  When I was making winter cards I wanted to put some snow on them but darn if I couldn't find my Polar White Flower Soft.  I looked and looked and it didn't turn up but I knew it would so I refused to buy more because I figure this jar will last for the rest of my life and at least 3 generations of crafters after me. 
For my winter cards I picked up a different product and really liked it so that worked out for me and just the other day, now that winter cards and snow are pretty much done I found the Flower Soft.  Does this sound like your life?  I thought so.  Maybe we should change our names to Murphy. 
Finding the Flower Soft turned out to be a good thing because it looks really good on this little lamb.  Isn't this lamb just adorable!?  It's a new digi image that's available from Paper Pretties.  It's part of a set of Easter/Spring images designed by Joni Stringfield.

 Not too long ago I saw a pink Vespa parked at Walmart of all places and my heart skipped a beat. What a fun vehicle. If it were the least bit practical I'd have to buy one. Heck, if gas prices keep going up I just may have to buy one. Can you imagine how mortified my daughter will be when I go to pick her up at school. Hmmm....

Happy Birthday Frances!

Birthday Girl

 Can you ever have enough birthday cards?  Seems I'm always looking for one so for this week's MFT challenge I decided to go with a birthday stamp and inked up the a la Mode "Birthday Girl".  The paper is from a package I've been wanting to break open for awhile, it's "Up, Up and Away" by Kaiser Craft.  The colors and images could be used for a masculine card.  But if you dress it up with lots of soft pink embellies it becomes feminine and romantic.

 Spring is my favorite time of year but here in Florida it feels more like the middle of summer felt in my old stomping grounds.  MInd you I'm not complaining.  It's quite enjoyable.  But it is Spring so I'm in the mood to make Spring cards which is why I chose to use the penguins decorating an egg stamp.  The sketch is  the Cat's Pajama's challenge for this week.  Banners have become a big thing in the paper crafting community and when I see them I marvel at how good they look, but they don't come easily to me, well, that's why it's a challenge!

Darling Daisies

  EEK! That's the sound I made when I saw the challenge photo for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. You should have seen my cat jump.
Those daisy cupcakes are just gorgeous.  Week after week I marvel at the beautiful pastries Rachel finds for our inspiration. 
Years ago I took all three of the Wilton cake decorating classes so I have an idea of what went into making them.  It was a lot of fun taking the classes, making the cakes, and eating the cakes.  Even though it's fun, it's work and not easy.  So I will spend most of my days decorating cards and leave the cakes to the rest of you.

Happy Mother's Day

Does it seem a little early for a Mother's Day card?  Not if you're from the United Kingdom, Mother's Day is April 3rd in the UK. 

Stampin' for the Weekend is challenging you to make a Mother's Day card.  If you're from the states you'll just be ready early, nothing bad about that, so go ahead and get a jump on things.  You can find all the challenge details here as well as get some more inspiration from the other Design Team members.

For my card I used a stamp that's been in my stash for a long time but this is the first time it's seen ink.  Yeah!  It's always a good thing when the rubber meets the ink.  The dress was paper pieced so to make things work every element of the image was pieced.  In person all that piecing adds a little dimension to the card.  Also the lilies were covered in stickles and it doesn't show in the photo.

 Do you always make girly cards?  Left to my own devices I make cards that may not be frilly but would not be suitable to send to a man so it's a good thing when I'm challenged to make a masculine card.  This week Paper Pretties PWC145 Challenge is to make a masculine card.  You should play along with us so you will have something in your stash for when you need it.  You don't have to use a Paper Pretties image but if you've got then we'd love to see what you do with them.
I always say that masculine is code for brown and even though I'm joking it usually turns out that my masculine cards end up being brown, but bright colors could be perfect.

Welcome Spring!   Welcome warm weather. 
It seems like just yesterday that the Northeast was blanketed in a couple feet of snow.  Well it is still only March and I'd like to share a little wisdom that my mother passed on to me one year  when the weather turned warm early.  She told me that one year they may be wearing shorts at the New York Saint Patrick's Day parade but the next they could be marching in a blizzard.

Glorious Green

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you! 

While I'd love to have one of these cupcakes I think I'll be hunting' down a loaf of Irish Soda Bread instead, that's one of my favorites. 

These cuppies and cookies are the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspiration challenge, sponsored by the Doodle Pantry.  Can you stop drooling long enough to make a card or project.  There's so much to be inspired by, those beautiful roses, the sweet little shamrocks, the soft colors, and of course cupcakes!

I used an image from the Doodle Pantry that features an ant and a four leaf clover to make my card so I used the color of the shamrocks as my inspiration.  All those sweet little white dots on the pastries made me get out my liquid pearls to decorate the lacey circle mat.  




Do you walk past all those tiny  $1 clear stamp sets when you're in the craft store.  I'm a sucker for them.  Since I didn't have any "Irish" designer paper for this card I was able to make my own using some of those little stamps.   It's fun and easy, give it a try sometime.

 Sneaky Peaky time again.  Today we're showing off "Sweet 16".  You have to stop by (that's an order!) the Paper Pretties blog to see some more cards made with this stamp.  This one is so cute and fun I actually squealed when I saw it.  

I happen to have a 16 year old daughter, so after I made this card I showed it to her and it got her seal of approval, which is not the easiest thing to get. 

As if being the mom of a teen-ager isn't hard enough, they turn 16 and we're supposed to teach them to drive!  YIKES!

Making a birthday card is a lot easier and if you make yourself a nice big margarita you'll soon forget about the driving.  Eventually you'll forget about everything but your crafting skills may be compromised.  You may want to stay that way for most of the teenage years.  At least it's only a few years.

I don't know about you but I struggle with cards for boys and men.  I'm drawn to images that are more girly so I was thrilled to receive this goofy (I mean that in the most complimentary way possible) giraffte stamp.  Isn't it just FUN!  It can easily be made into a girl or a boy's card, it's just a matter of switching your colors, maybe adding some sweet embellishments for a girl's card.  AND the set comes with sentiments that can be used for an invitiation.

The Devil (AKA Susie Q) Made Me...

It say "Here's Hoping" on the heart

It's her fault, she challenged me to make a card wishing someone good luck. So that's what I did!  Maybe this is not quite what she had in mind. I have no idea why this is what I thought up, I'm usually so much more dignified (if you just spit out your drink go clean it up, I'll wait).

 It's usually the penguins that start the trouble but not today. It's those goofy frogs that came to mind immediately. Well that makes sense because the alternate theme is St. Patrick's Day. Saint Paddy makes me think of green. From thinking green to thinking penguins, bunnies and cats not so likely, but frogs, yeah green and frogs go toegether. Then wishing them luck, well that's just what I did.

So there you have it, a view into my thought processes. Followed a very logical path didn't it, so how come you didn't make this card. What scares me is that there just may be someone else out there who made a card just like this. Well, as I said before, it's Susie's fault.

 Right about now, I'd like to relax but I've got a million things on my mind.  That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'd like to feel relaxed, so maybe tonight I'll take a long relaxing bath.  Ah, that sounds like the ticket.

I thought I'd try to get a couple more cards done today because I have to pack up the scrapbox tomorrow and head north to the land of the ice and snow (wasn't that a song back in the 80's?).  OMG, I can't believe I'm going to have to wear long pants and socks,  I am so not into this weather conversion.  Oddly, no one up there feels sorry for me at all.  LOL.   They're going to like me even less when I show up with a tan. 

This is for My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge, and a couple green challenges (you all want to be Irish this month, don't you, OK, we love the attention) from Really Reasonable Ribbon and Paper Variety. 

Sometimes, there's lots of stuff that you can't see in the photo.  In this photo almost everything is showing except that the white cs was sponged with Close To My Heart "Colonial White".  It's very subtle but it does add a soft hint of distressing.  Once in a while I go for subtle (really, I do, stop laughing, I really do).  The button on the side of the oval is difficult to see too, it's a cute little flower from Stampin' Up.  Lastly, it's not easy to see the stamp on the inside.
