Scarecrow & Little Wizard

Isn't this stamp just darling? What you say if I told you that I won this stamp and another stamp from Belles ' Whistles simply for entering a card in a Midnight Madness challenge. That's right, my number was picked randomly and I received the prize for that week. I'm telling you this because I know some people are out there just looking at cards and not posting their creations. I stalked the galleries for a couple years before I got up the courage to post a card, and I was certain no one would look at my card yet alone have anything good to say about it. To my surprise the stamping community was right there patting me on the back every step of the way. So take the plunge and put your cards or projects out there for us to see. Crafters are the kindest and most sharing people you can be friends with, IRL or in cyberland. Enter challenges, you don't have to be the most experienced or the best to win many of them because they pick the winners at random.
As I was saying I won this stamp for entering a Midnight Madness Challenge and that's a great place to start. Every Tuesday Priscella posts a new sketch challenge, if you're new to card making (or not) sketches are a great place to start. The layout is there, all you have to do is pick out a stamp and some papers and embellishments and put them together. It's easy, give it a try. Another thing about Midnight Madness is that they post a tutorial on Wednesdays so you can learn something new every week and there's usually a blog candy give away going on. So there's lots of reasons to visit that website. Maybe the best reason is that its fun.
I like to make cards that can be entered in more than one challenge. When I sat down to make this card the first thing I had in mind was to give a shout out to Midnight Madness and Belles 'n Whistles for the prize. This image is very intricate and I thought that markers would be too heavy for it so I decided to use SU watercolors on it and as it turns out the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #38 is to watercolor. I didn't have a sketch challenge or a layout in mind but today I looked up the Crazy 4 Challenges site and that challenge is to use three different shapes. So I looked at the image and decided it should be cut out with a circle. Lately I've been prone to making square cards and I figured I could put the sentiment in an oval so that gave me three shapes. I picked my colors because I wanted to use this yummy silk ribbon to make a buttony bow to enter on Joanne's blog Just a Little Something for her birthoversary blog candy contest. I've made so many Halloween cards that I didn't think I'd be making any more when I saw the Crafty Creations Challenge #38 was All Hallow's Eve. But I here I am with another Halloween card so that's another challenge I can enter this card into.
Some more deets, I wanted my button to match my card stock so I used the Sizzex Buttons #5 die to cut it out of the DCWV Neutrals cs. The other papers are SU confetti white cs for the stamps. The other cs is Sunflower from Warsau paper. The card base is Nicole cs. The button is tied on with SU Linen Thread.
I do love that silk ribbon. It's scrumptious and beautiful to work with.
Thanks for visiting, I hope you'll come back again. Please click the pink ribbon before you leave, it'll help save lives.
