This month over on CCEE Stampers Cindy Motherway (aka Mothermark on SCS) is the challenge hostess and this week she asked for our cards to have birds and bees on them. I have one bird on my card and think that'll do. The Stamping for the Weekend Challenge #10 is a sketch. I tweeked it just a teensy bit so that I could also do the Pink Elephant Challenge #28 which is a recipe to use 3 brads, one flower and designer paper.
So the hardest part for this was trying to figure out how to combine birds and bees. Cindy says she was going easy on us but for me this was a little bit of a challenge. I was going to use the Stampin' Up paper Bella Birds but when I tried to lay out the pieces the birds were always covered, I guess I could have made a whacky cut to get the bird in the corner but I could smell smoke coming out of my head at that point and decided to go a different route. I picked a different set of papers, SU DSP Bella Bleu, to use with the beehive stamp from SU's Garden Pleasures stamp set. I still had to come up with the bird to go with it. I looked around my stamp room for awhile and found the Inkadinkado (regulars ya know what goes here) set Birds Galore and picked the bird that would fit in the corner. I used SU More Mustard to stamp both the images and the sentiment. The stamps have a rustic feel to them so I decided to distress the papers. Lastly, I added one flower with a brad in its center and two brads to the cardstock with the sentiment stamped on it and that finished the Pink Elephant recipe.
