Here fishy, fishy, fishy

I received an e-mail from my cousin George today. It said that a there was a gym that posted an ad in the window with the picture of slim tanned woman. The ad read "This summer do you want to be a mermaid or a whale"? The rest of the message was a response from a woman who did not resemble the thin, tan model. She had many beautiful things to say about whales, how they play in the ocean, have virtually no enemies besides men, they are beautiful creatures, they even sing and have babies. On the other hand mermaids don't exist, if they did they'd have an identity crises trying to figure out if they are human or fish, and they probably stink like a fish. So basically the respondent was telling us to love ourselves the way we are and stop trying to be something we're not. I can't argue with that advice. Now living up to it is another story.
So here's a cute little mermaid. I know she's not real but she is a cutie. She's from the MFT stamp set Isabell Paper Dolls. There are several other stamps in the set to make outfits for Isabell to wear. OH, Isabell is a little girl doll, I masked part of the stamp so that I could put the mermaid tail on her. The image is stamped on white card stock with memento black, then colored with copics and highlighted with stickles and a gelly roll pen. The image was cut out and mounted on dimensionals. I used the MFT sketch challenge MFTSC93 for the layout. While I was at AC Moore the other day I found a package of Me an My Big Ideas paper on sale. It is perfect for summer, beach, pool or island themed cards. I couldn't resist.
365 Cards has a color challenge this week, use red, yellow, purple, mustard and turquoise. When I saw that one I laughed and didn't think I'd be participating in it but when I pulled this paper out I realized that it had almost all the colors on it already and that I could pull off the other colors very easily. I stamped the starfish in Stampin' Up More Mustard on yellow card stock and the clown fish were stamped in Stampin' Up Ruby Red and colored in copics. The starfish and clown fish were mounted on dimensionals. There is purple in the wavy print and that paper is matted with purple cardstock. The fishies have some red striped and the mermaid had a little red heart on her. Whew!

  1. What a pretty mermaid! Doesn't look like the typical "Ariel" type of mermaid which makes it even better! Love the pop-up star fish and the clown fish too.
