Bee Inspired

Aren't those little bees the bee's knees?  It's Sunday and on this blog that means it's time for a little inspiration.

This week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge CIC110 is sponsored by Glitterbabe.  They've generously given the design team a choice of images to use.  They have such beautiful flower images that it was very difficult to make my decision.

I ended up using the calla lilies.  I think they are gorgeous and elegant.  Since they come in a variety of colors I chose to make them yellow which is one of the colors in the inspiration photo.  The most dominant color in the photo is green so I used green patterned papers.  BUT I wasn't in the mood for bold bright colors so I picked a subtler shade of green.

I was in a shabby mood so I dingied everything up, even the ribbon and lace.  I sponged  Ranger Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo all over the edges.  To keep with the shabby style I messed up the stitching.  I think that was the hardest thing to do.  If you've never distressed a card the whole process can be a bit terrifying.  After you've put your best efforts into making everything perfect how on earth can you rip it and stain it?  I'm not sure how to get you to take that plunge but I can tell you that once you try it, you'll probably like it.

Now it's your turn to make a project inspired by the cupcakes.  Need more inspiration?  Then click on over to the Cupcakes Inspiration blog to see what the rest of the design team has made.  You'll find all the challenge details there and the linkey thingy.
