Christmas Is Coming, Yes It Is

I'm not much for making Christmas cards. After the 9/11 attacks I stopped sending cards except to my closest friends. If I gave you a present I attached a card to it. So my card list is relatively small. I do make a few and I give them to my dearest friends who appreciate them. I've made a few cards for various challenges and I imagine that if I keep up with the challenges I will have enough home made cards by the time I need them.
The My Favorite Things challenge for this week is to make something using the first set of MFT stamps you got which in my case is the Merry Christmas set and it hasn't seen much use since them so I'm kind of glad that the challenge called for it. I started this card yesterday but I couldn't get past the paper piecing part. All the papers I used for the piecing are from Stampin' Up DSP Branbury. I drew in the floor and colored the rest of the image with copics. I kept fooling around trying the different papers with different card stocks but nothing was working for me. I didn't have a sketch challenge in mind and nothing was coming to me so I set it aside. Today I was looking at the MFT forums and saw that today is celebrate MFT day so I decided to pull it back out. I looked for a sketch challenge to use and found A Sketch for You To Try and decided to use that. Well if you look at that sketch you will see that I did not end up using that sketch. Where this layout came from I do not know but I do like the way it came out. It's funny but I've heard other people say that about things they've made, that they have no idea where the idea came from. Sometimes I know and other times I don't and this is a time when I don't.
There is another challenge I had in mind, the Paper Cutz Challenge #9 to make a Christmas project with lots of bling. So I added stickles to the garland and ornaments and Darice self adhesive gems to the corners. I think the gems really make a difference.
Thanks for visiting, if you have a minute to spare leave a comment. I love to read what you think. And of course, don't forget to click the pink ribbon.
