Made for Me

This stamp was made for me.   It's "A Girl and Her Cake".   I do love me some cake.  Can't say as there are many I'd turn my nose up at.  AND lately, this bunny has been my favorite critter over at the Cat's Pajamas - but tell the penguins, they're an excitable lot and you never know what they could do if they find out.
This week the challenge at the Cat's Pajamas is a color challenge set by Sony.  Sadly it's Sony's last week as a DT member.  Seems she needs to devote more time to her schooling.  She's going to art school and if you've seen her work you know she's very talented, so I can't wait to see what she does when she's finished with her studies.

Sony picked "Yellow, Orange and Teal" something nice and bright.  For the layout I went with Jen Del Muro's April sketch.

How do you like those little aqua bling scattered around the image?  I really like the way they look and if I hadn't had a little stickles disaster I never would have known how cute they would look.  LOL.  It's true what they say, there are no mistakes just oppurtunities to embellish.

Horsing Around

"Horsing Around" is the name of this stamp and what this stamped image was doing with me.  I'll explain but first let's take note, it's Wednesday and that means it's time for Paper Pretties Challenge.  This week the challenge is a sketch.  YEAH!!!  Our very talented DT member Frances Bryne (you may know her as Stamp Owl) has given us another wonderful sketch to use.  Isn't it a breeze to make your card when you've got a good sketch for starters.
So as I was saying earlier, this fella was horsing around on me.  A couple weeks ago I was going to be out of town for about 10 days so I was getting prepared by getting my post done early and having things ready for when I got home.  One of the things I had done was stamped and colored this image, figuring I'd use it for the masculine card challenge.  Before we left I packed up my scrapbox and put this inside it.  When I got home I should have been able to pull some papers and put it together but I couldn't find it.  I spent a good amount of time looking for it but eventually figured it would be smarter to just make another card.  So when it turned up a couple days ago I decided to use it before I lose it again.  Does your stuff disappear on you too?

Here's the sketch.  Good one, isn't it?  All you have to do is pick a stamp and some papers and you're good to go.  Of course you need to go to the Paper Pretties blog when you're finished so you can link it up and enter the challenge.  Before you start you can visit the blog to see what the rest of the design team has done, that's a great source of inspiration and of course you can find out all the challenge details there.

Here's the deets:
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
paper - Stampin' Up green and beige cs (they were in colors, maybe wild wasabi and river rock); Cosmo Cricket "Earth Love" dp pad

don't forget the inside

I Miss NY

can you see the apple charm, it's not that "big"
This card is made using the sketch from Taylored Expression TESC135 challenge.  Once again this is not the card I had planned on making.  This has been happening a lot lately.  I had planned on using this stamp and some big red, black and yellow buttons.  Before I got around to putting it together I made a trip to the craft store and saw these "Puffies".  Needless to say I had to buy them and use them for this sketch.
I have a couple friends who live in Manhattan and this is going to be a birthday card for one of them.  I'm thinking I have to go get another package of puffies so I can make one for the other friend.
In real life you can see that the cuppie was stamped twice and one of them is punched out and popped up.  You can see this a little bit better in the close up.

My Ribbon Flower

Nina Dee, she''s one of the Sweeties at Cupcake Inspirations is hosting a new challenge.  She's decided she wants her challenge to be all about ribbon and her first challenge is "Ribbon Flowers".  Luckily for me she has a tutorial on how to make these fabulous twisted ribbon flowers.  I love these and was shocked at how easy they are to make.  So for all the details about the challenge and how to make the flowers hop on over to Designs by Nina Dee..
This worked out very well for me, I needed to make a card for the April My Favorite Things Guest Designer challenge which is "Shabby Chic".  This wasn't the card I originally had in mind but when I made those flowers they didn't go with my original idea so I let my imagination go for a couple minutes and switched gears.

Warm Fuzzies

can you see the heart charm?  click on the pic to enlarge

Warm Fuzzies is the name of this stamp, but for me it's what I felt when I saw it.  It reminds me of when my daughter was a little girl, she loved to wear footie pj's.  Come to think of it those pj are often fuzzy, and they are definitely warm.

Funny Bunny

I don't know about anyone else but when I see a bunny on a ladder decorating a Christmas tree, it makes me giggle.  Earlier this week the Cat's Pajamas challenge was to make a shaped card.  I was thinking about making an egg shaped Easter card but then I saw the Bah Humbug challenge to make something that makes you giggle.  Well, I haven't made a Christmas card in a day or two so I decided to make a tree shaped card.
Of course I don't have a template for a tree but why let a little thing like that get in my way.  It's a pretty simple shape so I just winged it.  To get it relatively even I made my template on 4=1/4" x  5-1/2" piece of paper that I folded in half, drew half the image and cut it out.  When you unfold it both sides should be the same.  Clear as mud, huh?
I cut down the template to use for the dp.  After getting that done I just glued a lot of bling on it, stuck an eyelet on it and used some divine twine to hang a charm.

I'm a Guest Bartender

Woohoo!  What'll you have?  A fancy drink with a little umbrella, a shot and a chaser or maybe just a draft.  Oh, don't get me started on beer, there's only about a gazillion of them.  Bar tending was possibly the most fun job I ever had.   I suppose if you consider being on design teams work then this is the most fun job in the world.

Raise the Bar picked my Painting Eggs post as one of their top 3 cards which means I could be a guest bartender.  Sounded like fun to me and it is.  The challenge is "April Showers" make a card depicting any kind of weather.  Obviously I didn't go with the showers.  It's those beautiful sunny days I decided to celebrate and isn't this Pure Innocence stamp just the perfect image for this celebration.  What weather will you celebrate?  Whatever you choose you can find all the challenge details and the linky tool by clicking here.

A New Home

Can you see the birdhouse charm?  Clicking on the pic enlarges it.

It's time for the Paper Pretties Challenge.  This one is going to be  one you'll have to enter.  It's "PWC147 -Bring on the Bling".   I know you all just love using your bling.  For my card I added the bling to the corners and to the one of the mugs.  I'm sure you can find some spots to add a little extra sparkle onto your card, so bling it up and link it up.  Need a little more inspiration, here's the link to the Paper Pretties Challenge blog, that's where you'll find the details for the challenge, Mr. Linky to link up your creation and some more cards by the other members of the design team.  I can guarantee you, you'll like what you see there.

don't forget the inside

Last summer my dear friend's daughter was married.  Now she and her husband have purchased their first home.  How exciting for them!    The "Brew Your Coffee" stamp features a bunch of little birdies and their homes so I inked it up to make a congratulations card for them.

Working with this image is fun.  In case you can't make out the sentiment it says "Home is where you brew your coffee and sip your tea" so it works for just about anybody (I do know one person who drinks neither coffee nor tea, but she's weird).

Here's the deets:
ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
paper - the card base is red on front, it was from a box of assorted colored cards from the craft store;  Stampin' Up "Soft Sky" cs for mat; Georgia Pacific white cs; October Afternoon "Modern Homemaker" dp (I saw this on Stamp Owl's cards and had to have it!)
miscellaneous - copics; ribbon; twine; charm; Stampin' Up corner punch; Taylor's Tiny Twinkles; button

Here's the challenges:
Paper Pretties PWC147 - Bring on the Bling
City Crafter Week 50 - Celebrate Good Times

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll come back again.  Now go get you bling out and join us in the Paper Pretties Challenge, we can't wait to see what you make.

Bunny Hansel

Hey kiddies, are you ready for another calorie free recipe from Katie?  Of course you are.  So here's this week's challenge #55 from Cooking It Up With Katie:  "Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine".  I like sparkly and shiny stuff so this is right up my alley.  Too bad my photographic abilities are not that great because there's lots of stickles on this little guy (I assume he's a guy because the name is Hansel)

This week the challenge is sponsored by Pizzaz Aplenty.  You can find all the challenge details, more fun cards created by the rest of the design team and the ever important Mr. Linky thingie by clicking here.

If you're a regular visitor to my blog or a stamping buddy you may be wondering what the heck is that image doing here.  If you're not one of the aforementioned you probably don't know that I am put off by stamps that have people without noses and mouths.  How the heck do they breathe.  If I look at them long enough I feel a little suffocated (seriously).  What's really odd is that I am not bothered by images of people without heads.  I just figure if the head were visible they'd have a nose and a mouth.  I never said that the way I think makes sense.

Here's the deets:
Don't forget the inside.

Isn't he handsome?  I realize you aren't here to see my kitty.  I've had trouble with my blog and not being able to get photos to appear so this is my test to see it it'll stay.  Now I have to see if I can get the photos back onto the post they were deleted from.

HELP!

Can anybody help this non-techy type figure out what's going on with blogger.  This morning the post below this had 3 photos in it.  I was reading the comments and when I came back they were gone.
I tried to edit them in but they disappeared again.
I tried to do a new post of the same material and the pics disappeared.  When I went to delete the post the pictures show at the bottom of the post and ask if I want to delete them but they no longer appear in the post where I positioned them.  I checked the original post and it's the same.
I looked at the help menu but don't understand any of the stuff that is in there.  can anybody explain in a non techy way how I can fix this?

A Spring Garden

Every week I find myself asking "Where does Rachel find these photos?"  These are some amazing cupcakes and they are the inspiration for this week's Cupcake Inspiratons challenge CIC104.  The sponsor this week is Paper Pretties, a company that is very near and dear to my heart.  I'm very luckyand proud to be a member of their design team
