasts with your paper.  Whatever you do, just have fun and when you're finished link it up with the Paper Pretties challenge blog for a chance to win 5 digi images.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties - Fall Cooper - Clear
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
paper - Neenah Classic Crest Brilliant White card stock; Bazzill Sunbeam, Apricot and Pinecone card stock
miscellaneous - copics; EK Success leaves punch; Stampin' Up corner punch

PWC330 Sporty

Rah! Rah! Rah! It's time for a Paper Pretties new Challenge.  PWC330 is "Sporty".  You can also use school colors.  So I've got a cheer leader in my old high school's colors, at least I think that was what they were, it's been a long, long, long time....

This is a very simple card, nothing fussy about it.  Just simple straight cuts, no dies or punches used.  If you want to copy it and don't have the candies you can sub some tiny buttons.

This digi image comes with three sentiments any one of which I could have added to the front of this card - next to her knee would a perfect spot.   I've left off the sentiment because I'm not sure how I'm going to use this card, even though it's a team spirit card I may use it for a birthday or a get well or cheer up card.  It definitely has potential for cheer up.  So I've left off the sentiment so that I can use it for whatever need comes up.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Cis" digi
ink - printer
paper - Bazzill "Sunbeam" card stock; My Favorite Things "Whip Cream" card stock; October Afternoon "Modern Homemaker" patterned paper
miscellaneous - copics; stickles; Queen & Co Candy Shoppe Candy Stripers; Stampin' Up Subtles Candy Dots

PWC329 Fall/Halloween

Oh Boy, my favorite holidays are coming up and Paper Pretties challenge PWC329 "Fall/Halloween" kick starts the season.

I just love Halloween, creepy and scary or just silly.   All the costumes and decorations have been fun for me since I was a little kid but if Halloween isn't your thing then you can still play along and just use a Fall/Autumn theme.  The colors of Fall are gorgeous and who among doesn't have something to be grateful about so there's got to be something you can make to play along in this challenge.

Since I love Halloween and I love cupcakes I pulled out one of my favorite Paper Pretties sets "Holiday Sweets I - Clear".  It's a favorite set because there are four cupcakes in the set, celebrating four different holidays.  After coloring the image, I pulled the paper (it's from an old retired Stampin' Up pack) and some embellies and put it together in a simple layout.  Did you notice the googlie eyes in the upper right corner?  I'm telling you, I love Halloween, when else do you get to use those bad boys?

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Holiday Sweets I - Clear"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black and VersaMagic Spanish Olive
paper - Neenah Classic Crest Brilliant White card stock;  Bazzill - Sunbeam card stock; Stampin' Up "Basic Black" card stock; Stampin' Up "Ghostly Greeting" patterned paper

PWC327 - Sympathy

This week at Paper Pretties our challenge theme PWC327  is "Sympathy".  That's a challenge that usually goes over like a lead balloon but let's face it, eventually we all need to send one of these to someone so it's a good thing to have in our stash and if you don't get a nudge to make one you probably won't so now's the time to do it.

I prefer sympathy cards to be CAS.  It's a somber time and the frills may not be appreciated. That doesn't mean it has to be black and white, or gray or white, or silver and white, all of which are good choices for sympathy cards.  Pastel colors also work and since I love pink that's what I choose for this card which uses one of the "Irish Blessings" sentiments for a focal point.  To dress it up a little I used Spellbinder dies to frame it and popped it up with dimensionals.  A  Stampin' Up corner punch  was used on the pink mat to give it a little more interest.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Irish Blessings"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Bazzill "Buttercream" and Pink card stock
miscellaneous - Spellbinder's Label's Four and Imperial Gold Labels Four dies; Stampin' Up corner die

PWC326 Orange/Turquoise

It's a colorful challenge at Paper Pretties this week.  PWC326 is "Orange and Turquoise", and if that doesn't scream hot fun in the summertime I don't know what does.  It's the beach - surf and sun or any kind of fun you can imagine.  So break out your favorite coloring medium and get to work on a card or project to enter into this week's challenge and you could win your choice of five digis.  Just remember to link it up on the Paper Pretties challenge blog.
My card features "Live, Love, Golf" stamp.  I don't play gold but it seems like everyone else I know does so this stamp comes in handy.  The golf course is one place you can get away with wearing any color and pattern combination, in fact this outfit is kind of tame for the golf course but I digress...

The image is stamped on Neenah paper and colored with copics but the skirt is pieced with paper to match the papers used on the card.  On the panel behind the stamped image I wrapped bakers twine on the diagonal  to go along with the pattern of the paper.  Let me tell you, this was a a pain in the butt to do and I am not likely to do this again.  If you happen to like the way it looks and want to do it then you should have some scotch tape on hand because when you wrap the twine it does not want to go on the diagonal and in order to get it do this I had to secure it on the backside at every turn. There may be an easier way to do this, maybe running a thin line a quick drying glue where you want the twine to lay will work but I don't know about that since I don't own any of that.  Hanging off the baker's twine there's a golf bag charm which is difficult to see through the watermark but in real life it looks quite cute.  Lastly to punch up the orange aspect I randomly scattered a few Glitter Dots on the card.

Here the deets:
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"; Close To My Heart "Ocean"
paper - Neenah Classic Crest Brilliant White card stock; My Favorite Things "Orange Fizz" and "Tangy Orange" card stock; Simple Stories "Snap" patterned papers pad
miscellaneous - copics; Glitter Dots Tropical; Baker's Twine; golf bag charm

PWC324 Black, White Plus One

It's Wednesday, time for Paper Pretties PWC324 challenge. This week it's a really simple one, it's black and white plus one so all you folks who don't like to color this one's great for you.  You just have to add a little color highlight to play in this one.  You don't even have to use Paper Pretties stamps to play, but if you have them we'd love to see them.  So after you get your card or project finished  post them on the Paper Pretties blog and you'll be in the draw to win five digis of your choice.

Keeping with the simple color theme, I've kept my card clean and simple. There are many stamps that will look great with just a small section colored but not as many will tell the tale that this one, "Oh, Baby",does.  The story could be rewritten in pink.  And of course for those of you who feel that sex should not be defined by colors such as pink and blue, that bundle of joy could be any color you like.  A simple ribbon with a little black thread running through it is perfect for this theme and a charm hanging of the bow for a finishing touch and that's that.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Oh Baby"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Stampin' Up blue card stock (it's old and in a mismarked package)
miscellaneous - copics; ribbon; twine; baby blocks charm; Spellbinder's rectangle die

PWC323 - Boys Cards

It's time for Paper Pretties new challenge PWC323  "Boys Cards".  This is a good challenge for me because left to my own devices I usually make feminine cards.  BUT when I need a masculine card my Paper Pretties stamps are the best starting point. There's a slew of images that feature boys and men.  Go to the Paper Pretties store and check out Cooper, Zack and Luke stamps you know there's something for every masculine card you'll ever need to make.

This card features "Right On Par".  I don't understand what it is about golf that gets under peoples skin but almost everyone I know plays so this card won't stay in my stash for long.  When I make cards for men I try to keep the embellishments to a minimum.  I think you can add any kind you like, even bows and bling to masculine cards, you just have to keep them low key. I used gold pearls on the sentiment label and in the corner and that's it.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Right On Par - Clear"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black" and "Cottage Ivy"
paper - Bazzill "Parakeet" card stock; My Favorite Things "Natural" card stock; Echo Park "This and That" Patterned Paper Pack

PWC322 - Thank You Cards

It's Wednesday, ugh, what's a gal to do?  The only sane thing is to head to you craft space and play along with Paper Pretties challenge PWC322 "Thank You Cards".   The rules are pretty simple, you know the usual stuff, no back linking, follow the theme and have fun.  You don't even have to use Paper Pretties products but if you have them we love seeing them.

I recently got my inky fingers on the "Celebrate Fall Combo" stamp set so I had to use it for today's challenge.  With chevron designs appearing everywhere it's nice that the dress and bowl in the stamp have chevron designs on them.  I picked them up in the patterned paper which was a gift from Heather (the queen of all things Paper Pretties) but I know you all can find those chevrons in punches, die cuts and embossing folders too.  OH, those little flags at the top of the card.  Sometimes I get lazy and don't feel like bothering to die cut things (I know, that's really lazy, but hey, I am what I am), I just cut them out with scissors.  It's not difficult so if you're on a budget that's a pretty easy way to decorate your cards using scraps.  If you can't see it, the leaf charm says "give thanks".

Every now and then someone asks me where I get the charms.  I look all over for them and will pick them up any place I see something I like.  However I don't like to spend a lot of money on them and in many instances they are expensive so I pass them by.  I like a bargain, and I've found that you can get some good deals on charms at Oriental Trading but you will be getting several of the same thing so you may want to go in on them with a friend.  Don't just look for them in the charms category, look under bracelets or jewelry.  Sometimes you'll find the same charms for less money.

Here's the deets"
stamp - Paper Pretties "Celebrate Fall Combo" clear
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Xpress Blending card stock; Simple Stories "Summer Fresh" patterned paper; Bazzill "Apricot" and "Hillary" card stock

PIO#31 - Stiching - Real or Faux

It's about time for another Pile It On challenge.  At Pile It On there are two design teams and we alternate weeks, I'm so happy that this is my week because I got to play with a really adorbale image from our sponsor, All Dressed Up.  If I weren't on the design team I'd be making it a point to play in this week's challenge for a chance to win the prize which is 2 digi images.  So, if you'd like a chance to win your choice of 2 images all you have to do is enter your card or project into our PIO#31 challenge "Stitching - Real or Faux" (in case you don't know faux is French for false, so if you can't sew you can fake it by drawing some stitches on your work).  You need to enter it into at least one other challenge and that's it, you're in.

Here's the deets:

PWC321 Red and Green

Happy hump day and welcome to Paper Pretties Wednesday challenge.  Even though it's the middle of summer at Paper Pretties we're in a festive Christmasy kind of mood, well at least I am.  This week's challenge is the last color challenge of the month and the color combination is "red and green".  That's why I'm in a Christmasy mood, but you don't have to make a Christmas card, just use the color combination of red and green for whatever theme you'd like.

While Christmas is still on my mind if you're reading this and it's still July you have a chance to take advantage of the "Christmas is July" sale at the Paper Pretties store.  Using the promo code CHRISTMAS you will get 50% of your entire order.  So now's the time to stock up on any of those stamp sets you've been dreaming about and with that discount you don't have to feel guilty at all.

This is a fairly clean and simple design. For the challenge I put a touch of green on the snowman's hat and colored the bird red.  The stamped image fit nicely into a Spellbinder's ornament die.  At the top I used a real button for embellishment, so it's not post office friendly, if I were going to drop this in a mail box I'd have made a card stock button.  However I don't mind a visit to the post office, so it can be hand cancelled.  I found a patterned paper that was red and green and finished it off by stamping the sentiment in the corner.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Frosty - Clear"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
paper - Neenah "Classic Crest Brillaint White card stock; Teresa Collins "Spring Fling" patterned paper; Bazzill "Grenadine Red" card stock"
miscellaneous - copics; Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornaments die; baker's twine; button

PWC319 Red, Black and White

This is a love card.  Not in the traditional sense.  It's about shoes.  Shoe lust, you either get it or you don't.  If you get it, then you probably have seen every episode (and movie) of "Sex and the City", stopped women on the street that you don't know to ask where they got their shoes, have purchased shoes that you don't have anything to wear with (yet), stand in your closet just to admire your footwear, you think the higher the heel the better, would never wear sandals without a fresh pedicure, and have or have to have the Sassy Shoes stamp set from Paper Pretties.  But I'm getting ahead of myself...

It's Wednesday, that means it's time for another Paper Pretties challenge.  For July, all the challenges are color challenges.  This week's color combination is "Red, Black and White".   A crowd favorite that will be lots of fun for you.  Don't forget to add your card at the link up area on the challenge blog so you're in it for a chance to win five digis of your choice.  We can't wait to see what you make.

Red, black and white is such a fun combination.  You can go in so many directions, anything from a cutesy country gingham look, maybe a Christmas card, or even a sophisticated and sleek birthday card.   My choice was a cute friend card.  The stamps in this set are outlines so for this card in order to get a red shoe I stamped on the same card stock that I used to die cut the heart background.  Then I cut it out an popped it up on a die cut heart.  I made a belly band, stamped the sentiment on that, tied some twine around it, added a charm before tying the bow and attached it to the heart background, then popped the heart with the shoe on top of that.  Voila!

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Sassy Shoes- clear"
ink - Memento "Tuxedo Black"
paper - Stampin' Up "Basic Black" and "Cherry Cobbler" card stock; Bazzil "Snow White" card stock
miscellaneous - Simon Says Stamp "Floating Hearts" die; Spellbinder's "Scalloped Hearts" and "Hearts" dies; waxed black linen twine; shoe charm

A Scrappy Card

The Cat's Pajamas has a "Summer Blog Hop" challenge.  The only requirement is to use one stamp or cut up from the recent Summer Release.   This card uses a stamp from the "Vintage Summer" stamp set and the flower was made with the "Petal Posies" cut up.  If you're interested all the other dies used are listed in the deets below. The leaves were cut free hand and a vein was scratched down the center of them with a piercing tool.

The layout for the card is a sketch from Retro Sketches challenge.  My original plan for this card was to use no patterned paper but then I realized that I have tons of scraps of patterned paper that would look better as the flags and isn't using the scraps in places like this just why I've been saving them. Speaking of scraps, the mat around the stamp is a saved leftover piece from a card I made for my June 13 post.

To go along with the vintage theme of the stamp, shabby chic colors were used and the edges of the papers were sponged with Ranger's Tea Dye ink.  These colors just happen to be the colors in the Creative Craft Cottage challenge.  To keep the soft look, instead of stamping black on white, this is a Stampin' Up's "Baked Brown Sugar" on My Favorite Things "Natural" card stock.

The card was ready posed for a photo when I decided it needed a little something to punch it up a little bit more.  Sooooo...a bit of bling was just the thing.

Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cats Pajamas "Vintage Summer"
ink - Stampin' Up "Baked Brown Sugar"; Ranger "Tea Dye"
paper -  Bazzill "Blossom" card stock; My Favorite Things "Natural", "Berrylicious" and "Pink Lemonade" card stock;Stampin' Up "Garden Green" card stock;  Crafty Secrets "Heartwarming Vintage Collection" patterned paper

Hot, Hot, Hot

It's summertime and it's hot, hot, hot.  Time for vacations and fun in the sun.  That's my inspiration for this card.  Lots, of hot summer color.  It uses the sketch for this week's The Cat's Pajamas challenge.

The stamps are all from TCP's "Summer Sentiments" set.  Can you see that "too hot" has been stamped several times on the yellow circle?

For a change of pace there's no patterned paper used on this card.

Here's the deets:
stamp - the Cat's Pajamas - Summer Sentiments

PWC318 Red, Green , Yellow Blue

Red, yellow, green and blue - that's a whole lot of color for you.  It's week 2 of a month of color challenges from Paper Pretties and those are the colors for this week's challenge PWC318.  Play along to be the winner of five digital images from the Paper Pretties store.  You can don't have to use a Paper Pretties stamp to play along but we sure do like seeing them and if you do use one, you'll get an extra entry for the winner's draw.

At first I thought it was going to be a little difficult but once I sat down and picked out my stamp it was easy peasy.   These colors are great for anything to do with children and school.  I'm sure you can make them work with other things but I'm a big fan of Sophia so children come to mind for me.  This is a very simple card to make.  The only special tool used is a corner punch.  I stamped Celebrate Sophia on X-press It card stock and colored it with copics, using the blue, yellow and red called for in the challenge, so I just made sure to use a green card stock for my card base and lay out that showed it off.  I cut all the card stock and mats with a straight edge cutter.  The yellow panel and the image panel are popped up on dimensionals.  There's a bit of sparkle on the flowers on her dress and the flowers on the yellow panel were white so I colored them with copics.  You color just about anything with copics.  There's practically no reason to buy pre-made flowers when you have die-cuts, punches and copics, except of course how beautiful and irresistible they look when you see them sitting on the shelves.  But I digress...

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Celebrate Sophia"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
paper - Stampin' Up "Gumball Green"; Close To My Heart "My Reflections - Jubilee" pack
miscellaneous - copics; Stampin' Up corner punch; pearls; Spare Parts flowers; Viva Yellow Quartz Glitter liners; red pearls

Don't forget that when you play in the Pile It On challenge you have to play in at least one other challenge, of course you can play in as many other challenges as you can find.

Here's the deets;
stamp - Dilly Beans "Amalia's Daisy Crown" digi

Jellypark - Red, White and Blue Challenge

Happy 4th of July!  It's time for big celebrations in the USA.  We like to celebrate the birth of our nation with a fireworks and we're all about the red, white and blue.  With that in mind Jellypark Friends set "Red, White and Blue" as the newest challenge.  So go get your patriotic goodies out and have some fun making a card or project to enter into our challenge.
This card uses the "Charity Children's Parade" digi image which reminds me of summer days spent down the Jersey shore with my cousins, tramping around the beach and having a blast.  Instead of waving banners we used to tie our towels around our necks like superhero capes.  The parades could travel onto the boardwalk, under the boardwalk, to the bay or the ocean.  We had no plans and went wherever the wind took us. They were the best summers ever.  But I digress...

Profits from any of the the "Charity" images are provided to the charities that have been picked by Jellypark's owner.  There is information regarding the organizations that have received funds right on Jellypark's site, as well as links to the individual charities sites.  You will always feel good about purchasing one of these.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Jellypark Friends "Charity Children Parade" digi

PWC317 - Rainbow Inspired

It's time to be inspired by color. This week's Paper Pretties challenge PWC317 is "Follow Your Rainbow".  A color challenge, a very colorful challenge, that's lots of fun.  You can take this literally and/or figuratively.  Take a look at the cards from the design team.

Color challenges are a great way to start your focus on what you will be doing on your card.  For the month of July, Paper Pretties will be having color challenges, every week will be different, but each one's a great combo so you're going to want to play along in each one.

We've also got a Christmas in July special.  You can take 50% of your entire order by using promo code:  CHRISTMAS

My card uses one of the sentiment stamps from the "Fun Quotes" set.  This set has three truly fun quotes which work well on cards that feature a sentiment on the face.  All of them will put a smile on the recipient's face, and isn't that the goal of any card.  Because this sentiment is about rainbows I pulled a patterned paper that has  a rainbow on it and then pulled lots of colors of card stock to use with it.  To play up the color aspect of the challenge I stamped it in blue in on blue card stock.  After stamping it I die cut it and then cut two more mats to frame it.   The bottom mat has a lot a detail that is lost in the photo but looks fabulous on the card.   The striped paper is the backside of the rainbow paper.  If you aren't good at matching designs and colors there's lots of companies, like this one, that have done it for you.  The last thing I did was look for some colorful embellishments.   The sunflowers are so cheery and colorful I thought they'd be perfect on this card and I had some orange glitter dots (I got them at the Paper Pretties store - don't forget the Christmas in July sale) that really pop when sitting next to them, then some red pearls in the corners and that's that.  Lots of color and cheer and a fun filled afternoon for me.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Fun Quotes" clear
ink - Memento "Danube Blue"
Paper - Stampin' Up "Ballet Blue" and "Gumdrop Green" card stock; Bazzill "Sunbeam" card stock; My Favorite Things "Tangy Orange" and "Whip Cream" card stock; K & Co "Daydreams" designer paper pad
miscellaneous- Spellbinder's "Labels 4" and "Imperial Gold Labels 4" dies; Spare parts Sunflowers; red pearls; Glitter Dots - Tropical

My card used this week's sketch from I {heart} card sketches #73.   I saw the sketch and made by card before I read the site's challenge rules and I didn't follow all the rules so I can't enter it but it is their sketch so it does need to be credited.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you'll come back again.

PWC316 - Red, White & Blue

Happy Wednesday!  You've made it to hump day so there's a new Paper Pretties challenge PWC316 for you.  This week the challenge theme is "Red, White and Blue inspired by the Fourth of July".  If you play along and post your card or project on the Paper Pretties Challenge Blog you'll be in the draw for a chance to win 5 digis of your choice from the Paper Pretties store.

For the longest time I was not a fan of this color combo but it's growing on me and I'm liking how it looks on this card.

This card features a stamp from the "Sweets for the Sweet - EZ Mount" set.  The set contains images of several baking items including a rolling pin and mixer as well as a few sentiments.   It reminds me of Christmas and the holidays because of all the baking that gets done then.   You could use the stamps to decorate your goodie packages.  There's so many more things you can do with your stamps besides make a greeting card.  By the way if you're thinking about picking up this stamp here's a little tidbit that might give you that extra push - during the month of June all orders over $15 will include 5 yards of ribbon (our choice) free.  You can also save 20% on your order using promo code JUNE20.

Here's the deets:
stamp - Paper Pretties "Sweets for the Sweet - EZ Mount"
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black and Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler

MFT Color Palette #6 Challenge

Last month I had the great pleasure of attending the second annual My Favorite Things retreat.  It was the best time.  I got to spend it with people I love being around, and doing something I love doing.  It was all about me.  I can't wait to go back next year.
Things have been busy around my house for awhile.  Hubby had knee replacement surgery in late April and one of the kids got married last weekend.  Then there's school, and dealing with kids living at home and you know all the stuff that life throws at you...well the wedding is over and hubby has recovered enough to drive but of course it's been replaced by new crazy stuff but then that's life.  Is there ever a dull moment?
With all that stuff going on I barely had time to get my DT requirements made and I've been itching to get into the box of goodies I brought home from MFT.
The new crazy includes my bestie friend having the scare of her lifetime which leaves me scared too while she awaits scheduled tests and results. So I had a reason to dig into my new stash and play along in the monthly color challenge.  I used the really cool new "Office Supplies" die-namics to make the clipboard, so much fun.  I can't wait to play with that set again.

Here's the deets:
stamp - My Favorite Things "Get Well Wishes" and "LLD-Journal It-Take Note"
ink - Memento "Nautical Blue" ink
paper - My Favorite Things "Natural", "Sweet Tooth", "Night Shift Blue" and "Spearmint" card stock; Stampin' Up "Basic Gray" card stock
miscellaneous - My Favorite Things "Office Supplies", "Pierced Fishtail Flags", "Peek A Boo Alphabet Uppercase" die-namics; embroidery floss

Here's the challenges:
My Favorite Things Color Palette #6 - Natural, Sweet Tooth, Nightshift Blue, Spearmint

PIO #25 Kawaii/Cute

This week at Pile it On we're going cute.  The PIO Challenge #25 is Kawaii/Cute.  Our Sponsor is Oddball Art by Lizzy Love and he is generously offering the winner of the challenge three digital stamps.

The design team were given a choice from four images.  I picked the "Kawaii clouds" because I enjoy playing with mixed patterns and the clouds were just so cute.   The idea of every cloud has a silver lining occurred to me while I was coloring the clouds so I grabbed a sheet of metal paper from a Little Bit of Dazzle for the background but went for the Peacock blue side so that it would fit in with the Color Throwdown's palette for this week.  I used copics to color all the clouds in the CTD;s palette and then fuzzy cut them.  That's a technique which can be either extremely stressful or very relaxing.  I usually enjoy it and today was one of those day.  Then I cut out a pierced fishtail flag and wrote my sentiment on it and popped it up on dimensionals.  The metallic sheet was embossed with a stamping up plate and for a little more fun SU candy dots were added as well as twine and an umbrella charm.

I received some sad news this week.  A very dear friend has some health issues and will be getting tests done on Monday.  She's had a tough time of it for the past couple months and given her family history I'm afraid she's scared to death of the news she will receive after the tests.  I made this card for her figuring that no matter what the results this is going to be sent to her.   It's not too frilly and neither is my friend, she appreciates hand crafted items but she isn't into lots of embellishments so I think this will suit her.

Here's the deets:

stamp - ink - printer; fine point sharpie for sentiment paper - My Favorite Things "Primitive Cream" card stock; Bazzill "Stonehenge" card stock; Add A Little Dazzle "Perfect Peacock" Metal Sheet miscellaneous - Stampin' Up "Dots" Embossing plates and Regal Candy Dots; My Favorite Things "Pierced Fishtail Flags" die-namics; divine Twine; Umbrella charm
