Come on Spring

Who doesn't like spring? Who isn't looking forward to it? Everyday I'm looking for crocus to pop up in my front yard. Winter is so dreary and seeing those yellow and purple buds gives me hope that the snow will soon be gone. After a day or two snow in the city is no longer white. Yesterday I saw a huge pile of snow that was black and looked like a chunk of coal. EWWWW. Not a pretty sight. No one can enjoy looking at that, no matter how much you like the look of snow on tree branches, or the flurries when they're falling once it's taken on the patina of soot it's nasty and needs to go.

So when I saw this week's My Favortie Things, Wednesday Stamp Club challenge to 1.) use either the Easter Basket template of another MFT template or 2.) to create something for Easter or Spring or 3.) use any MFT digi pack, well, I was ready. You can also find the challenge posted on Kim's blog which is on the store site, so you can shop there too. I love to participate in challenges, which is obvious to anyone who reads this blog. I try to do the MFT challenges every week, and I've been very lucky there. My Polar Love card just won last week's challenge. If you're not familiar with the challenge, winning means you get a $15 gift voucher to use in the store, now that's not shabby. Thanks Kim! I'll be shopping soon.

Here's the deets on this card: all three of the dp are from DCWV Nana's Nursery, Baby girl pad. The cs mats are scraps. The pearls are Recollections Pearl Stickers (don't they make a cute necklace, WTG knows how to accessorize). The velvety ribbon is from the MFT Halloween ribbon pack (and doesn't it go great for spring, AND it feels as good as it looks). The image is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, the grass is stamped in Memento Sprout with Stickles highlights. The image is colored with copics and paper pieced with the DCWV dp. The chickies are covered with yellow flock and the shoes are covered with SU Crystal Effects to make them look like patent leather (I loved to have patent leather shoes for my Easter Outfit). The dp's were stitched down to the mats with a Sulky variegated green thread. I drew squiggly lines on the bench to simulate a wood grain. The top panel is popped up on triple dimensionals because the the dotted dp is popped up on a single dimensional. So the top panel needed to be on at least a double dimensional but because the ribbon is thick but the double dimensional wasn't enough. If you aren't satisfied with the dimensionals you get at the craft stores, you should go visit Jody's blog, Confessions of a Ribbon Addict. Jody sells a variety of sticky stuff and it's the best I've found. The card I made a couple days ago was HEAVY with buttons and her red dots held everything in place.

Here's the other challenges it's made for:

Stamp Something - Touch of Spring Somethings (everything about this card is spring)

If the Shoe Fits - Fashionista Friday #23 Mad for Plaid (the jacket and base mat)

Paper Sundaes -challenge #5 A Glittery Spring (the dp is glittered and the grass)

The Pink Elephant - challenge #54 - Ribbon (the yummy green velvet MFT ribbon)

Papertake Weekly - Check this out (the jacket and bottom dp)

Simon Says - Recipe - 3 types of embellishments (pearls, ribbon, flock), 2 patterned papers, and one image
