I needed a card for my "little" brother's birthday. So I went looking for a not too feminine stamp. It's amazing that with the bazillion stamps I have there are only a few "manly' ones. I like this doggie and even if it's more boyish at least it's not flowery. Maybe I'll come up with something else in the next week, I'll keep you posted.
For this card I dug into my stash, and came up with this paper from Creative Memories. Creative Memories and I have not had the best relationship mostly because I can't figure out what the heck they're doing with paper. I think 12 x 12 should just be 12 x 12 and that's all there is to it but they didn't. On the other hand I do like the cutting system and use that frequently. But I digress... I have three packs of this paper (most have been on sale?) which are chuck full of some lovely drab colors perfect for a man's card. Why is it we associate the drab colors with men's cards? hmm....
Going along with the western theme I ran one of the layers thru with an embossing folder hoping to get a rattlesnake kind of feel. I wrapped some SU linen thread(it's a little more butch than divine twine) around that panel and hung my six-shooters charm off it. I finished off the inside of the card by using some more of the CM papers and using another one of the stamps in the set.
Here's the deets:
stamps - the Cat's Pajamas "It's a Western Thing" set for the dog, stars and buildings; the Cat's Pajama's "Birthday Bunny" set for the sentiment
ink - Brilliance Graphite Black for stamping on front of the card; Ranger "Bundled Sage" sponged on edges of white cs on front of card; Ranger "Antique Linen" for inside image
paper - Creative Memories "Vintage" dp; Georgia Pacific white cs; DCWV yellow cs for stars
miscellaneous - SU linen thread; Nesties; gelly roll pen; copics; cuttlebug embossing folder; SU oval and scalloped oval punches; charm from acharmingplace.com
Here's the challenges:
